Dell S2716DG 27" QHD 144Hz G-Sync Gaming Monitor $779 Delivered from Dell (RRP $999)

90

In the market recently for a big monitor with high framerate and gsync and this seems to be a pretty good deal. Reviews seem to think it's pretty decent quality despite being a tn panel, and from the little bit I've played with it since it arrived I'd have to agree.

Good thing about the Dell gaming monitors is you can get gaming specs without the monitor looking like it should be sitting in your mum's basement.

I would have picked up this:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AOC-AGON-AG271QG-27-LED-Gaming-M…

    For $796

    Or this:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-Predator-XB1-XB271HU-27-WQH…

    For $827

Both 144-165Hz G-Sync displays but IPS so better viewing angles etc.

    • Which one has better ULMB?

      • No idea - I use G-Sync

    • Isn't g-sync typically for gaming? If so the viewing angles wouldn't really matter as you sit directly in front of the monitor?

    • so better viewing angles

Makes no difference when you're sitting in front of it.

Wait you don't tilt the screen 25 degrees away from you for maximum 360 no scope potential?

    • What code do you use to get them for those prices?

    • Think I'll just hold out for the ASOS ROG SWIFT to be on special, I realise I may be waiting a long time.

  • TN panel..

  • Ok maybe dumb question, but as I've seen monitors that use nvidia and amd tech with the graphics cards, is there a monitor that supports both?

    • Nope.
      One or the other.

G-Sync is generally considered the better of the two because it is a hardware level variable sync.

However, if you have an AMD card get Free Sync. If you have nVidia get G-Sync.
Dont really have any other option.

      • Ah dam, I bought a gaming comp that has an amd card in it and was going to upgrade to a nvidia card later down the track(take advantage of shadowplay) or whatever card is cheaper.

Bit annoying to be locked into a monitor. Hopefully theres a monitor that supports both in the future.

      • I believe there maybe variable frame rate tvs in the pipeline. Would be good for consoles that already struggle to maintain frame rates.
