$950 for a CANON 550D with Australian Warranty seemed cheap enough to post here

      It's not offical Canon warranty as the camera is grey import.

      Providing warranty in Australia is not the same as Local Canon Warranty. You would need to send your camera to HK or China to have it fixed - you may be without your camera for a long time!

        Incorrect - ShoppingSquare would provide a local warranty service, so you would ship it locally but it would be repaired by a 3rd party operator.

          Nothing wrong with grey imports. As long as the warranty they provide covers everything Canon Australia covers for local stock. Just because it came from another country doesn't mean its somehow inferior quality or more likely to break…

          that wasn't my point. I know there is nothing wrong with grey imports. I was informing those that may think it is aussie stock.
          Warranty is not all equal. Definitely not equal with Genuine local Canon warranty.

          A bargain is not something that you can get everyday. This price is normal for a grey import thus not a bargain.

    Not bad. But when you take shipping into the equation, you're better off with DWI.

      The $950 is inc postage, so this is about $65 cheaper than DWI with Shipping taken into account.

    Note it's KISS x4 version, usually $100 cheaper than 550D.
    Same camera but packaged for Japan.

    I bought the same kit from JB hifi for $1262 …

    I guess it's $300 more …but you get to pick it up straight away and no issues with warranty. I think it's worth it.

      $1262 from JB doesn't sound quite right.. You sure its 550D ?? I haven't found it below the 1500 mark.. You might have the 500D….

        I have got it for $1262 + $99 for 2 years extra warranty + 50 for sandisk 8GB high speed extreme sd card….all together paid $1410 ….it was hard negotiating this price….but i am happy in the end …it surely is 550D with twin lens kit !

          yes please post the receipt becuase i got the 550d with twin lenses for 1379$ and DSE and they offer a 2 week price garrantee so ill need prove to get back the difference.

    Ok will post it tomorrow from work….BTW, I managed to get the price of 500 D with twin lens kit + 2 years extended warranty + 8GB high speed sd card ….for $1065…..!!

    So if you negotiate hard, you can get it for that price.

    I only bought it on Last friday …from jb hi fi in perth.

    Is it just me, or is the $99 shipping just plain insulting, regardless of the net package price? :o

    It just smacks to me of an ebay style end-run around being honest about advertising the real price in the first place! I mean, SS are notorious for exhorbitant shipping, but this is outright bordering on deceptive!

    This is not the 550d, this is the Kiss X4, the cheaper Japanese version.
    There are no difference whatsoever though.
