FWIW, my Sandisk Ultra Fit gets super hot and sometimes disconnects itself during large file transfers. I would not recommend that product unless you have some specific purpose in mind.

Good price on the Sony SmartWatch 3, especially since it's still the current model, with no announcements of a replacement made at the IFA.

  • Logitech UE Megaboom is $199.75 after coupon applied …. i paid $263 for one yesterday from officeworks … woe is me :(

  • Looks pretty good. I need some headphones, I'm tossing up between the Rapoo H6060 bluetooth or Sennheiser HD229 non bluetooth both at $39 bucks. otherwise the Logitech z533 which is worth $169 RRP but still costs more when discounted at JBhifi or should I get the Logitech z333? decisions to get 'frugal' and thrifty spending money LOL

  • I WOULD REALLY REALLY recomend hitting this sale up right now.
If you are soon to get the NBN Via FTTN they have one of the best VDSL modems for 156 the tp link vr600 is probably the best sub 300 VDSL modem on the market

    • Quick question, would you recommend the D7000 or the AC86U for an FTTN modem router? I read on whirlpool AC86U is compatible with FTTN but needs tweaking, similarly the D7000 is also compatible but needs latest fireware.

      • Unless you know how to upgrade the asus firmware.
        Steer clear of it.
It has a known issue if u don't set it up PERFECTLY wit hthe right firmware.
it will brick ur NBN fttn connection it requires your ISP to get ur port reset which takes 48 hours or more to do.

the d7000 is good, but i don't personaly think it wroth the 300 bucks ppl ask for
But this TP link modem is by far the best value one i have seen.
If this tp link wasnt on sale i wouldnt be getting it.
i would of just got a bridged modem then whacked it onto my microtick router as it has 2 watt antena so u can pick the wifi up like 3 houses away lol

also the asus does not perform as well on a long line as it uses a MTK chipset.
Broadcom is better at vdsl if u think ur pillar is more than 500m

        • My pillar is around 200 and the node is around 100 from the pillar so I should be good. Went ahead and purchased the D7000 last night along with the BT earphones.

I personally stay away from D-Link, TP-Link because I've had terrible experiences with their products in the past. Bought the D7000 for $279 ish which I thought was worth it… I run the R7000 as a WAP using ddwrt for a while now and love the strength of the signal.

          -Edit-

Do they still make bridge modems? I have the old Netgear DM111P and replaced it and its attached router with the D7000 last night. Couldn't find any bridge routers at all.

      • I would not use the D7000 again if you paid me.

Firmware v34 was so broken that Netgear withdrew it.
        http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30660/~/d7000-…

Then months later they just re-released it under v38 without fixing any of the bugs that made them pull v34.

The current closest thing to a working firmware is v32 (3 versions back). Main issue with this one is that it can't upload and download at the same time. Yes you read that right - this $300 modem can't upload and download at the same time.

It's now been 4 months since they pulled v34 that fixed the upload/download bug and broke just about everything else. Still no resolution.

And get this - Netgear provides free technical support for only 30 days after date of purchase. After that I'm not sure whether they'll ignore you or charge you money. Which is actually no biggie since Netgear's bottom rung "Tech Experts" don't even read what you write before copy & pasting completely irrelevant canned responses.

        • I went ahead and bought the D7000 last night… dang >.>

So far I havent had any issues with it after setting it up last night. The latest firmware seems to be 42 so maybe that's fixed somethings?

        • @ProjectZero:

Thanks I didn't know about 42 since Netgear didn't bother to update any of the D7000 support threads I'm subscribed to.

It's not very reassuring (but very typically Netgear) that the release notes for 42 don't mention fixing any of the crucial bugs outstanding from the previous 3 versions. I'll have to do some research before risking an update.

          Never touching Netgear products again.

Edit: looks like another buggy release as usual:
          https://community.netgear.com/t5/DSL-Modems-Routers/bd-p/hom…

        • @bobjane: Strange, I haven't had any issues with the IP reservation or the wireless security AFAIK… might need to double check that tonight.

        • @ProjectZero:

Hopefully the IP reservation is fixed in 42. Please let me know how you go, will save me having to downgrade again if it's still bugged.

        • @bobjane: I actually did my IP reservations fresh out of the box (1.0.0.18 IIRC) and than flashed to the latest firmware. Didn't seem to have any issues from my limited use last night… Will let you know when I have tested it.

        • the vr600 arrived today.

Im onyl on ADSL still but nbn comes next week for me.

          i now synch 2Mbit higher?

cant complain i was on 18 now i get 21 pretty solidly.
looking forward to good speeds hopefully with FTTN then since the box is only 2 doors up

        • @reader64: haha nbn comes in a few weeks for mr according to schedule. But that 2Mbps higher comparing adsl is pretty good… Mines remained the same for adsl2+

        • @bobjane: just an update, no issues with the wifi or the ip reservation as far as i can tell

        • @ProjectZero: Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it!
