    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380269…

samsung laser printer $60 each for 3 seems ok. dont need 3 though.

    • +3

you can buy 3 then sell 2 of them on ebay. ^_^

  • +4

so ideally u have to buy 3 items worth atleast $100 each
    neither positive or negative

  • +4

The only things that look decent in the electronics and computer section are:

22 inch LG 2ms screen $169 with free postage($155 from MSY)

    Lenovo S10-3 Atom N450 + Windows 7 + 6 cell battery netbook $319 free postage($362 on Static Ice)

Logitech Z506 5.1 speakers $99 free postage (cheapest on Static Ice is $98)

The others are fairly meh — prices are either above RRP or are cheaper elsewhere.

All in all the Netbook is probably the best buy in this category.

I think I'll pass after the last mess they made of their own promotion :D

    • what happened in that one?

  • The sony digital photo frames look alright

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320621…

Just ordered 3 :P with cashback it works out to be $58 each

Should make good xmas presents :)

    • +13

I recently somewhere read that digital photo frames are the highest discarded or most unwanted present at the moment. Good luck :-)

      • +2

it was also found to be the least desirable xmas present this year in the states. ;P

also these have pretty bad resolution. wvga

      • +2

problem is the gifts are always the crappiest ones with 800 x 480 or less.
        My phone is 800 x 480.

Why would I want photo frames showing blurry photos, and using sony incompatible crap?

      • +2

i sold the one i got last year

        • +2

          LOL Poor havoc-aus! hahahaha

        • Hahaha way to make a guy feel bad!

On the other hand, that British link finishes with

The survey was carried out by the British Video Association, who presumably want you to become frightened about the possibility of buying the wrong gadget for loved one, and go for the 'safe option' of getting them a … DVD instead.

    • Yes, this can be a good xmas present for the right people. Providing you will pre-load all the photos for them ;-)

I personally found lots of people are too lazy to load the photo and then render the device useless.
If you can providing all the support, this can be an excellent gift.

    • Videopro have these for $77 delivered at the moment. I'm guessing they are end of line.

Preloading photos on it and adding diamontes to the front to make it look like the DPFD72NBQ.

hm trawled thru the whole thing (be good if they had a search function) cant see a single decent thing.

  • Unfortunately, I am extremely wary of entering any further PayPal 'promotions' - I'm still waiting for cashback for the Happy Hour promotion back in September…

    • i got mine back quick and easy :)

    • so did i, easy transaction

      • Well lots of us were left waiting. In my case it took nearly a month longer than the last day they stated. And its not like thy could blame it on the turnout, since it was limited by them to 5000 or something. So I am wary now too.

For this promo they are saying 15th Jan, so I take that to mean I have to start chasing them up on the 20th, and will maybe get the money back by March.

    • absolute joke of a promotion really

  • +1

I think this is pretty good for gamers, you can select from COD:Black Ops, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, GT5, FIFA11 or PES11, all new games (especially the first three). On average you pay $120~$130 for 3 games, works out to be $40ish - works out well especially if you choose the first 3.

As for PayPal cash back I had no problems with the last $50 cash back, they even gave me a extra 12c :P

  • Does anyone know if this applies retroactively? I just bought a logitech remote on Monday (part of the clever christmas sale - I think) and also found out about this promotion today. I signed up for it today, not sure if I'll buy another 2 things, but if I do, would the first purchase of the remote count?

    • See the Q & A below: http://www.paypal-offers.com.au/ebaychristmas/

Q: What if I already bought an item from the eBay Clever Christmas Sale using PayPal before this promotion started?
A: You just need to register and buy another 2 items using PayPal from the eBay Clever Christmas Sale between 9:00am 24th November and 14 December 23.59pm (AEDST).

  • whats the link to fifa 11? is it xbox 360?

  • i have already registered for this offer. Do i have to buy all 3 item at once or can buy each item at separate occasion because the only decent thing i found is the Logitech Z506

    • i would suggest a group purchase to take advantage of this offer beucase you don't want to end up buying something you don't need.

      • totally agree, most of things are useless except a couple, for me atleast

  • I'm finding it quite hard to find 3 items I want that are:
    a) at least $100 each, (or all around the same price if all are less than $100).
    b) not a total rip-off.

I might just settle for 3 good PS3 games, Black Ops, Assasins Creed and FIFA11 or PES11 (already have GT5, otherwise that would have been a no brainer)

Hang on a sec, the soccer games are not showing up anymore, grrr.

And one more thing, are we supposed to get a confirmation email to say that we registered? I'm not touching this with a barge pole if I have no evidence, after last time.

    • +1

The soccer games can still be found here:

      http://deals.ebay.com.au/Christmas.aspx?cat=3

      near the bottom

Apparently they won't send you an email, so you should print the confirmation screen when you register… it will have your ebay acct name and paypal email

      • Thanks for that. Seems the soccer games are under electronics, and the others are under toys/Games,

    • +1

Watch out that the PS3 games are imported from overseas. Theoretically they're no difference to those genuine AU PAL version.

Imported games are generally lower value than local version. Harder to sell on eBay. EB Games and GAME do not accept imported trade-ins.

    • Confirmation email = NO

      Read the Q&A http://www.paypal-offers.com.au/ebaychristmas/

Do I get a confirmation email after I register?
No, you'll get a confirmation page which you can print.

  • Does anyone know how much fifa 11, assassins creed brotherhood and cod black ops trade in for?

  • Does it work with multiple of the same item?

Say if I buy 3 x GT5, so after cashback is $145 in total, which means that each game is less than $50 each. Bargain if it's allowed.

Another thing, on the GT5 page, it says Australian Compatible Version. anyone bought PS3 games from dungeon crawl, is it PAL/NTSC version? or does it matter in any way (DLC and online play)?

    • The Q&A says…

Am I eligible if I buy the 3 items in one single transaction?
Yes, as long as the items are from the eBay Clever Christmas Sale and you pay using PayPal.

So, I'd say that they credit the value of one ITEM, not the value of one transaction (make sense?)

      • Got it. I know that the cashback is going to be the price of ONE item only, hence my calculation above: $72.50 each for PS3 GT5. So $145 for 3 copies after the cashback (less than $50 each). Bargain!

Time to find couple of friends looking to buy GT5. Shouldn't be hard ;-)

  • Couldn't this promotion be easily manipulated?

Say I make 3 ebay sales worth $100 each stated as a local pickup. I then get my friend to buy them from me, pay via paypal and pick them up from me.

At the end of it I give the $300 back to my friend and split the $100 made from the deal between us.

I don't see how it couldn't work. Even with fees and all that you'd still end up in profit.

    • +1

Except you have to buy something from the Clever Christmas Sale? http://deals.ebay.com.au/

      • Bugger. aha..

    • i dont think so since "items purchased from the eBay Clever Christmas Sale (through the website http://deals.ebay.com.au)"

i dont think thats items people are selling but ebay is. but i might be wrong, i never buy from that section so i dont know

      • The PS3 games on sale is from Dungeon Crawl. I know that they have a store in Melb CBD. So I don't think that ebay is the seller. My guess is ebay is choosing some reputable stores to participate.

  • -1

im still waiting on cash back from my other promotion :(

  • Not much there to buy

  • I am also waiting for cashback from Happy Hour Promotion after heaps of emails to Paypal! and now they have email me I will get back credit in 2-3 weeks time. Does anyone know how come its taking them so long, it supposes to be in the Paypal account in October and look like still heaps people are waiting for their credit.

  • Buy 3 or more items using PayPal in the eBay Clever Christmas Sale and receive the value of the cheapest item paid back into your PayPal account. Up to $100 cash back!

    If you buy:

    1 x CASIO Keyboard $269
    1 x Canon Camera $259
    1 x Logitech Remote $249
    1 x FM Transmitter $10

    Only $10 cash back.

    • Yep - have to make EXTRA sure you didn't accidentally buy the FM transmitter or that $10 iPhone charger!

EDIT = I meant "accidentally" as in the normal course of buying stuff on eBay, you inadvertantly bought a charger without realising it was one of the promo items. Or worse… something cheap that you'd bought within the past month became a new promo item in a weeks time!

      What a dumb promotion!

      • Oh damn didn't think of that. Is there any way of checking whether previously bought items were part of the sale?

        • That's why they have the registration requirement.

      • Alternatively, if you aren't trying to get the $100, just register and forget about it.

If you happen to get some money 'cos u didn't know u bought 3 items from the list, that's nice.

But seeking and watching out … well, personally I'm not keen on that. But to each their own.

  • Where is the confirmation page that you can print ?

    • after you register, it has your ebay and paypal user id

      • Trouble is you can't go back and print it out, it says paypal user-id already used or something.

I'm a bit worried about what browser said above, about if you accidentally purchase something cheap in addition to your 3 initial items. You have no easy way of knowing if general items are in the sale or not. So basically, you either buy 3 items, and then don't buy anything else. Or forget about hte whole thing, which is what I'm doing now.

  • No sooner had I said I won't be partaking, due to the possibility of accidentally buying something cheap. The Sony 3D glasses showed up on the deal for $77 shipped, and I really wanted 3 pairs to go with my new 3D TV, I just couldn't help myself…
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320624…

Now I must be very very careful not to buy anything cheaper than $77 between now and xmas. At least not without checking the clever promo deals first. But yeah, what happens if they add something during the promo. Best to just not buy anything else I think.

Not a very clever promo eBay, or maybe its too clever?

EDIT: Just got an email from the seller saying

"Please note that PayPal is currently malfunctioning. To avoid this, we will be sending a manual payment request."

Good luck with that, PayPal is working fine from my end!

  • +1

make sure you pay it with Paypal or else it's not valid for the cashback.

You can still avoid the problem of getting cheaper cashback item by pay the cheap items not using Paypal. Because the promotion requires you to pay the items with Paypal to be eligible. So if you already bought 3 items that's eligible, just pay the subsequent items that you don't want to have cashback on using other payment methods for safeguard.

Also, anyone here knows whether it's ok to buy the same 3 items from the same seller and eligible for the cashback? Or do we have to buy 3 different items for it to be valid?

    • Am I eligible if I buy the 3 items in one single transaction?
Yes, as long as the items are from the eBay Clever Christmas Sale and you pay using PayPal.

From the Q&A section at the bottom..
      http://www.paypal-offers.com.au/ebaychristmas/

  • 3.Receive the value of the cheapest item into your PayPal account by 15 January 2011. Up to $100 cash back!

Anyone got theirs yet. I haven't, and I'm not holding my breath after the 4 week delay last time.
