As a chinese speaker, I die a little bit inside every time I hear wah-way. Don't know how it started, but the H is not silent.

      • +1

The accurate one is "WHO-ARE WAY", speaking "WHO-ARE" together quickly as one word will get the pronunciation right.

        • Huh-Way….. maybe I speak too fast..

        • +2

If you anglicised it as HWA, then there won't be any confusion

      • +1

Hi TA, any similar deal possible for iPhone lovers?

    • Agreed lol but if the h was silent it would become "ua-way" which is probably further from the correct pronunciation than "wah"

If you've ever heard people here pronounce "Hua" as a last name, they say it like the "Jos" from "Joshua" has been cut out

      • +1

I've always pronounced it like Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman.

        • Hooohaa!

    • +1

I've always said WHO-ARE-WAY, but could you tell me how to say Xiaomi.

      • See-Ow Me

      • see-ou mi

        ou as in ouch

        • Not accurate for the "Xiao" sound.

        • @JFSYD: If you say see-ou quickly, it's close enough for general purposes. Can't think of anything in english that would give the proper pronunciation for Xiao.

        • @iChopstick:

In Cantonese, "see-ou" is ok, but in Mandarin, it sounds like "Sh-ee-ow", or still good to be pronounced as English word "Shou(t)" and make the "t" silent.

      • +1

For "Xiao Mi", the Chinese "X" sounds like "Sh" in English, so "Xiao Mi" will be pronounced as "Sh-ee-ow (quickly pronounce as one word) Mee"

I say wing wong and wing wu, but thats because Im a little bit racist.

    • +3

That's how it's pronouced in Cantonese. Seeing the Chinese name of Mobileciti is written in traditional Chinese and it's actually named after a famous mobile phone shopping centre in Hong Kong, I am guessing that the owner or Mobileciti is from Hong Kong. Hence the Wah-way pronounciation.

      • That makes sense

      • Hope they get to keep their identity in HK.

Chinese isn't a spoken language (even though I know you mean Mandarin)…

      • Which isn't a fruit.

Chinese is a language both spoken (Putonghua/Mandarin) and written (simplified Chinese character) in mainland China.

You've mixed up the concept with the various dialects in China, even people in close cities, they may pronounce the same Chinese word differently (although people use the same written Chinese words). Putonghua/Mandarin is a dialect based in Beijing (the only official spoken language across the mainland China) , Cantonese is a dialect in Guangdong & Hong Kong.

There are hundreds of dialects in China, to be honest.

    • WHO WA WAY

  • Weren't the Huawei headphones and the Nexus 6p hard case supposed to be free with the Nexus 6p? The ones I received with my phone has a sticker which says 'Not for resale' and look identical to the ones Mobileciti is selling…

    • did you flip it up then read … "by Individual customer but Okay for a shop"

  • pitty no huawei nexus 6p :(

  • Is there any possibility at all for S7 offers?

  • No thanks, happy with my LG G4 :-)

    • +10

Please save your data regularly…You may become unhappy at any time.

Been there done that, I'll be very unhappy if it boot-loops again.

        • Really is a shame. Loved the Nexus 5, but I suppose that was pre-bootloop. G6 looks great, too.

        • how did u fix it? mine just died

  • Hmmm.. G8 or P8?

    • +1

      Like its 1997

  • -2

I think they jacked up the P9 price

    • -1

      I second that

  • Was interested in the W1 Watch but they have been heaps cheaper in the past. Just not recently.

    • Really? I did a quick look through the offers here, and couldn't find it much cheaper, maybe $30 max, but none from an Australian seller…

      • Don't particularly need one from an Aussie seller.
$259 from Amazon UK is the best I've seen there's also been $292 for the Black Stainless Steel one which I would have jumped on asap if I'd seen it.

Good price on the Mate 9.

I am now using S6 , should I pull the trigger?

    • you should. way better than S6 imo. But a little less than s7 edge imo too.

      • +1

I thought Mate 9 is better than S7 Edge in terms of battery life, performance etc

why did you think that s7 edge is slightly better?

        • camera only i see. Others i don't really care as I charge my phones in office, home and car. So battery performance doesn't matter, not unless is iphone 6 and before, which were terrible.

can you activate your pm please?

Bought it recently - upgrading from a dying LG G3.

Love the phone - big screen - snappy and fast. EMUI is a bit weird - just use Nova Launcher instead.

Lots of hidden little nifty things that make life easier - screenshot button, super fast fingerprint reader, NFC, WiFi+ enhancements.

Nougat update as well - still has minor bugs - but not a deal breaker.

Also the little things - the factory installed screen protector - that's a nice touch.

      • What's the battery life like?

I have to charge my S6 at least 3 times during the day.

        • +2

          Full day easy with 40%.

I'm a power user. 1 Netflix on my commute everyday. Instagram/Facebook/Quora at work from time to time - alongside office emails and stuff. Games as well from time to time.

The proprietary charger is fun - 30 minutes for a top up to about 70%. Enough to keep going.

There are some software/hardware tweaks they have running to constantly improve battery life.

Also, 4100mAH - that's huge by any standards.

        • The battery can last me 3 full days with 5 hours SOT if I don't use the mobile as often. On average it gives me 2 full days usage with 6 to 7 hours SOT. One thing I notice comparing to my Sammy Note 4 that, when it hits 50% battery, there is still a full day of usage at this point and no rush to put it on charge.

Hah, bought a screen protector from ebay after I place the pre-order, when the phone arrive and saw the factory installed screen protector I was like what the?? (@_@)

        • +2

          Did the same. ><

          Good to have backups.

    • +1

Got mine on Pre-order to claim the wireless headphones, been 3 weeks and it's a very solid phone. I esp like the big battery cuz I do play quite a bit of games on it. Only downside for me is that it's quite heavy. I put a case on it and it weights a good 200g+. Hands get tired after playing games for a while with no support. Other than that no complains.

  • Looks like my original pebble is dying and I need a replacement, is this the best watch to get atm? The prices and features for smartwatches seem to have barely moved, this or a $50 G watch?

  • What type of postage do they use?
