Garmin Forerunner 630 Bundle with HRM for $259.99 inc Delivery @ Pushys

220

Pushys have a great price on the Garmin Forerunner 630 bundle with HRM.
I picked up on a few months back when Rebel had them on sale for $299. Apart from some occasional problems with it losing bluetooth connectivity with my phone, I'm very happy with it.

  • Just be aware there is a new model coming later this year and an upgrade coming to Connect IQ, so you may not be able to run new apps coming through on the new IQ platform. That said, these things still have excellent functionality and if you don't need to be at the bleeding edge of running/smart watches it's a good buy.

    • Hi mate, sorry for noob question. I just need the watch to connect to strava for basic stats. Does this mean that in the future i can't use Garmin connect with the watch ? No backward compatibility? Thanks

      • no it'll work with Strava and garmin till it is a relic

      • If you have a phone that supports ant+ or bluetooth light, you can just use a chest HRM to record your HR via an app on your phone, using your phone for GPS.

      • No, for all their faults that's not how Garmin does things - there'll be backwards compatibility. You can still upload data from really old stuff like 205's and the like. It'll just be new apps and things you might have issues with. Strava compatibility won't be affected.

        • Ah ok, thanks a lot guys. It may be just enough for my purpose. Cheers

    • Was tossing those two as well.

      Opted for the 630:
      - Don't really use wrist HRM :)
      - Wifi in 630
      - Better color for me :)

However, 235 will be handy if u use wrist HRM

      • Heaps of tests on Youtube that shows wrist HRM are useless (or at least far inferior to chest strap)..

Not sure about the 235 though..

        • It's useless for weightlifting, HIIT etc but not for running and cycling. For run/cycle, accuracy is still more or less 5 bpm. But yes the chest HRM is still the more accurate. :)

        • +1

If you're at all serious about running & cycling you wouldn't use a wrist HRM.

  • I bought the 630 with HRM for $350 maybe 8-9 months ago.

I wear it as my daily watch now.

  • Thanks, ordered. Great price. Time to toss out the five year old 910XT.
Considered waiting for 635 or similar but it will be more than 2x this price and the optical HR (wrist) that it probably will have is not mature technology yet.
