  • Hmmm might tempt me to pickup a DSLR

    • +46

      Careful not to drop it.

      • +2

        Like it's hot

    • +2

Don't forget to checkout mirrorless, Fuji and Sony have a great range.

      • I don't even know what the different techs are :S It is for a starter camera for the wife.

        • +3

Mirrorless is the way to go mate. Lighter and often cheaper. Fuji, Sony and Olympus all worth checking out.

        • @nubzy: Any recommendations for landscape photography around $200-$300?

        • +9

@knobbs: For that price, you'll get loads more value from a second hand…

        • @nubzy: And Panasonic.
Panasonic and Olympus are Micro Four Third cameras that can share lenses and accessories.

        • +2

          @knobbs:

$200 will buy you an entry-level lens with no body to attach it to.

I'm not even that into photography, but I usually carry around $2K of gear with me. There's not really any point getting a DSLR or system camera unless you're willing to at least spend $500-600 (on sale) for a basic kit (a body and a kit lens or two to tide you over until you can buy some proper glass).

I'd check Gumtree for an older model camera if your budget doesn't stretch that far.

        • If you're interested in the Sony a6000 it's $717 at Harvey Norman atm which is cheaper than it likely will be at this ebay sale.

        • +2

Maybe just RX100 mk3 or mk5, she can take it anywhere and everywhere that way.

I personally do not like it as it is too small for my hands but for when I did own one, photos were good for the size.

        • @knobbs:
          I have a Canon 500D with Tamron 17 50 lens,will take $300 for it.
Camera has very low shutter count,I think just over 3000,looks as new, well taken care of.
the lens is a very good start point for beginners.
I have upgraded quite a while ago,do not need it anymore, just haven't bothered put it on Gumtree

        • I bought a rx100 III last year(although it's the sony refurb product, when we received it,it looked like brand new!)
@$587 after discount on sony ebay store(cant remember the exact amount)
          claimed the trs
they also send me a $100 eftpos card+$50 sony online store accessory card)

        • Mirrorless if u dont take selfie..jk

      • Why not Canon M50?? Just curious as I’m interested in getting one and the guy at Teds Camera suggested that one and not Sony or Fuji 🤔🤔🤔

        • Not a lot of mirrorless lens options on the market (AF-M) in comparison to AF-S. When using an adapter for AF-S use, there is a very noticeable delay (and sometimes it doesn't even find) in focusing. Even though it has a smaller body than your average DSLR, it's denser than you think.

        • Sony and Fuji have just been in it for longer, having a look now the Canon range does seem to be maturing though. You should probably try out each camera in store to see how you like each one. After a certain point, you will become quite invested in the eco-system due to lenses.

        • @madfree: I own the M5 and haven't had this autofocus problem with the EF adaptor. I've been very impressive with its responsiveness. And the EF-M lens aren't ridiculously expensive in my opinion. Not that that's going to save Canon in the MIL market - I think they left their run a little too late.

      • I am also looking for Nikon d810…

    • Aren't you a bit late? All the decent camera stores seemed to be in the previous 20% off deals.

      • Videopro are usually competitive. Tho the price will have changed due to the discount. With these guys you usually end up paying the same price regardless of 10% or 20% etc.

  • +8

Looks like even cheaper PC byte memory cards ;)

    • +3

It'd be a dodgy look if the prices were higher during the 20%

      • Looks like Shopping Express have done this. 128GB Samsung Evo Plus Micro SD: $41->$55.

    • I bought when store had 10% plus the ebay 15% that makes 25% , don't think it can get cheaper than that if so then that's great.

      • +13

        23.5% actually

      • Yeah not sure until tomorrow - I was thinking that the current 15% will become 20%…will be interesting to see!

        • +1

Extra 10% off will not be available tomorrow. 😊

        • @O O:

Aha thanks for letting me know! Time to buy up tonight

        • @urbancartel:

If you've used your Plus15 code already, then I would expect the cards to be cheaper tomorrow? (Assuming you're eBay Plus member ie. free shipping.)

        • @Charlie Dont Surf:

Yeah correct for singular - $15 down to $12 providing there isn't a spend limit which i couldn't find in the T&C's - but a little more expensive for the 4 deal $60 down to $48

        • +1

          @urbancartel:

          Fair enough. I'm looking at 2 x 128GB cards, tonight they are $72 combined ($2 x $40, less 10% store discount = 2 x $36). I've exhausted all my Pull5 and Push 15 codes! So the price for me stays at $72.

          I'm hoping tomorrow that it will be 2 x $40, less 20%, ie $64.

Will be interesting to see if any prices are tweaked. There is also Shopping Express to compare against.

    Thanks TA!
    Great deal :)

  • Does anyone think that price jacking actually results in higher profits? Do non Obzers google the prices of things before they buy them?

$479 for xbox one x after the 20% off. Woohoo. Seems to be the lowest price.

    • +4

Wait and see tomorrow if it's the same price

      • +6

Doesn't the $599 deal end tonight? If the price goes back to $649, then this brings the cost back down to $519.

According to the Microsoft.com webpage: Offer valid from 11 June 2018, 00:01AM local time to 24 June 2018, 11:59PM local time, while supplies last

        • Yep, spot on.

    • Doubt it will be that price as it’s already discounted as part of a current promo that ends tonight (Sunday).

  • +2

    delete please. sorry!!

    • We know roughly what PC Bytes deals will be like based on the many past experiences with the 20% off deals.
The current deals seam far better. Get in quick!

  • +3

should i do PC Byte now or tomorrow..with Ebay plus, seem like it's 25% off now.

tomorrow just 20% off?? any thought

    • +3

They always disable the 10% store discount when there is a ebay 20% promo.

      • do they do good quality PC?? i am thinking of getting Dell or PC Byte..

        • I bought one from them recently (around 3 months ago). It was fine, but they don't exactly use optimal builds (i.e; using a 650W PSU on a build that could easily be handled with a 500W, or using a Z series mobo with a non-K CPU). Cable management is good. Mine came with a defective PSU which I sent back. They told me it was fine after testing it, but agreed to give me a refund (minus 20% restocking fee) because I'd already bought a replacement.

Parts are mostly brand-name, not no-name random ones from China or anything.

Because he's the hero OzBargain deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll ridicule his left-of-field comments. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent grammar guardian, a watchful protector against noob posters. A bold knight.

  • -2

    Any bargains though?

  • At this rate, it’ll be 100% off 0 stores

    • Isn't that what it is every time a sale is not on?

      • Badoom tish.

Hobby warehouse is shocking at price jacking.

One doll I was looking at was $149 this arvo now at $161. Currently at bigw for cheaper even minis 20%.

One LEGO technically set currently $170. $119 at bigw.

    • +2

I agree I’ve delt with them a few times and they are so bad at price jacking I asked them why and they said ebay fees then wouldn’t answer me

  • Allphones are a joke. Their iPhone prices are 10-20% higher than rrp magically.

I guess ACCC is to busy prosecuting MSY who never price jack …

      • Is there anything the ACCC can do about this?

        • They might be gathering evidence or they might be doing nothing. Who knows really …

  • I was hoping Temple and Webster's store would be part of this. Maybe next deal ;)
