I can’t see why they should discourage swapping vouchers. Unused voucher means the customers won’t do business with you that they otherwise will if there is a discount — it is all about consumerism. People are only going to pay what they are willing to pay, and the merchants know about all these so they created entertainment book to give you an illusion that you are getting a discount. Even if T&C says no swapping, it might be there to make those coupons feel more “exclusive”.
But then I might be wrong. I have never used entertainment books and probably never will so I have no idea…
You won’t have issues with the ‘tear off’ vouchers that make up the majority of the book. They are untraceable. I take my friends vouchers, and they take mine. We’ve never had a problem. The only thing you can’t ‘swap’ is the gold card that comes with the book. By the way, the 2008/2009 book just came out. So keep an eye out for it. ;)
So what you did use didn’t save more than the purchase price of the book??
I use my book maybe 10 times a year, but it more than pays for itself after the first 3 or 4 uses!! Doesn’t take many uses to make up $60 in savings (2008/09 edition is $65)!!
Depends on how you use it I suppose. If you go out of your way to use it then maybe it’s not a good idea.
I use probably 5% or less of the Book but it pays for itself more than a few times already.
A few comments: 1. Combining Entertainment Book Card to pay for dinner is a good idea. I used 4 cards at once when we had family dinner at Watergrill (seafood restaurant). We saved nearly $150. True story, I couldn’t believe it either. The Book says the maximum amount of Cards to be used at one time is three but they don’t strictly enforce it.
Some (most) restaurants do not cross the number off at the back of the Card, that means you can go again and enjoy the same discount, which is a win-win situation I thought.
With family went down to Mornington Peninsula, went to a few nice wineries and enjoyed good discounts. Also some other restaurants there.
If you ever need to rent a car, you can find various discount codes online but Entertainment Book’s code is the best.
I actually went back to some of the restaurants (without discount) after I used Entertainment Book.
The Melbourne one has a RRP of $65. But ask around, surely a friend’s friend’s friend can sell one for you for $45 or $50
Restaurants’ profit margins are much more than the discount they give. So don’t feel bad for using it. It’s a win-win situation.
You can search what’s in the Entertainment Book here http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/entertainment_books/ente... , that makes it easier to swap.
Also, I haven’t tried this personally, but you can potentially buy a Entertainment Book for $49 legitimately. As the last page of the Book states, a member is entitled to buy an interstate/NZ edition for $43 + $6 delivery. I don’t know whether they will allow me (in Melbourne) buying a Sydney copy for a mate in Sydeny and have it delivered to his place. But if you are prepared to pay $49 + postage, there is no reason why you can’t get a local Book for around $55, which is a good $10 discount for most people, if someone is will to buy/send for/to you

@undiesdownunder will you use your golf vouchers?
Hi Mar s
Did you get your entertainment book, and would you like to swap any vouchers? I also live in Adelaide. I live in the Northern Suburbs. Thanks!
$65 is the normal from anyone making a profit. $50 is what the place buys them for, and then they sell them for $65 and make $15 profit. You need to find a work place or somethign like that that buy them and don;t sell them for a profit…
anybody willing to swap from adelaide? willing to post my vouchers via snail mail. cheers!

I remember reading something in the terms and conditions of the book about not being allowed to swap (or sell, etc) any of the coupons in the book. Although I can’t see how they can stop people from swapping, the makers of the book probably wouldn’t be happy to find a forum dedicated to it. Just giving you a heads up.
