i used to work at the ihg (ie holiday inn, crown plaza, intercontinental, they are all the same group) call centre (which is now closed— off shored to the philipines about a year ago). This was a fairly common promotion. While it’s not IMPOSSIBLE to find a good deal here, it is a huge headache. Even us agents on the floor could never tell if the $99 would apply and trust me, 9 times out of 10 it wouldn’t (‘weekend? sorry sir no dates… no sir, not this weekend or any weekend… no sir not even friday…. ok let me check that… sorry, not available for those dates…’)

I would save yourself the aggravation.

They must have more dates available now - last year during the promotion I booked 2 different nights at 2 different hotels without any problems. Nevertheless, appreciate your insight theological.

You can clearly check availability online for 0 aggravation factor, I had no issues in the last 5 sales gettign what I wanted when I wanted, and at $99 a night including points, you only need 2 nights to get a free night with points - thats the bargain.

Great deal - stayed last year over my birthday at the Holiday Inn in the Rocks, Sydney. Fantastic location! And I even had to change dates (the call centre staff told me, very friendly, that they can’t change the promotional dates but kindly suggested to talk to the front desk manager personally - I did so and they went out of their way to accommodate me. Respect. I’ll stay with them again, promotion or not!)

I checked the site this morning 10:40am QLD time and the site said sale started, so I rang the 137 399 number. A nice booking agent helped me and I got 5 nights at $99 each with ocean view rm at gold coast. 3 nights during easter (no block out), and 2 nights for the May Day / Labour Day weekend. We already have Anzac day with GCI using Rydges discount a few weeks ago.
