This is the first Subway deal I've ever been willing to + and take advantage of. Thanks foodee/OP!

  • +22

Off topic but what's going on with the eat fresh club? I haven't had any offers from them since the past two months.

    • +3

Likewise, no deals for a while now. I just messaged Subway on Facebook asking, will let you know if they get back to me.

      • +2

I would like to know too. They used to have Buy one Get one free once a month for a week at a time.

      Reply from Subway:

Hi bonezAU, thanks for getting in contact with us. The Eat fresh offers were recently stopped to make way for new ideas, however national promotions and offers are still available.

Not really sure what to make of that. What new ideas? Where are they? I would have assumed that anyone in the marketing business would be smart enough to actually come up with the new ideas before they stopped the existing ones.

      • Do I still get the free cookie survey thou???

      • sub of the day initiative i assume

        • +2

          That's a pretty pathetic response.

I was at Subway the other day and realised my favourite subway was the sub of the day. Sub of the day was $8, my subway is usually $8.15 at that store. Seemed a bit pathetic if you ask me!

      • Does that mean they stopped the birthday offer too? Nooooooo

        • Birthday is still good. I used it three weeks ago.

  • +1

    Wow.

Totally putting this in my calendar

Heading to subway right now for tea actually 😂

    • They don't sell tea there, just sandwiches and cookies.

  • +1

    That's lunch sorted tomorrow week.

  • +1

So this works with the $5 sub of the day? Because if so, that's a $5 foot long essentially :)

    • yeah I hope so, that'll be good.

    • Yea, as it says "Purchase any Sub, Salad or Wrap and receive another of same product purchased to an equal or lesser value"

    • +1

      $5 footlong (down from $7/$8).

Or a $7/$8 double footlong? I am going double footlong!

      • Hahaha as much as I love the idea of a double foot long I wouldn't not be able to fit it in no way..
And it's never as good if you save it for later :/

Btw at my local I think it's $8.25.

        • +5

I love the idea of a double foot long I wouldn't not be able to fit it in no way

          Tightarse?

        • Alright. :P

  • FYI, possibly not all stores. Our local subway stores dont seem to participate in these type of deals, tipping this will be no different. Dont accept discount vouchers either… "participating stores only" they say

  • Thanks OP. Is this applicable to both sizes?

    • +1

It says "Purchase any Sub, Salad or Wrap and receive another of same product purchased to an equal or lesser value"

  • +1

I'm glad I'm not working at subway on Friday

  • +5

Working at Subway, will take sick leave on the day!

    • Rep code of conduct violation? :^)

    • +8

OP never claimed this wasn't jumk food.

Having said that, given that you can choose/refuse any filling from a bunch of vegetables, I'm not sure if you can make a blanket statement like that.

    • ?? What do you call HEALTHY food?

      • +3

Mcdonalds fruit bags and salads xD

  • +1

How thick is the 6 inch?

    • +2

      You mean girth?

    • +1

Not as thick as they used to be. Used to get a 6inch and be full, now I need a whole footlong.

      • +7

That usually happens when you've had a few, I think it's from elasticity.

  • Combining it with my local $7 footlong of the day.. for two footlong's for $7 here is to hoping.

    • If you don't mind me asking, where's your local that offers $7 foot long of the day? I've never seen this in Sydney before and I visit a lot of food places xD

      • Katoomba.

        • Oh lol there's why!!

        • @AlienC: Hmmm, while that looks good it doesn't seem like there is any list of 'participating stores' and you would think my local would advertise this if it were available..

        • +1

          @pennypincher98: doesn't hurt to ask.

        • @pennypincher98: Mine's $8 and I live in a tiny city. $8.25 for Sydney ain't too bad.

        • @StoneSin: That's last time I checked (several months tbh), I don't normally even view subway as a viable option considering the cheaper alternatives..

Can't help noticing a $2 for $16 sub foot long deal after 5pm though so might be more.

        • @pennypincher98: Yeah Subway is going broke, that's why :P

      • Can verify North Sydney Miller St store does

  • +2

Pretty good of Subway. They are essentially giving away two meals per sale (one to customer, one to Foodbank) for a whole day.

    • They give foodback $0.20 to source the meal

      • +1

20 cents? Wow… hope that's not right. The offer said they will give a meal to FoodBank.

        • Yeah if you look at the video of the ad it says so down the bottom

        • +1

          I found it:

"Subway® will donate $0.20 (value of the food for Foodbank to source a meal) for each purchased sub, salad or wrap in Australia to Foodbank to help feed the hungry."

Perhaps the "meal" is a museli bar bought in a high bulk quantity or something!

  • My Subway has gone down the crapper. In the evenings one person runs the whole place, so the queues and long and it takes a long time to make a sub. That person has to handle the back, take orders, make the sandwich and then operate the register.

When I see a queue like that, I walk out. You want to save a few bucks an hour by operating on a skeleton crew, fine. But it's going to cost some sales.

    • +1

      Should leave feedback…
Or open the door and shout something about it then leave.. If I were a business owner I'd want to know if people were getting pissed off at my harebrained cost-saving schemes.

      • They're getting smart. They don't give you the docket to do the survey.

And in any case, as if they're going to listen to me. If they have to choose between customer satisfaction or profits (via cutting costs), profits are always going to come first.

        • Yeah I know what you mean.. Still, if your level of disgruntlement reaches its peak you could take a page from the book of Kramer: https://youtu.be/Lo-Ul0tWHpg

  • +4

Is there a list of participating stores or would we have to go to the physical stores to check?

    • I'd call up to make sure

  • +5

Which ones are the participating stores?

    • Available at Swanston St/Bourke St Mall

    • There was a huge poster on the window of the subway I went to. I double confirmed when I ordered also. No Queue in the store that I went to (Exhibition St, Melb)

  • @Peunda and YellowKnight

Giving details of the participating stores would be too hard. Only way to find out is ask at your local store.

  • -2

I read you have to buy a drink too to get the offer. Not sure if this is true

    • Nope, works without any other purchase

  • Too bad subway fillings taste terrible. Love that rubbery chicken that resembles anything but actual chicken. You'd probably get better flavour from canned chicken meat from Coles

    • +4

I agree their meat is terrible but I'm still going to buy one today coz it's cheap. Same reason why I occasionally buy Domino's. It's definitely not for the taste.

  • +1

Anyone done this yet? Almost lunch time!

    • Soon my friend, soon.

    • +1

Have - was great! Despite confusing the staff by asking for my regular foot long order to be charged as 2x 6 inch to get the BOGOF

      • +1

I didn't even think of this, great idea! better than trying to slide down 2 footlongs over lunch break.

      • You should have just ordered two 6 inchers then said no need to cut.

Looks like Chatswood Westfield is participating, they've got the poster and the balloons.

    • I'm eating my first sub now :)

All the staff were dressed as pirates with full piratey make-up.

Also, there were free mini cookies at the check out, I nabbed a handful of those too.

  • i'm going to go in around 2:30PM when the rush it over.

  • Is this happening at all the stores? Or "participating" stores only?

    • "at participating restaurants" Good luck !!

  • Is the Subway on Glen Osmond Road participating?

    • Hey neighbour ;) they usually do participate in deals like this from my experience

      • Cheers neighbor. You got yours?

        • Nah not in the mood for subway today

  • +2

cnr bridge and pitt st sydney not participatng

    • The one a block behind Wynyard was ok. Had a sign there.

      Happy world sandwich day!

  • Don't forgot the entertainment book has this deal too. Buy a sub and a drink and get a sub and a drink free.

    • Can you combine and get 3?

  • Picked up a couple subs on my way back to the office this morning, this was at like 10am and was VERY busy. One for lunch and one for dinner, as I'll be staying back late at work with the electrician for a new UPS being installed into our server room. Gotta turn off all the systems!
Didn't even know the deal was today until I saw all the balloon and signs up at the store as I walked in.

    • Location?

  • Church St, Parramatta is participating.

  • Mascot (suburb, not airport) don't seem to be particiapting

  • Bacchus Marsh were participating, but literally no one out of the 6 people in line knew about it despite the signs on the walls.

  • Guys, generally you probably won't need to ask. Surry Hills subway had a sign up at the start of the queue. I went first thing in the morning and there were 1-2 people there already.

    Great deal! Thanks OP

  • +1

You definitely need to mention the offer.. my subway had the posters around the store but was trying to trick the unaware and charge full price! But if you mentioned the offer they corrected the price/made another sub. They also only had white bread available.

I was shocked at the price though.. $11.25 for a steak and cheese footlong! Last time I think it was $9 something and I thought that was expensive! Also seems to be a bit smaller. Good value at 2 for 1 but at regular price, no thanks..

Ha ha you must see the live map GO.. Ausies.. GO….
    https://www.subwaylivefeed.com.au/

  • Anyone know where is the list of participating restaurants?

    • I visited two stores today that were running the promo. Just call your local store to confirm.

  • Just got to my local subway and they've ran out of bread. 30 minute wait. That's subway Seaford Sa. Going to wait the 30 minutes.

I thought I should point out something a friend told me today. Subway are only donating 20c, $0.20, per subway purchased to charity. Compare this to McDonalds who donates $2 for each Big Mac on Mc'Happy Day. I thought it was pretty crummy. They shouldn't have made it buy 1 get 1 free, and given $2 to charity for each sub instead. I know it is cheaper to buy a meal overseas, thus reduced contribution, but they could have done so much more rather then giving people here, who don't need it, extra subs. I envision that a lot of people are buying a sub today thinking they are making a bigger difference than 20c.

*Valid only on 3rd November 2017 at participating restaurants. In-store purchases only. Purchase any sub, salad or wrap and receive another of the same product purchased to an equal or lesser value. Additional costs for other extras apply. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. Subway® will donate $0.20 (value of the food for Foodbank to source a meal) for each purchased sub, salad or wrap in Australia to Foodbank to help feed the hungry.

  • Remember why I don't buy subway now, was pretty ordinary, but two for $12.75 I'm not going to explain (no idea why I got charged an extra $2 for pineapple which was ment to be 0.60c but I couldn't be bothered arguing after being in a 10 minute que)

  • +1

    I got mine. :)

Airport West store. No signs or balloons up, had to ask. There was a two-second delay while the guy thought about it and then said yes. It was like he was hoping no one would remember!
