Hisense 75" LED TV - 75M7000UWD $2548 @ JB Hi-Fi

560

$2548 is now the best price - from JB Hifi. Thanks Plapic

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

$2699 was the new low watermark for this TV until JB came along.

I paid $2749 just over a week ago.

$2699 from Appliance Central includes delivery to several capital cities - delivery to my regional NSW address is $74.
The JB Price of $2548 does not include delivery.

A couple of points having owned the TV for a week:

The feet at the base of the TV are at the extreme ends of the screen. So unless you are wall mounting it, your entertainment unit/TV stand must be at least 160cm wide. I got caught out by this as my Samsung 60" which this replaced had a stand in the centre of the screen. Have had to buy a new entertainment unit as well as new TV!

There are 4 HDMI ports at the back. 2 the input is perpendicular to the screen. 2 the input is parallel. Only the 2 perpendicular ports support 3840x2160 @ 60hz. The parallel HDMI ports only support 3840x2160 @ 30hz. Without knowing the technical reason for this my guess is that the 2 perpendicular ports are HDMI 2.xx whereas the parallel ones are only HDMI 1.xx.
In a modern TV I dont understand why they dont make all the HDMI support 3840x2160 @ 60hz as a minimum?

TV weighs close to 50kg and is unmanagably large and heavy for most normal people to move around by themselves - its a 2 man job at my place.

The box is huge. You are kidding yourself if you think you'll fit it in any normal sized sedan. It would work in a ute or van perhaps - and maybe a troop carrier or similar.

  • 50 kg TV! Crikey

    • Lol, reminds me of the good ol' CRT days

  • omg… so close to biting..

  • Also note that if you wall mount this tv, access to the ports is very hard as they all face the wall and are away from the edge.

Great price but delivery to WA is $205

    • +6

As an owner of the TV, they don't ALL face the wall, but certainly a fair few do. I agree this could be a problem for some wall mounting scenarios.

Of the HDMI ports, 2 face the wall and 2 are parallel with the screen.

Page 6 of this guide shows you the exact configuration

      https://etcpg3uvcgs41q4ci23mfssr-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-…

2 x HDMI, antenna, 3 x USB and the headphone socket are parallel to the screen

2 x HDMI, LAN, optical, component and AV connectors face the wall

The 2x 60hz at 3840x2160 HDMI ports both face the wall.

      • are you able to share or post a link to the settings you use?

        • I just use stock settings - out of the box - everything 50/100

          Looks fine to me.

        • Is a thread on Whilpool in the Home Theatre forum, it is Hisense ULED, I used the settings on p71 of that thread and they are much better than the default settings.

        • @Maveot:

Maveot both of those settings are for the 65inch model, not the 75 inch model. They are different panels. Are you using the settings on the 75 or the 65?

        • @rakerr:

Yep I have been, true they are different panels but I like them more than the defaults. Perhaps a little dim still, but a starting point.

        • @Maveot:

excellent mine is arriving in 10 mins and just wanted to see what settings are recommended. Ill give those a shot. you running rpps? or Mpr_65s?

        • Maveeot, i saw that your contrast levels are starting at 50. According to Macman1s post on page 19 of the whirl pool thread the following:

Here is a tip for setting up an LCD TV (LED is LCD).

ALWAYS set "Contrast" as high as possible before clipping of peak white or colours occurs. Normally the manufacturer will use a setting very close to this as the default. Using a Contrast setting any lower then optimal simply throws away contrast ratio for no advantage what so ever so don't do it.
To control how bright the TV is use the backlight control NOT the "Contrast" or "Brightness" controls.

The "Brightness" control is mis named, its should be called the blackness control because it sets the black level of the TV. Using a setting lower than optimal will crush shadows to black, and using a higher setting then optimal will increase black level, both or which are not good.
A simple way of setting the "Brightness" control is to display a credits screen from the end of a movie with a small amount of text on a black background, the less text the better but there MUST be some. A wide screen movie with black bars top and bottom works best.

Pause the video at an appropriate point and turn the "Brightness" control up until the black level obviously rises, then turn it down one click at a time until the black level just stops getting any darker. At this point going up one click should increase black level and going one click down should make no difference.
You have now "calibrated" the brightness control for the ambient lighting in use. A different setting will be required if the viewing environment gets significantly brighter or dimmer so you will normally need a night and a day setting. Same goes for the back light setting, a bright daytime setting is highly inappropriate for a dark room and will cause eye strain so don't be afraid to turn the back-edge light WAY down. Doing so will greatly improve black level.

The optimal "Contrast" setting remains the same in all environments so its set and forget.

"Gamma" is a vital setting thats has a VERY large influence on picture quality and its also dependant on ambient light. Its not an easy thing to get your head around and like colour requires test gear to "calibrate". Any adjustment to Gamma requires Brightness be rechecked.

My question to you is have you tried this in your playing with the settings? It would seem he is pretty knowledgeable on all things PQ.

        • @rakerr:

          I was using MPR_65s settings.

I also haven't tried what Macman1 suggested, TV only arrived on Monday after damaged unit and the incorrect one the week prior. I will have a play further this weekend. I have actually turned the Motion back onto Low to smooth it a little, I dislike Soap Opera so would normally turn it off, but not as bad with the Hisense.

You probably already know this, but remember you have to set it for each input.

        • @Maveot:

yup. Mine is also set up now. i went with rpps then set the contrast up 5 and im happy enough for now. My set looks good i cant see any major screen issues so im very happy that i dont need to return anything and start again. But ill do some proper testing tonight.

Very happy with my purchase. Glad i waited the 6 months I did. I started chasing the 65 inch then decided no 70 is the sweet spot. But with this last deal i couldn't resist the 75 and glad i did.

      • Got mine yesterday $2545 50 months interest free at HN. Just wondering if anyone got 3D glasses. Says they come with in the quick start manual but I did not get any. And is it passive or active 3D?

        • Active 3D and it came in the box … check the front and back of every piece of styrofoam before you throw it out!

        • @Trojan: cheers will do. Lucky I still got the box.

        • @Trojan: got the wife to have a look on the box and no glasses. Mate bought one on boxing day he says no glasses either

        • @Regie69:
I got mine from JB Hifi and the glasses were at the bottom in its own white cardboard box
          eg http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1X-Brand-New-Hisense-3D-Active-Sh…

        • @Trojan:
Mmm cheers will have to ask them I think

        • @Trojan: found them in the very bottom. Cheers
My mate also was able to find his. Lucky he bought his tv on boxing day. He had not thrown the box yet. Lazy ass

        • +1

          @Regie69:
Good to hear and enjoy :)

  • What is the difference between the models ending in D and G?

  • +2

    Much cheaper at JB Hi-Fi

  • Anyone have any luck with firmware updates?

    • Mine came with 0922 from memory. What is yours?

      • I have the 70 and it 909 firmware. Looking to get newer so the browser has video support.

I emailed Hisense and nothing yet… Been over a month now :/

        • Email again

        • Hi chuneeperformance, I think that you're waiting because 0909 IS the current firmware version. I too have the 70" and, after reading your post, I phoned Hisense tech support ph 1800447367 They advised that 0909 is the latest version for Oz.

        • @Honest John: My 75" says v00.01.00a.G0922

        • @s4nju: Mine is 70" , so different F'ware

  • -2

What is going on with tv prices? To me they were cheaper during Boxing Day sales? I'm still waiting to buy a 58 or 65 inch around 1k

  • Thanks for the entertainment unit tip, that is very handy and the deal of course!

  • Is this the same quality as the M7000 65 inch?

This was awarded tv of the year according to good gear guide.

    http://www.goodgearguide.com.au/article/610840/best-tv-year-…

    • 65" is edge led
      70-75 is fald

      • What's the difference?

      • Is fald better or interior?

        • Full array local dimming if memory serves me correctly was patent by sharp - of which are these panels. Hisense have taken over sharps display arm.

They are closest to true direct backlit panels at cheaper price. Far better Black's and colour as the back light turns off on black areas. Won't be as true black as OLED… But the best you can get with LCD which I think has 200+ led zones.

Edge lit you obviously know what it is and the inferior "grey" you get and not the Black's you get from fald.

  • I'd like to bite - but these are all run out models for the 2017.
    Great price anyhow.

    • valid point, seems like the new ones might be available in the 1H of 2017 and some of them cheaper than the current models… hmmm what to do, what to do

      • Hi radem12, I couldn't help noticing those 4 lovely Thai ladies in your avatar … are they your girlfriends or wives?

        • Hehe they are not Thai's, just 4 Melbourne girls that we met along the way on a bucks week….ahhhh memories :)

        • @radem12:

Dude you're a giant, how tall are you and what's your secret lol

      • radem12, do you have link to the source of this information? I also keep seeing references to the face that the M7000 range will be continued in 2017 which i think is a bit strange and hard to believe.

  • I paid $2749 just over a week ago.

Check to see if you have a credit card with purchase protection (e.g. 28 Degrees, Coles). They will refund you the difference, even if it's another retailer IIRC.

    • I dont think that is true - both my credit cards with price protection (which Ive claimed over $1,200 back on) specifically say it must be from the same retailer (but can be a different branch, or in store vs website).

Imaging buying a TV for $4,000 from David Jones, only to claim back $1500 the following week when JB HiFi have the same model for $2500…

    • Just called bankwest and they need a printed catalogue from JB with this price to match it. Fingers crossed for the catalogue.

      • How long ago ago you buy it?

I went into JB today after buying it last week and they refunded the difference, no hesitation.

I think if in the last month they will do it.

        • I got my one from harvey norman.

        • @s4nju: Bummer, they have a 7 day price promise only.

        • @Maveot: just walked out of Harvey Norman $250 up. Got them to refund the difference without question asked. Website says 7 days but thought I try my luck and it paid off. Over heard him say something about within 14 days.

        • @s4nju:
          Awesome news!

  • Has anyone had trouble using the backward facing HDMI 2.0 ports and wall-mounting? Is it possible to get 90 degree HDMI 2.x cables?

  • Was looking at it yesterday at HN and i told the sales guy Good Guys had it for 2.8 last week.. he said best he could do was 3.2 haha, guess he thought i was a sucker

    • HN have dropped their price to $2969 today…

  • How is HDR on this? Ive been searching around and got mixed responses on whether this is HDR 8 or 10…

Also, do you still need a firmware upgrade for the HDR to work?

    • +1

The M7000 range is 8 bit with Frame Rate Control (FRC) which gives the apparent Bit depth of a native 10 bit panel.

      More detail: http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/f9c46d8

      • So how does the HDR on this Hisense compare to a 10bit HDR Samsung ?

        Sorry bit lost with it

  • Cinema replacement. 4K bluray time.

  • Got it for $2500 with free delivery 👌🏼

    • receipt/location?

        JB HI fi Myaree WA

  • Grabbed one at JB price with HN 60 months interest free.

    • did you have to bargain hard at HN for them to match JB and offer 60 months?

      • They wouldn't do it in store so i got online to price match and then just clicked through to my GO mastercard account and selected it with no drama. Dunno why the sales assistants talk themselves out of a $2.6k sale over its payment type.

They called me first thing this morning to advise of delivery tomorrow too! Good service 😊

        • I called harveynorman and they said oh, we dont do price beat anymore, blablabla. Now people rnt buying them, then they dropped the price actively.

    • No go from me - lucky you!

I apologies, we cannot price match this item for you as the item does not meet our Price match Policy
      11:30 am
As part of our policy, it is stated that we exclude 'Clearance, seconds or refurbished lines, or ex demonstration or display offers'

      • Oh damn, thought this might happen. Glad I got in last night!

Got it for $2500 delivered to Sydney metro.
Salesperson didn't want me to post the receipt (apparently because he doesn't want his manager to see) but happy for me to direct people his way and he will give that deal to anyone else in Sydney (its all coming from the warehouse anyway). PM me for details.

    • Thanks mate :)

    • I PMed you.
      Thanks in advance

      • PM'ed you the details - sorry, didnt see the PM earlier as the TV arrived today and I was busy setting it up :)

  • Got it at $2450 inclusive of delivery at JB hifi Chadstone

    • Receipt please.

      • Well done. I got it for $2421@ Dandy today (not incl. delivery which was $55 extra).

Now for hooking it up when it gets delivered!

In advance can't post reciept as its already filed away in the Laberynth.

    $33.97 per inch

  • Anyone got any tips on how to get this price still?

  • Parents just got this TV and I'm trying to find some good settings for it

We watch the Titans vs Knights on foxtel and noticed the game to be a bit jerky and players to have a red / pinkish skin tone

Anyone know how to fix this??

    • Try turning off motion flow for one.

I notice the soap opera effect watching the NRL.

      • This is under advance settings correct.
