Bought various HDMI cables and wall mounts from them, really happy with the products and service 👌

    • Second this. Wall mounts are great quality.

    • +13

They don't compare to my $1000 monster hdmi cables I got from Myer bruh

      • +1

They'd be fully sick at $850 though?

      • +5

Harvey Norman has better deals on HDMI. They might even throw in 10% off to celebrate GST changes. But only if you buy 3 years extended warranty.

        • +2

And a 10 license Trend anti virus.

    • Any recommendations on which HDMI 2.0 cables to get that is decent?

Been waiting to buy Krix ceiling speakers for they seldom go on sale.

Maybe its like here's the 15% off but only if you can manage to get to our online store haha

    • I've found it to be slow 80% of the time anyway
This just brings it over the edge… OZBARGAIN STRIKES AGAIN!

Didn’t you get your answer here? OP took the time to post the deal, which I’m sure will be useful to people. If you can’t be bothered having a look yourself, move on.

Any good value subwoofers? Can't access the site

    • +1

yea website is playing up, it loads intermittently

      • Polk subs rate well on Amazon I think. Krix are locally made and have a good reputation also. Best value subwoofers are second hand though. You can get them at 1/2 or even 1/4 of original cost price and can generally last decently well. I love my second hand SVS and Yamahas.

    website is cooked

      ozbargained!

Website not loading at all now :(

  • All Sonos "out of stock". Hmmmm

    • says "call to order", have you tried to call them?

      • +1

On the mobile site it shows "out of stock". I might have to give them a call, thanks!

Edit: Just called, Call to order means out of stock. Unfortunately the 15% off is only for in stock items.

        • that's really sstt, Hmmmmm

    • Eh, Sonos is like Bose for hipsters.

  • +2

    site.. DOWN for the count

  • Website is loading for me but when i do a search, it went down. Not much use for the 15% discount when I can't even check prices?

  • +1

Are there any deals tho? Looking at an AV receiver with a price of $1140 and most other places are $990 so the most I'd save is about $30.

  • JACK15? Or legit?

    • +1

      I'd say JACK15..

      • Not surprised. I had a bad experience with these guys last time I shopped there (about 2 years ago). Thought I was paying a premium for the AddictedToAudio level of service, but turns out I was just being ripped off.

    • +2

      Legit for Q Acoustics 3050
it has been for $1200 anywhere normally, until recent discount to $899 (new models coming?), applied 15% off at check out. Very good reviews for the 3050.

      • I have the 2050i's and they are a very good speaker under $1000 and the 3050's are meant to have improved a few key areas. Also love the sub and centre speakers for the price

      • JACK15'd for the Shure SE215, at $179 vs $199 at DJCity
        JACK15'd at $1185 vs $899 at minidisc.com.au

    Great company with awesome range!

When I was setting up my home theatre, I purchased a number of cables from Selby.

    Best in the market!

    • They usually price match with eBay offers too, just give them a call. Took me 2 minutes to get $100 off a projector last year.

Any 3 or 5 metres HDMI cables rep?

  • Useless if you can't connect…

  • +1

Good store. The sale could be better if they upgrade their server first!

  • Can anybody recommend a good HDMI for a soundbar? My soundbar stopped working via the HDMI and I've done a lot of troubleshooting and have come to the conclusion that it may be the HDMI.

    • You mean the cable? Grab one from Jaycar or Officeworks, pretty sure they’re only $4-5 or so.

Don’t let Harvey Normal sell you a $100 cable (or a new TV).

      • You don't think you need a good quality one for it to seamlessly connect? I think that's the reason mine stopped working. It no longer reads the HDMI connection

        • +1

          Nah it’s all just copper.

        • @LoopyLou:

Can agree here. As long as they are the latest rev., go nuts!

          Same goes for optical!

        • Too many (commission-based) salespeople will support that thought, but HDMI is a digital spec. It's not like (analogue) radio receiving static.
Cables have a HUGE price markup. Literally nobody needs $100 Monster cables.

There are of course quality differences between cables. A $10 cable may stop working with a broken wire if you flex it a few times. $20-$30 perfect.

        • @bmerigan: ok great. Thanks

  • Anyone able to recommend a good centre speaker stand? I cant seem to find any on their website, im sure they used to stock them.

  • Good deal, great store in general. Cant wait for their 50th birthday!

  • Any opinions on the Q acoustics concept 20 Bookshelf speakers?? ~$510 after discount. https://www.selby.com.au/brands/q-acoustics/q-acoustics-whit…

my sis has asked me to find her a pair of speakers for around $600. Would be for a 2.0 system in a reasonably large open plan lounge/kitchen so I'm worried these might be a bit on the small side. Also worried how they'll go if too close to a wall at the back

I'd suggest the 3050 but think she's after bookshelf. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/396968

  • Another vote for Selby's customer service. I wanted one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Bracket-Wall-Mount-Swivel-Motion/d…

I already have one (used it to mount my 65" Aldi/Bauhn TV), and wanted another one because it's so well built.

They sell them on Amazon and their Ebay store for $51 delivered, but they don't sell them on their website. I emailed and they asked me to call them - and they sold me that bracket with the 15% discount (approx $43 delivered)!

  • drat. I wished they stocked KEF stuff. I want their T series stands.

  • I'm due to deck out our lounge room as part of our reno, would I be mad in not looking deeper into a mid range package and saving some cash?

I don't know Selby's, just wondering before I go digging for stuff I don't know too much about.

4k projector, decent front wall speakers to mount either side of drop down screen, satellites, sub, receiver, 100-120inch screen (preferably flush). Room is about 3.5m wide x 5m long.

Not sure where to start, any help would be appreciated.

    Probably budget Max $5k.

    • Probably best not to rush into it so I’d forget this sale. They don’t seem to have a stocked system that meets your needs anyway.

You could piece together from bits they do have in stock but you’d probably get similar discount if buying in a package outside of this sale.

      • Yeh and they were my thoughts really.

Any ideas where to start. I feel like projectors/home theatre are a bit of a niche market. Jb,GG, Harvey, etc have all strayed from stocking that stuff and even reluctant to order anything in. They just don't want the business anymore.

Then the private hifi specific stores just feel like I have $$$ bills rapt around my neck when I walk in, screaming, take my money!! :s

Bit scared away from it to be honest and I'd call myself very tech savvy! That's the researcher in me not willing to bite the bullet.

        • Head to WPool and ask in the home theatre section. Avoid JB etc. don’t be intimidated by the specialist retailers.

        • @watts:

Cheers watts. I dabbled on whirlpool but lost interest. Trying to finish building the place first.

Screen being the only major hold up at the moment once I build my bulkhead.

I'll take another peak though. 👍

  • hey all.

I need some inwall speakers for rears.

smaller room. any suggestions? im hopless no soundafobe here

    https://www.selby.com.au/electronics/speakers/in-wall-speake…

  • Looking for a recommendation for my 43" 8kg TV. Looking to sit it on the wall above my desk which isn't in the middle of the wall, it's off to the right corner. But I'm looking for one that can swivel to the left 90 degrees so it can be viewed if I'm not at the desk.
Having a look it seems like a corner mount bracket is the option I have to look at, but I'm not sold on the one arm support holding the Tv when it's swiveled 90 degrees. Am I just being paranoid about that?

  • Got me sum subwoofer

  • Thanks OP. Needed a wall mount and now glad I did not make the trip to the store last weekend!
