I normally refresh my tab of JB HiFi Tv's just to see if there is any decent deals.

a 2014 model …. interesting …. the pictures probably just as good but how did they get it

    • +7

      Maybe it's NOT a "Smart TV"…?

Of - if it's "Smart" - maybe it's the one that "listens" to conversation in the room…? ;-)

      • So, what is the Wireless network adapter in its spec's (elsewhere)?

Something proprietary to Samsung? Or will any reasonable one work OK?

        I suppose it's not included…?

Anyone got this TV, who can comment…? TIA.

As soon as I saw that I closed the tab

        You lie, you commented first!

        • I meant the JB HiFi tab :P

    • One good thing about that resolution though, if you're a budget minded pc gamer, a lower resolution gives much better framerates. And downscaled res on FHD looks icky

      • +1

Oh God please spend $200 on a Dell refurbished instead. You'll have a much better time.

  • +3

    HD…not full HD

    • +7

      That's what the title says.

  • Maybe they opened a time capsule

  • No stock within 200+kms of Brisbane. Great price if you can find one.

  • +1

    $18 delivery not too bad…

  • Only $18 for delivery though. :)

    What they said

  • Top ryde and macquarie nsw has it apparently. I would have tought about buying this had it been full hd.

    • +9

      I still tink it's a good deal for $199.00.

    • ryde and macquarie nsw has it apparently. I would have tought about buying this had it been full hd.

It would have been out of stock before posting

  • What's the catch?

    • +1

Not Full HD? No catch? Catch of the Day?

  • I'm really surprised a company like Samsung would be selling sub-1080p TVs. Still a great deal though and would be fine at that resolution and size for bedroom TV viewing, but something to take note of if you want to do any gaming on it.

    • they probably found a pallet in a warehouse somewhere

    • +5

Why surprised? If I were to choose a cheap Sub TV for kids, I definitely would be looking at a sub Samsung than a Sub no brand.

      • -1

Because even the cheapest no name brand TVs these days tend to be 1080p, so Im surprised a brand name manufacturer is bothering with less. I bought a 32 inch Samsung 1080p TV for $299 and that was three years ago.

        • +1

This is 2014 brand, its not "these days" anymore

        • +5

What's the point in a cheap noname TV with 1080p if the panel quality is crap. This Samsung TV panel quality be it 720p would beat that noname 1080p panel in picture quality output. My auntie has this same Samsung 32" model TV in her small lounge room and the picture quality output is actually very good.

        • -1

Where did I say anyone should buy a cheap no name TV? All I said was that Im surprised that you can still get name brand 720p TVs. Am I speaking Chinese? Ffs.

    • +4

Most content is still viewed at 720p or less.

    • Surprised that Samsung would been previously making TV's designed for use in bedrooms?.

  • +2

HD sets are still quite common in 32 inch sizes

    • ^^This^^
Spot on, and most big brands sell them for a lot more than this today!

  • Do you think we can use this as a work monitor? (not gaming)

    • +4

Will look yuk at that resolution. You could use it for a stats screen maybe…

Edit: even if it can accept a pc input (didn't check)

      • +2

Has 2 hdmi. So you can use on a pc that outputs to hdmi or get a hdmi to dvi or vga cable if not.

But agreed at this res it would look like arse for this size screen.

    • Only if your PC has HDMI (or have access to HDMI-to-DVI/VGA/whatever adapter) which is standard on most modern PCs. Even then, you will be working at a 1366x768 maximum resolution so using it for word processing/web browsing is not ideal as the text will be HUUUUGE on a 32" panel.

But for presentations/advertisement banner and such, it's not a bad option.

    • It will be an awful work monitor. Low res over a large screen close up… it will look terrible and probably strain your eyes in the process.

i just bought a couple - been on the hunt for 32inch tv's - even with the cost of shipping these are still cheaper than the aldi 32" on sale at the moment - cheaper than the tcl and changhongs i've been looking at too

ps - just wanted to add that this site rocks - have bought a xiaomi redmi note 3 pro phone and a lenovo yoga 460 - very happy with both!

    • +4

Ooooh you are mistaken my friend. Some say this site is the devil itself. Be prepared to spend oodles of cash on things you don't need but suddenly do!!

Just a warning. In freight. Took jb 9 days to send my last order. Ridiculous.

Was pretty Devo when the tv was doa too :(

Realy? My xbox one took 4 days.

      • Yes, Why neg vote?

        • Lol I didnt neg you. I can up vote tho.

        • @Slippery Fish:

Thanks! Basically, in store service awesome! Website service, terrible. Total was 12 days to get a TV 150km. And then it was faulty.

Then to add insult to injury, had to lump the TV down to local store as web support was no help. Local store upgraded me to an exdemo panasonic.

Two days later the panasonic dies! FML.

No have a fresh panasonic to unbox.

For this price this is a great TV. I have similar (mine has 2 USB ports so should be a different model) beside dinner table, great way to catch the news.

If you need a spare don't think too much. Id feel more confident with this TV compared to Kogan or DS branded ones :)

  • I have one for the bedroom and it is great. I watch Netflixm and play Xbox one on it and whilst it's not 1080p it still looks good.

  • +1

I recall paying another $100 will get you Soniq 43 inch non smart TV,full HD though. I wouldn't go for this eventhough panel might be a bit better

  • Analog tuner is goof for connecting the Super Nintendo via RF :)

      You're goof!

"I normally refresh my tab of JB HiFi Tv's just to see if there is any decent deals."

Just set up a bunch of alerts on Price Hipster?

  • I have this TV, just as a spare TV for my young kids in our little second living space. It's pretty decent for what it is. Does the basics well enough (e.g. responsiveness, speed of channel changes etc). It was actually a warranty replacement from JB (replacing a Palsonic, for which I'd purchased the extended warranty).

    • I'd purchased the extended warranty

You mustn't have been here long ;)

I have a 6-7yr old 720p Panasonic plasma in the bedroom. Went to replace it once with a full HD LCD but quickly returned it as Foxtel viewing looked quite a bit nicer and more natural on the Panasonic funnily enough and i couldnt get the Full HD to look as good. Probably would not be the case now with current gen TV's but there is something to be said about a quality panel/tech vs. a spec sheet.

    • Did you get a cheap (Kogan or Dick smith or Aldi) full HD TV? Quality is definately better with Most of the Full HD LCD these days vs a 7 year old HD plasma. Or your new TV had weird settings or you loved your old Panasonic and were looking for reasons not to change it :)

      • It was about 2 years ago give or take. And no it was a name brand, sony or samsung, can't recall. fiddled with the calibration but it just did not look as good.

That said i am still using a larger Full HD Plasma in my living room that, 4k aside obviously, displays a better picture than a lot of TV's on sale today as far as like for like content goes. I have been itching to justify upgrading for a while now but still struggle to justify it. 4k upscaling might be worthwhile but figure may wait for OLED to come down.

        • True. OLED is next big thing. Love my Sony 4k TV and quality is quite good even for 720p contenct taken I view it from 4 metres.
Sony has better blacks compared to LG. I would say, till the time you are happy with the picture, stick to your old TV. Smart tvs are not that smart as chrome cast can do that for couple of dollars.

    • Plasma rules. Especially once you get some proper Black/White clipping calibration videos

    • +1

its not unusual for plasma owners to be disatisfied with lcd ….. if you get hd foxtel it should look good but for anything else you just have to grin and bear it.

      • Have always had HD Foxtel whilst with these TV's (who in their right mind would pay for foxtel without it…). I actually had a Full HD LCD in the living room (Sony and was quite happy with it) before upgrading it to a larger more advanced HD Plasma (almost 5 years ago now, warranty about to expire… ahhhhh) in the living room. I don't consider myself an advocate of any particular technology, my point being i made an error in purchasing the LCD for the bedroom thinking the specs were sufficiently better/advanced so it must surely produce a better picture… and i did not. But anyway, that was then, this is now, passing comment and all.. haha

  • would 50hz ok for normal viewing?
