Cheap. And in another thread i had people doubting me when I said that the console should be on par with its competitors by christmas. Seems it might be heading that way. Shame about the retailer.

    • +5

Gotta give credit where credit is due, I was the one who said it wouldn't go down below 380(20% approx) and this deal put it below that! Bit the bullet and got it.. i didn't realize I had a $10 credit from Kogan for referring a friend too!

  • Not many games yet… :(

    • Zelda should keep most people occupied until mario comes out

    • +4

Zelda BOTW, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Snipperclips, ARMS - those have kept me more than busy for months and I'm still playing all of them regularly.

Splatoon 2 is out soon and a heap of quality before the year ends with Mario + Rabbis, NBA 2K18, Pokken Tournament DX, Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Those are just the ones high on my list. There are plenty of quality games out and coming.

      • Sigh, if only super smash bros is in the pipeline ~~~

        • It came OUT of the pipeline in 2014.

    • Too many. They might need to pace them out if anything. Hard to keep up.

  • Nice, last time this deal was on ($375 + delivery), it was over very quckly. You guys better get in quick.

  • Better get on it quick. It's a hourly deal that expires in 20 mins.

  • Woah, get on this fricking deal, that's amazing.

  • How long is the expected delivery time frame based on previous deal? A week?

  • Well **** ordered from EB the other day.

    Deal ends at 9pm.

    FINALLLLY BOUGHT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Have they decided to let people backup game saves yet?

  • Wow, nice find OP.

  • thanks op!

  • thanks great post OP!

  • I can't figure out why the price is so low, aren't they selling really well and isn't Nintendo saying they will struggle with supply. I dont understand the economics of price, I suspect there will be delays with their big games and they're expecting a slowdown in sales. I think I will wait a bit longer I expect it to be sub$300 in a year. Its still a great deal.

    • +2

I'm not 100% sure why but I can say that this discount price is almost the same as it is in Japan's retail price after tax. Which is what I would pay, wouldn't have paid anything more than that in AU.

    • +1

not sure about why its on sale here, but the sales here (switch sales figures) are nothing compared to US and Japan. In those countries, Finding a new nintendo switch for under regular retail price is a dream and finding one at SRP would still be pretty hard. Here, you can walk in most stores and they have them in stock.

      • I suspect it has to do with pricing… $470 sounds steep AF compared to the $299 price point in the US… even after you account for the exchange rate, it's still more expensive. Bringing it down to a price around the US/JP prices makes it actually a tad harder to get around here.

        • +1

$300 USD is about $400 Aud. Add 10% for Sales Tax (Which is never advertised in the US) and it brings us to $440 Aud. Its not so different that the price would be the only factor in sale

        • So when the Switch was released I saw that an ebay seller had sold his for very cheap like around $300 so I thought I would ask how he could have sold them that cheap without being a scam or losing money.

          he sent me this

"I own an small business with an ABN I only paid $229 AUD each for the launch consoles, sorry we only had 4 available and I got a Neon Console for myself. I won't be getting anymore we had hoped to sell them in store and have people place Pre-Orders but the economy isn't that great lately here in WA!"

So from that I'm guessing Kogan is still making $144 a unit but in this case this guy only bought 4 so who knows if it gets cheaper if you purchase 1000+ units.

    • For a lot of platforms, the money is in the games. A little bit how cheap printers are sold at cost or even loss-leaders but its made back with expensive ink.

Possibly an item for Wednesday night on Ebay? Im thinking sell a few now at this amount and list the rest up on Ebay with Ebay funding some of the purchases?

    Time will tell I guess

    • Whats on Wednesday?

      • The hourly sales.

  • Good thing i resisted temptation for the $400 deals on the weekend, missed the last kogan one

  • how come they haven't started bundling with games?

  • Damn, refreshed and the price went back to normal.

  • Nooo I'm too late :(

  • +2

For those who missed out, don't worry just wait until Monster Hunter is out.

  • Thanks, bought 2. Placed in cart 3 min before 7pm but completed checkout at after 7pm, surprised it still went through.

    • That's cause it ended at 9pm?

      • +1

yea but I'm on the WA side haha so 7pm

        • +1

Was afraid you were going to say that! :-P

  • um…i mistakenly placed 2 orders. have to cancel one

    • I'd buy one off you :)

      • +3

If you are anywhere near Richmond or Collingwood and are happy to pickup, you can have the one I ordered. Didn't realise the release date for Mario was 27th of October.

        • I'm in Hawthorn! Sent you a PM

  • +4

Congratulations to those who got the deal. I'm still waiting for at least 5 to 6 grade A games. Zelda looks good but I can wait

  • Kogan also seem to be the best place to get the pro controller.

    $85 delivered.

    Has anyone got anywhere better?

    • +2

It has been as low as $69 at Target eBay and constantly at $79 in store.

  • Missed it ,do you guys think their will be any other deals under 500 dollars for switch with a game before july

    • 15% off Ebay has come up like 5 times in the past month, that would get you a console + choice of game for about $470

  • Since I own a Wii U I can't see a compelling reason to buy this. When there are some decent games only on the Seitch I might nab one.

  • is there any way to set up alerts for flash sales on the switch console? i've missed out all 3 times!

    • I followed ozbargain on twitter and set up notifications. I get them within a few mins of the deals being posted. Only downside is that all deals are notified. I would suggest putting on notifications till you get the Switch deal and then turning them off :)

      • twitter and set up notifications.
how to do the set up notification?

        • Do a search on the site with the top-right search box. Then on the right hand side of the results, before the results, is '! Create alert' button.

      • dont think ill have the mental discipline to withstand stupid deals from kogan. I'm only interested in one!!!

  • -2

Saw those shitty joycons on sale for $110 at JB Hifi. What year is it? 2009? Good luck with that.

  • anyone got any reply from Kogan regarding the delivery date?

    • I ordered one through their eBay store on the 19th and received dispatch notice yesterday. Don't even bother to contact Kogan about this. They will just repeat whatever it says on the website.

    • Ordered the switch and got a dispatch notice the very next day, which is sooner than I wanted to be honest because I'm currently still overseas.

    • ordered 26th

      saying 6th July will dispatch.

good news is i am only into splatoon 2…..

  • Just got a email from kogan, there will be a delay, they will ship from 6th July

    • Same :( got a $10 credit though and bought a $25 case for $15 so all good 😁

  • +2

Everyone may be getting Switches sooner than they think!

So the order history in my account is still saying expected dispatch on the 7th of July but I received the package today!

  • I missed out on this deal but was lucky enough to have gotten the grey deal that came up and mine also got dispatched today. Pretty surprised actually!!

  • Yep got mine today. Will hold off on pro controller and wait for this 8Bitdo SNES Pro controller. Looks good especially the rumble support. Hopefully will be a bit cheaper too.
