Free Windows Vista Advisor Tshirt from Microsoft

How much do you love Windows Vista? A little bit? Oh, not at all huh? Well what if you were offered the chance of winning an entertainment package worth $15,000 to spend 30 minutes of your precious time looking at why Windows Vista is just so damn fantastic? Ah…thought that might change things.

In what can only be described as an act of utter desperation to overcome Vista’s mostly negative public perception issues, Microsoft Australia has put together an online “Fact or Fiction” quiz all about Windows Vista. Every person who enters gets a certificate of completion and, if you are an OEM system builder, you get a Windows Vista Advisor polo shirt too. Ah the temptation is overwhelming and I sense the greed welling up within you.

PS: You need Microsoft Silverlight installed.

So. How can I be an OEM system builder to get the free Tshirt?

Oh, also this is what happened when I go to that page

What does it tell me about the quality of the Microsoft product?

Nah. It is the Silverlight plugin that died, and Firefox is merely reporting the error, suggesting maybe it is a good idea to restart Firefox as well…

Doesn’t ask for a OEM distributors license number or anything. I completed the quiz + form and it just said you should receive the t-shirt within two weeks.

From the terms and conditions:

You must be a Local OEM Channel Partner. Definition of a Local OEM channel partner (“partners”) includes resellers and System Builders who resell other branded hardware (PCs and Servers) with Microsoft OEM Licenses or who build hardware to sell directly to end customers.

Sometimes Microsoft gets cranky and stops these sort of things, other times they go through as normal. I’ve been told two weeks as well :)

2 weeks also, but you need to have a hotmail or msn account for sign in after completing the quiz.~

you just need a Windows live ID it doesn’t have to be a hotmail email address, you can use any email address when you sign up for a live id.

They will probably just laugh at you — the only reason why “Windows Vista Advisor” exists is because of its complicated feature/pricing matrix between different versions of Windows Vista. There is only one desktop version of Mac OS X.

Alternatively you can walk into your local Linux User Group and pose a question, “So I would like to share documents, watch a bit of DRM-ridden WMV files, and play some DirectX 10 games sometimes. Which Linux distribution should I choose? Anyone?”
