    • give us some bargains then, price beats are NOT bargains, but better price is

        Any Indian grocer will give you better prices than woolworths, and they're not even on special, which is what I meant, not pricebeating woolies. Oops. That's just one example with a web page. I don't know why that's controversial. 5kg for $26, or you could just buy the same packets in 5kg for $48 at Woolies. 1kg is $3 cheaper.

        • Product you linked is different to what is mentioned in OP.

          @pyramid:

          They're both bhuja mix, feel free to try something new. I'm sure the $22 you save on the 5kg or $3 on 1kg will make it taste better. Or just walk into your local indian grocer and find a better price on other bhuja brands and support their business.

        • @johndemonik: Not same mate. Different brands, different quality.

        • @Gaggy:

          Yeah. maybe hindustan is a better brand, or maybe not.

        • +1

          @johndemonik: May be…
          Also that is in Melb. Woolies are everywhere. They have better quality control than the imported ones.

    Good stuff

  • Never tried this, is it really that good?

    • +2

      Tasty!

      Oh yes, although some of them have dried dahl that is very hard. Which can be a problem for some, who have molar fillings etc that cannot cope with such hard stuff. For the majority, it would not be an issue. But if it is, go for the varieties that do not have the dried dahl (e.g. the ancient grains) and it will be fine. Or do not eat the dried dahl.

      • I broke a tooth on a similar product. Dentist's quote was $2,500

        • +1

          Oh dear, sorry to hear. But even the Original Mix of this, I felt pain in my gums after a while of chewing on the dahl; also the occassional loud crack noise was unpleasant …

          The Haldiram bhuja range do not have this problem (very hard bits), but then someone pointed out that they were banned in India at some stage, due to carcinogenic ingredients, or some such.

          So it is hard to find substitutes …

  • My friend mixes mango powder (amchar) and chilli or paprika powder with his bhuja, gives it a slight fruity type of taste with the sweet. pretty nice.
