Despite the coupon, this product is not ideal beside or inside a pool.

    • Wut? Relaxing by the pool to recharge is a well known concept for good health.

    Great charger & great price.

I purchased this 18 months ago for over $100.

    It’s a great device

I paid $120 at Repco when it was 60% off. I learned a lot that day.

Great charger though. Put it on small mode and it even does little SLA batteries.

      • I guess it depends how quickly you need something, we can always get it cheaper if we are willing to wait.

Its sitting on my bike at the moment on the bike/slow mode

  • Also a great price on their DC-DC Charger, If you're into the 4wd / Camping game.

  • I bought one of these a few months back. Have had to use it a number of times, and it's really easy to use. Much more user friendly than the big heavy steel box things I used to borrow from mates.

  • +1

The aldi onw when availavle is good….has charge profiles.

    • +1

Does it have a mode specifically for AGM? Borrowed my mates aldi charger, didn't have an AGM mode.

      • Yes it (the MXS 5)has AGM mode

    • and cheaper iirc.

  • Excellent charger and good price, but the company is bad. Customer service is atrocious, with little help…..

  • what is purpose of this? do you normally have to use it or its advised to use it to keep your battery in great condition?

    • -1

Keeping your battery is full is ideal, for best condition/longer lasting. Depends on your driving conditions, more useful if you drive infrequently, short trips, city driving, or have a start/stop engine.

  • Got mine on the recommendation from the RACQ (NRMA) and was well over $100 great charger great price

  • My supercharge battery died in like under 2 years and this had brought it back to life… Definitely recommend.

The store I bought it from recommended me this charger becayse warranty only applies to dead cells or something.

    • I had supercharge batteries (their premium model) die twice in four years. Didn't get any more than two years per battery.

I had this charger the second time, and it wouldn't bring it back for me despite three separate attempts.

Autobarn's testing device indicated that the battery required replacement. Sadly for me the warranty had expired, so I took the oppportunity to buy a different brand of battery. #neveragain

Good value and a good charger. We have the MXS7, and use it for camper (AGM) batteries, and put it on the cars every 3 months. It effectively doubles the life of car batteries for us. Battery in a 7 year old Civic still in very good shape.

For bigger batteries - eg N70s and above - a 5 amp might be a bit small.

  • Cant beat C-Tek, all the top European manufacturers such as MB, Porsche rebadge CTEK chargers.

Very good price. I got one last year around 110AUD somewhere else with additional quickconnect adapter as bonus. Even since have used it a handful of time. A very good and reliable charger.

    Two points though:

    1. If the battery drained too low it will not be able to charge the battery. It will need to charge the battery with a "not-so-smart" charger first up to a certain voltage then you can reconnect to this charger for reconditioning.

    2. If you are connecting to the car's battery for a long time, let's say for months while you are overseas or not using the car. It will not resume charging if the garage's main power supply is interrupted. Someone have to physically press the button again to start the charging.

  • I use one of these to tend the $220 battery on my dirt bike. It is a great charger.

  • How about MXS 7.0 is it also on sale?

  • Noob here. Does it charge a small passenger car battery?

    • +2

      Yes it will.

      • Thanks bought one

  • Any point in getting this for my HIlux?

  • Got a boat in the shed that doesn't get used all that often, would something like this be good for ensuring it stays charged and extending the battery life?

  • I’ve had this model for 5 years, as well as the CTEK MXS 25 Pro for my larger 4x4 batteries. They’re both in perfect condition after hundreds of uses and they’ve never missed a beat. Highly recommended.

  • This unit better ? MXS 5.0 Test and Charge..

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-CTEK-MXS-5-0-TEST-AND-CHARGE-…

    • Yes, not only because it is more expensive (ha!) but because it has testing features to see if the alternator (car's charging system) is working or not.
However, I don't think it's worth the additional $50 IMO - your mileage may vary.

  • Can someone tell me why I might need this? Often run PA speakers off a power invertor in my car (for a couple hrs). Could this help?

  • I have had one for a while - I was buying a new battery for one of my cars every 12-18 months because it'd die from not being used (a car that has done 800km in the last 12 months and was last driven in August).

This brought my battery back to life once, and this plus the quick connect charging port hidden under the front of the car has saved me a lot of effort in keeping the battery alive over the last two years I've had it.

  • Sorry for the noobish question, I have a motorcycle and a small car which this would definitely work with. But would this work on a volvo xc90 battery? Here's the specs for such a battery https://www.everybattery.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=EX-DIN88…

    Or does it even matter?

    • I don't think it matters (someone pleas feel free to correct me on this). As long as it's a sealed lead-acid or AGM battery, it should still just work.

  • Coming up as $95 for me?!?

    • original price was 109, looks like they raised it to 119.
