And not 1 point per $1.

You can collect 1 flybuys point for every $2 you spend on eligible eBay items, up to a maximum of 5,000 points per transaction, when you check out using PayPal.

        Same here:

You can collect 1 flybuys point for every $1 you spend on eligible eBay items, up to a maximum of 5,000 points per transaction, when you check out using PayPal.

What's it say for you in the FAQs page? https://www.ebay.com.au/flybuys/l1/faqs

I'm getting gypped here. Maybe because I buy too much crap on eBay? Both my accounts say I could have earned 80+ points over the last 60 days.

        • +2

I'm only getting 1 flybuys point for every $2 also

        • FAQ page says the same thing for me:

You can collect 1 flybuys point for every $1 you spend on eligible eBay items when you check out using PayPal.

Normally, there is a maximum of 5,000 points per transaction.

During special promotion periods, you may be able to collect more than 5,000 points in a single transaction.

That’s really odd how yours is 1 per $2?

        • @matthewk85:

Welp that settles it, simply made a new ebay account for $1 for every $1

        • I've got the same too :(

In saying that, it's not linking for me.

      • +1

1 point per $1 for me also. How odd.

    • Can confirm mine says 1 point for every $2 spent too. Oh well.

    • +1

if only this link was possible before the major purchases i did on ebay …

  • +1

Thanks, saw this pop up the other day but didn’t look like it was active yet!

  • Is this better then 1 percent back from cashrewards?

    • +12

What’s even better is that they combine!

Possibly, Alongside Qantas points per spend as well if you do it correctly. For anyone wondering how to stack, go to this post and see :) Tracking is subjective however and might not work everytime for QANTAS/Velocity stores.

      • :o

      • …Maybe.

Read through and most people who tried it said it didn't work.

        • Yeah it really depends, but worth a try if you’re getting a big purchase I reckon.

        • @doweyy:

Guys 100% will stack, i use Q points mall, velocity points mall and then cashrewards. Now with this you can earn 4 ways in one shop. Use an Amex card thats like 5 lots of points for every 1-2$ spent :)

        • +1

          @koconder:

I tried the steps in that post for about ~5 transactions and every time I only got the tracking email from the list portal I clicked through.

    • +9

      por que no los dos?

  • Not sure if it's targeted?

I received the email on my secondary account and when I click on it, it requires you to sign into your ebay account to link them.

I signed in using my main ebay account and it still linked perfectly fine.

  • +8

Haven't got that email (yet?), but I could link my accounts from the page posted. Thanks.

  • +15

Oh damn, you can get ebay vouchers with your flybuys points now too!! same rate as flybuys dollars; $10 for 2000 points.

      • LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • +2

Off topic, I know, but does anyone know if you are able to use voucher codes (eg PREZZY) with the gift cards you buy from Fly Buys?

        http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/certificates.html

That link refers to vouchers vs gift cards, but the Fly Buys page refers to them as vouchers.

        • +2

seems like the voucher is treated like discount codes,
          Never know until someone try

        • +2

          @BelowSubZero:

Yep, pity. I'll test once I'm able to get my damn account to link.

In saying that, even if you can't use discount vouchers as well, it's still awesome to be able to use FlyBuys points on eBay rather than the normal Coles/Kmart shops I do.

EDIT: Durr… The codes only work when using PayPal to pay… Well… Let's see.

EDIT 2: Tried anyway and can confirm you can not use FlyBuys voucher with other vouchers.

        • T&C point 2.1 Using your eBay voucher
You can use your voucher when you check out on eBay with PayPal or a credit card. You can only collect flybuys points on the total eligible transaction cost (excluding postage and delivery charges and any other ancillary charges not included in the eligible item price) when you use your voucher at checkout using PayPal.

Vouchers cannot be converted back into flybuys points, and cannot be cancelled once they are issued.

You can only redeem one voucher per transaction at checkout. You cannot use your voucher in conjunction with any other eBay coupon, voucher or redemption code.

You must use your voucher in one transaction only. Any balance not used in your transaction cannot be used for another transaction. Multiple items can be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction).

        • +4

@tomsco: Last bit I'll add on this. Just refreshed my FlyBuys dashboard on eBay and the points calculated on the full transaction amount, not the discounted amount (ie. got points for $100 spend, not $80 spend).

        • @tomsco:

I'd avoid doing this. Aside from the lack of combining mentioned above, it normally results in an inability to get a refund.

I'm sure they'll have to remediate it if you complain if you did need to get a refund, but it's more hassle and more risk on you.

What happens if I return items that I’ve purchased using my eBay voucher?

If you return items purchased using your voucher, we can only issue you a new voucher if you’ve returned all items from the transaction. If you only return one item from a multi-item transaction, we won’t be able to issue you a new voucher.

Watch out for clauses like this. Given our family shops at Coles I think I'll still use FlyBuys points for groceries.

      • +1

Isn't that an attempt to anull statutory refund rights, and therefore not binding? AFAIK, no matter what tender the retailer chooses to accept, they must honour those rights.

    • since when did this happen??

    • Why is it better than converting Flybuys points to $$ while making payment at Coles though? The simplest method to use Flybuys points I know of.

      • +3

To be honest, it's a mental thing.

I could get $100 off an eBay item, or $100 off a Coles shop - at the end of the day, I've only spent $100, but got $200 worth of purchases.

Someone I know would prefer the $100 of the eBay purchase, more so because it's a one off special buy, vs the groceries which you budget for… even though they're the exact same amount out of pocket.

Personally, I did convert some FlyBuys points to eBay $$$ just to test, but in hindsight, think I'm worse off. You can't use a voucher with a discount code. So if I just use the Flybuys points for Coles, etc, now I could have a $100 eBay item for $90 out of pocket (10% discount code) and $100 of groceries.

        • Exactly.. That's one of the reasons I prefer to use Flybuys points at Coles.. No extra effort required too.

  • Linked my account thanks!

  • +11

    Sorry!
    Error while linking with flybuys.

    • +4

Tried again a few more times, and:

      you’re ready to start collecting
      flybuys points on eBay!

      shows up at https://www.ebay.com.au/flybuys/dashboard

      • -1

        Troll?

      • +1

Omg thank you! I linked mine through this and my flybuys appears too! I wish i could directly pay with flybuys instead of converting to vouchers. Woah that would be a massive game changer!

      • Same here

      • I logged into flybuys first then used this link … Worked perfect - Thanks!

    • +1

Got that, tried again & found it linked successful.

    • +4

      Getting the same issue :(

      • +1

Eventually went through after 40 or so retries.

    • +6

Tried ~30 times, failed all the time for me.

      • +2

        No luck here either.

      • +3

        Same
Meh, this finally pushed me over the edge to start a new account… Might get me a few extra discount vouchers too!

      • Yep, same.

      • Tried again now, failed, failed… succeeded!

    • +2

log of from flybuys website then try again from ebay link. This worked for me

      • This. Cheers

        • This… sadly did not make any difference for me :(

  • +24

Sounds to me like Amazon is coming.

  • So, I'm assuming you just need to link it once. Which hopefully means you can still go through velocity store or Qantas online for air points as well. In addition to any payment reward.

  • +1
    • Cash rewards

    • Qantas FF Points

    • Flybuys

    • What next ?

    • +3

      Velocity

    • are you able to do cash rewards and QFF together?

    • +3

      What next?

      Amazon.

  • I got the email about it (1 point or every $2 spent), but get an error when I try to link.

Edit: Apparently limited to 100,000 users only. Maybe I missed out.

    • +1

Nope…just joined a few minutes back.

      • +1

I just received the email a few minutes ago and have just joined up - although I did receive the "oops, there's been an error" message the first time I tried. Clicked the "retry" button and a couple of seconds later the page came up confirming the link was successful.

  • +8

They give you $10 for every $2000 you spend.
You give them your spending habits and personal information:

"When you link your eBay and flybuys accounts, you are consenting to providing your information to both eBay and flybuys. Both eBay and flybuys will have certain rights with respect to your personal information and you should check eBay’s User Privacy Notice and the flybuys privacy policy to ensure you are familiar with the ways in which each of the organisations may hold and use your personal information."

    • +15

That's fine my spending habits and choice personal information are on offer to the highest bidder. Anyone else want a taste of hetzjagd's life? Well, better get your wallet!

    • +3

That's all? You have to spend $2000 to get $10 with this Flybuys thing? Meh!

      • +4

Well I really think WE are the product in this case.
Flybuys builds complex spending profiles which it can then share and sell to others. Having all of a persons eBay spending and their supermarket spend makes it that much more comprehensive.
Personally, I am not going to bother with this. Not because I particularly care about my Flybuys profile but because $10 per $2000 is too pissweak to motivate me. If they had done 2000 free points for signing up, then sure.

        • +2

Yeah about the only time I hit flybuys is when there are giftcard promos or supermarket spend promos that work out to more than 5.5%.

        • +1

I, on the other hand, thought 'how many points will they give me per purchase if I don't sign up?'. Since the answer was 0 then I felt it more advantageous to sign up.

        • @seanbaussie: The tradeoff (my information for their points) doesn't add up for me.

      • That's been the cost of Flybuys to the issuer for a very long time.

    • I find the easiest way to earn points is using the Coles '500 points if you spend $40' or 'triple points' coupons that I get in the mail, or sometimes from the bottom of Coles dockets. Otherwise yes, $2000 for $10 back (0.5%) is not very attractive

  • +2

Good one. Thanks. 1 point per $1. Had initial problem linking (said it had failed), but when I logged back into ebay it was up and running.

  • +5

    Sorry!
    Error while linking with flybuys.
    Please try again

    • -2

      same. already reached 100k maybe?

      • Gee. That's quick. I know OzBargainer's aren't the only users, but normally it's us that take up the quota. Still under 1000 clicks here

        • And in saying that, you would hope they would have a better interface to let you know the limits been reached.

        • +1

@tomsco: not yet, just keep trying.

    • +1

got the same error, message.. clicked try again and it worked…

  • +2

    It gives me error…

  • +1

Error error error error error error

    • +2

Why in the hell would they limit this promo?

  • +1

    Yup same here with error

    Edit: works now

  • +1

Managed to link both mine and a family members OK. Did receive an error message on the second one, however refreshing showed it linked fine.

The FlyBuys system probably under the pump. Keep trying…..

    • Where do you see that it linked? I couldn't see anything in account settings.

  • error here as well

  • So maybe Black Friday sales at Coles soon? 😂

  • We've crashed it!

  • Error. Am I too late?

  • Got this error;
    Sorry!
    Error while linking with flybuys.

I guess only 1 voucher per transaction, CMIIW

  • +1

    error too … cannot link

  • I give up, tried multiple times and on multiple browsers, still keep getting error

  • when did the offer email arrive?

    • +1

      I received it at 10.01am.
