Google Pixel 32GB US $574.99 + US $29.99 Shipping (~AU $813 Posted) @ Never-Srp on eBay

70

Stock Android and still one of the best camera phones out there. I have one of these for work and I can't recommend them enough, coming from an iPhone 6s and previously a Samsung Galaxy S5.

Note that this is the International version (G-2PW4200) which is what you will get purchasing locally. Also this is from Ebay US, not Ebay AU.

Both black and white models available as of posting.

Pretty sure rough AU price in title is required.

yupo, after conversion its not a bargain.

      • +4

It is over $200 cheaper than buying locally, not sure what you mean by "it's not a bargain".

        • -6

          its not a local model…
its about $50-70 saving from a gray import.

        • +9

          @tuzii:

Not looking to pick a fight, but it is the same model as you would get if you purchased from JB or Google locally. And how is your gray import a "local model"? $50-$70 savings is savings.

        • +1

@chewkl: Does it cover all the Australian bands, I think that is what tuzii is referring to and also the 2 year warranty local stocks get .

    $813 AU, total rip off

    • How exactly is it a 'rip off'?

    • +1

    • Compared to Samsung, Apple?

For a 2016 flagship grey import?

Kogan is selling S7 supposedly with Australian Warranty at $699, S7 Edge for $750. S7 grey import model is at $521.
iPhone 7 is $899 dollars, but it's an Australian model.

All those are from Ozbargain and they haven't even reached 20 upvotes. So even those price I think aren't attractive. I wouldn't write this deal off as a rip off, but… it's pricy for a grey import of last year's flagship I reckon.

        • +2

Yeah I agree. Pitty $574.99 wasn't in AUD, that's about where I think a 2016 flagship phone should be but I guess Google disagree. I recently bought another 2016 flagship phone, the LG V20. Albeit perhaps not quite as good quality it doesn't look too far behind. Cost me $514 after cashback and discount codes.

At the end of the day the new model isn't too far away so this >$800 phone is going to depreciate faster than normal.

  • Decent price but how would the warranty work?

    Also, what about customs fees?

    • +1

Can't comment about warranty, but I am pretty sure no custom fees for items below AU $1k.

      • Wasn't that being changed to 10% tax on all imports?

        • +1

Not until the beginning of the new financial year.

        • Starts July 2017.

Not in place per website yet..

        • +3

Even then it's the suppliers responsibility to charge GST: https://www.ato.gov.au/General/New-legislation/In-detail/Ind…

        • @f4te: yeah so
          1) The vendor has to agree to it
          2) the vendor has to collect it
          3) the vendor has to then give it to the Govt

I'm sure plenty will charge it, but I wonder how many will actually hand it over. The EU has the same issue.

Another case of Something has to be done….this is something case closed

No they won't, at best you'll get a handful of larger operations like Amazon. All of the smaller and Chinese based vendors won't participate.

The EU has what issue? They collect it at the border so are nothing like Australia.

        • @Maverick-au: No, if your customer is in the EU, you're required to charge GST/VAT and pass it onto their Govt
          https://quaderno.io/blog/what-you-must-know-about-vat-if-you…

The issue was/is there's online site charging the EU tax, but pocketing it.

No, if your customer is in the EU, you're required to charge GST/VAT and pass it onto their Govt

It's not that simple, for example Denmark only requires businesses in other EU states to register in Denmark once they sell over around 300,000Kr and the rest is collected by the post office as are imports from overseas.

The issue was/is there's online site charging the EU tax, but pocketing it.

It depends on what they're selling as physical goods will get picked up at the entry to the destination country but people break the laws everywhere on the world.

At this price, you might want the comfort of local warranty.

    • yup!
id rather pay an extra $100 or so for aussie warranty.
plus the phone is pretty old now.

Cheapest is currently ~$1,079 @ JB Hi-Fi, so not too sure what local stock you're referring to.

plus the phone is pretty old now

        It's under 10 months old.

      • +5

        Pretty old..?

It's the current flagship which also happens to be newer than the iPhone 7.

        • +1

Will sion have new model. Price should drop then.

  • +1

The HTC U11 is almost out here in Australia for $999 and you will get 2 years warranty and a better camera, maybe that'll be more worth it.

  • +1

I agree, this is too expensive for a 2016 'flagship' which was pretty lacklustre when announced. I would definitely look elsewhere.

If you're dead set on 'pure Android' and you NEED a phone now, I'd probably try and pick up a Nexus 6P on the cheap and wait until the Pixel 2017 gets announced.

    • Hmm doesn't the 6p have a boot loop issue?

    • The LG V20 can be had for a shade over $500 right now too. Same principles apply.

      • +1

Good call, and the G6 for ~$600.

      • Where might I find this deal?

        • +1

Were you referring to my LG V20 comment?

LG V20 with "c5oz" 5% code gets price down to $521.55 and remember to use CashRewards to get another $7 cashback or $514.77 total. IMO no previous year flagship phone should be much over $500 but obviously not all share that view.

I have seen less known ebay sellers just under $500 but I'm happy to pay the extra $15 for peace of mind, that seller has been known to repair phones outside of warranty for OzBargainer's in the past and people generally receive their phones within a week.

          Extras:
          - USB Type-C cables (it comes with 1 but you'll probably want more, I recommend "BlitzWolf" but try to wait for a deal)
          - Case cheaper ones exist, this looks like one of the best ones out there
          - Tempered Glass Screen Protector
          - Spare Quick Charge 3.0 charger(s) (try to wait for a deal)

If you get the phone + all the extras you're still well under $600. Hope this helps. The G6 is even an even better phone, slightly better camera, battery and shape more like the S8 (same screen size) but over $600. I weighed up my options and stuck with the V20.
