Dragonrabit - Thats incorrect. The terms of their price guarantee state “We will not charge the telephone booking fee for fares or holiday packages purchased under this offer”

Oh, and Tigers booking fee is $6

dragonrabit on 07/02/2010 - 21:40 ¶

i can waive with my debit master card that part of my transaction account, it does not cost me annual fee $50 like jetstar master card.

Yes, I’ve used Jetstar’s price beat before and there is no phone booking fee only a credit card fee… I guess phone booking is the only way they can confirm the competitors price and give you the discount.

Try asking them if you can pay bank deposit and you should be able to avoid the credit card fee.

http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/travel-info/travel-services/pri...

Once our reservations agent has verified the other airline’s flight or competitor’s holiday package is lower, we will make available for purchase the applicable comparable Jetstar fare or Jetstar holiday package at a price 10% below the other airline’s fare or competitor’s holiday package price. You must pay at the time of making the claim – we will not put bookings on hold for later payment.

based on that term and condition, you need to pay on the spot = credit card = credit card fee applicable. so no bargain.

No bargain? Even if it works out the same price (which it doesn’t, you’re still flying for $3 less), you’re not flying Tiger! That alone is a plus. Additionally, I can’t believe you’re complaining about the fact that a saving, on top of a $28 flight to Sydney, isn’t a bargain!

dragonrabit on 08/02/2010 - 01:10 ¶

how can be u are paying $3 less? read that term and condition you have to pay except if you have jet star credit card, which is cost you $50 for annual fee.
when we are comparing something we have to be fair, what is the final price. i don’t believe this is fair to compare, where u don’t want to add that fee. i mean how can i waive this fee without cost me with other additional fee attached?

Gravatar

TonyP on 08/02/2010 - 01:16 ¶

Odyssi has stated above Tigers booking fee is $6. Jetstar charge you $3 for their credit card fee. What am I missing here?

Gravatar

dragonrabit on 08/02/2010 - 01:20 ¶

as i said many2 times, with jetstar you need to have jet star credit card to waive this fee, to get this card it cost you $50 annual fee

with tiger, i can waive without incur additional fee by paying using my commsec debit master card. which is free for me, no additional fee attached, and commsec give me $5/ month during their promotion.

do u get it now?

one item what ever u do, you still have to pay that fee

the other item, you still be able to waive that fee

can u see the different now?

dragonrabit on 08/02/2010 - 01:17 ¶

one more thing, for me tiger and jet star are the same products. no different. how many times you read and watch on the news what they did with their passenger?

they are the same low cost airlines.

the different only the name and price. remember that!!!!

OK both sides have some points - BUT for someone without a Mastercard Debit card (Dont tell them to go get one) OR without a Jetstar CC, (same dont tellthem applies) or Qantas Club QFF. then this is how the bargain should be determined. The rest is individual bonuses.

But then there are some who obviously have had a great Jetstar experience, others a great Tiger experience and so on.

WE have all been around enough, the Jetstar and Tiger woes have been well publicised by the anal media hacks wanting their sensationalist stories etc etc. So really rehashing each delayed departure, each stale peanut pack is getting a little thin on the ground.

Move on people, no one is changing their airline bias based on the dribble being fought over here. Spend your time finding us something we DONT know.

And IF YOU want some analistic pricing. My non Jetstar CC will give me back 30c of my fare price per booking and since I want to return, thats 60c, since I am booking a return then there’s only a $3 fee for both tickets,. Then if I book for my wife and 3 friends return tickets at the same time, I’ll actually make a profit by using the credit card and only one call to the call centre which I can do by using my voip phone at 10c…… (13 13 13 = 03 9834 6479)

Hey anyone wanting me to book them as well???

(13 13 13 = 03 9834 6479)

Hey ozpete, this got me thinking … can one always convert 13 numbers to a ‘normal’ number?
Like you I also have voip and my national calls are free - apart from 13 numbers!
Being an ozbargainer it would be great if I could avoid calling 13 numbers …

The businesses usually list a number if calling from overseas. You can use that instead of 13 number.

I’ve booked under the Jetstar price beat guarantee on many occasions and each time I have not been charged the $3 credit card fee. You have to phone the call centre to make a booking under the guarantee as the staff will need to compare the fares. They will then request you to make a payment with a credit card or Visa/Mastercard branded debit card however they will waive the fee.

I presume this is because when booking online you are given the option to pay with alternative methods such as Internet Banking (POLI) or using a voucher to avoid the credit card fee. Obviously you will not be suppling them with your internet banking password and for vouchers I think they cannot use credit on an existing booking reference number such as when cancelling flights as they have to generate a new booking reference number for the fare.

The last time i booked flights with Jetstar under the guarantee was in December so I don’t believe the policy has changed much since.

zenzen on 08/02/2010 - 13:41 ¶

Interesting facts. Not remember well but when I called Jetstar Operator last time I booked a flight due to an error during transaction, I was charged CC fee. I remember I have to use CC because that’s the only way they can instantly confirm the booking. In that case, I assume we should be able to avoid CC fee? as we have no other options to pay - please correct me if wrong.

Also I have read their guarantee condition within 1 hour for JQ domestic flights. Are they really stick with this rule stricly? or there may be operator’s decision to some extent?
The date I want to fly, Tiger has cheap flight but Jetstar doesn’t offer the flight within 1 hour range. Just wondering if they can offer this price to the flights with more than 1 hour difference.

Gravatar

cairnsn on 08/02/2010 - 14:13 ¶

Hmm was that under the price beat or normal fare? They will still charge CC fee for normal bookings and most likely the telephone booking charge as well.

They are pretty strict with the 1 hour range so this usually only works on the busier routes like SYD-MEL and SYD-OOL when comparing against Tiger as the other routes Jetstar may not have flights within the one hour range. Also must be same airport. They won’t price match, for example, SYD-MEL Tullamarine with SYD-MEL Avalon.

shawn_low on 08/02/2010 - 12:25 ¶

Can someone who has done this tell me how much time they spent on the phone booking with Jetstar trying to price match Tiger?

Just curious.

Takes about 5-10 mins to make the booking but of course like any call centre you may be placed in a queue before your call is answered. You will not receive your itinerary/tax invoice until 1-2 business days later as they have to manually adjust the fare price in the back office.
