Slightly cheaper than the previous deals for local stock. Quite comparable to the Samsung 850 EVO line in my opinion. Mix of all three stores, and they generally lower the prices throughout the promotion, so I'll try to update this post whenever there is a price drop.

          Depends on your specific model! For a MacBook Air from 2012, for example, you'd use one of these NGFF adapters - but it will most likely be different for your model.

          macs had their own pcie version as m2 market didn’t exist ( starting around macbook air era) slightly different size and faster, ive never seen an adapter to make them work, little enough room inside let alone an adapter.

          some of the earlier macbook pros had std sata drives so for them it’s a straight swap.

          easy enough to check from the macbook model numbers and places like ocw have aftermarket drives and will translate macbook model numbers for what interface and drives will work.

          apple is all about design, engineering and service for creative people more than diy tinkerers …. i own macs and PCs and tinker with both and love them all equally.

        it’s not the speed of the nand, it’s the controller in the mx500 is different, also the bigger drives eg 500gb and up have wider bus and different chip die.

        for same price i’d go the mx500, though i do own mx100 and mx300 mx500 and never had any issues with speed or reliability.

        how effective are the power back up caps ….. if you kick the power cord during a file write chances are you had some data elsewhere in ram that didn’t make it onto the ssd …. it’s nice to have but i wouldn’t pay extra for it.

      MX300 uses better caps. Theres much better electrical current protection. MX500 cheapened out badly in that department

    • would you buy one of these and just chuck it in an enclosure and you'll get a portable 2TB ssd for < 700 instead of $1000 for a Samsung T5 Portable SSD?

        • poor performance, misreported capacity, lower than reported bandwidth

        I bought some SD cards recently and they didn't even last 5 minutes before it crapped out. ("AU" stock too)

        Same thing with fake 300000mAh power packs all over the place https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2MlOplkaTQ. I still want a good deal but man I can't trust anything on ebay anymore however much I want to.

        At the very least, the prices here are "reasonably" cheap, not "too good to be true" cheap, so if they're reputable I'm tempted to give it a shot.

          I would be worried if you are buying from Alibaba without Paypal protection, but the vendor is Futu (a division of Shopping Express) a fairly trusted seller with an Australian ABN, is selling through eBay Au and also you have Paypal Buyer protection with up to 180 days.

          If you're paranoid you can also take a video of yourself unboxing the product.

          sd cards and power packs are an issue for knock offs ….bought a battery for my mackbook and when it read the firmware and cells is was 1/2 quoted capacity …. but was 1/3 the cost of genuine battery.

          the guy with the crucial knock offs …. we’ll he reckons they are empty not just rescreened …might be a clip he might to try and get some followers ……. can’t believe everything on you tube …..

        the market for $20 sd cards and someone silkscreening in the kitchen is different to ssd, if they tried to take an evo 850 and screen it as an evo 950 it will show up as an 850 when you turn the PC an it reads attached drives….

        sd cards , yep people used to rescreen to things like sandisk extreme etc as it’s harder to read brand and model from firmware if you put into phone or camera.

      yep …. big and portable …i have a few 500gb SSDs i put in smaller cased when i did some 1tb upgrades work a treat on usb 3.

      PC Byte have matched those prices as of this morning. I just ordered some stuff and got a nice invoice for TRS

      And because I always forget the calculation, for X = (total including GST) > $300:

      X / 11 = GST
      X / 1.1 = total excluding GST
