I don't know whether it's changed but 3 years ago bottled Asahi was made under licence in China where as the cans were from Japan. In Europe they brew under licence in the Czech and well… It tastes like semi Czech beer too.
The cans from Japan are good, way better than the bottled crap which just tastes weird. YMMV.
Agreed. The bottles are quite different. Similar to Sapporo, the 660 ml cans are actually brewed in Vietnam and are much better than the locally brewed "under license" bottles. Hilariously, the Sapporo cans in the US (which taste similar to the Vietnamese brewed cans) are heavily pushed as imported….which they are….from Canada!
Agreed. Asahi Super Dry from Japan is a great beer. The versions brewed outside Japan (from China, I've also seen it from Thailand) are pretty ordinary.
Asahi Black is fantastic, too. You can get that online from Dan Murphy's (not in store). Only available by the carton, you can't just get a 6 pack or whatever. But that one is made in Japan and is a really good beer.
Would you still say 'a good thing' if it was brewed in Fukushima? :)

my local Brisbane DM is low on stock but they accepted my payment and price as long as I dont mind waiting 7 days before pick…..at this price, I dont mind at all..after trying the real thing in Japan, I could never buy the "brewed under license stuff" I only drink those when the are free at an office event…
I generally stay away from asahi in 330mb bottled and just stick to Stella/Peroni at 'free' functions. You get the idea :)

i always set it to pick up in 2hrs and then just pick it up anytime after. Longest i've left it sitting at the c&c is 2 weeks, they were fine with it.

long time asahi drinker.. long time other imported mainstream beer drinker too.. recently discovered local craft IPAs.. these all taste like dish water to me now.
My current fav is EXIT IPA
Been drinking double IPAs for the past 5 years (US and NZ ones are better than anything local) after a while you get tired of them and will enjoy drinking lagers again,
Craft beer tastes like someone threw different types of vinegar in some beer.
