Great timing. Wanted to pick a few up last night but they weren't on sale yet.

  • Take it you mean Woolies have a choice of 12 half price led bulbs from $3.50 ea.

LOL. Couldn't think of a better way to word it. I've now added 'each' to title. Hope this is better :)

Yes, but I would have preferred 12 LEDs for $3.50😁

damn…how does this dude always find out these bargains so quick than everybody else?good deal op

  • Hi guys, dummy here. Wanna ask the higher lumen, the brighter light it provides right? I wanna get one for study room, which one should I pick? Thanks a million :)

    • I use 400 lumen max lights around the house and in my bedroom I use a 2W globe. Plenty bright for me but my house may have smaller rooms, lower cielings and different light fittings to yours.

In my opinion the only application cool white globes have is to light up areas during daytime.

High wattage globes at night are a bad idea for maintaining your "body clock" unless you're lighting up a large area or need the bright light for a specific reason.

I'm the opposite of this other poster…I prefer brighter light in workspace areas. I do prefer warm white though, can't stand cool white - too harsh on the eyes.

In kitchen dining, I use globes over 1000 lumen - kitchen has 2, dining room has 3. Study I'd have a room light of over 1000 lument, and 800 lumen in the desk light.

800 lumen is around 60w equivalent which is what you'd normally use for a desk lamp in the old days. 1000 lumen is around 90w equivalent.

The poster below using 400 lumen - that's equivalent of around 30-40w incandescent globe - so gloomy. and 2w globe for bedroom? That must be like just using your phone torch! Crikey.

I think peering in semi-darkness could in fact be bad for your eyes also.

      • So… 800 lumen for bedroom?

    • I replaced all mine with: Small rooms, 806lm, big rooms, 1400lm.

    • Also make sure they are 2700K colour temperature. Any higher has too much blue light and is bad for your health.

  • Good price for Philips - I'm an electrical person who has been mucking around with LEDs for many years and reckon Philips make the best. Their Master range MR16s really are.

Saying that, I recently bought some Ikea-brand ES27s for $1.80 each and have found them to be pretty good. Will have to see how they go on the lifespan but at that price not a big issue.

What an illuminating find. It's rare these prices see the day light! I almost diode when I noticed.

  • Honestly for general purpose LED globes i have been pretty happy with the bulk pack of Luce Bella LED globes from Bunnings (cool white 806lm model: https://www.bunnings.com.au/luce-bella-10w-es-led-globe-6-pa…) - $15 for 6 which works out to be $2.50 each :)

i put a ~1400 lumen philips bulb in my kitchen and could scarcely notice the difference.

  • Bunnings still have the Scene Switch Step Dimmable Bulbs on price beat @$8.45 if you can’t decide on lumens.

  • Looks like a lot of the ones available at woolies aren't at bunnings.

    For some very odd reason the watts woolies has are (5, 8, 9 , 10.5, 13) while bunnings has (4.5, 6.5, 7, 8.5, 10.5, 13)

The ones that do intersect, 10.5W and 13W, those available at bunnings are twin packs ands aren't available for price beating

    • old line / new line.

The old ones are great - plastic durable, bright. The new ones are made of glass and break all the time where i work. Different, cheaper design on all the new philips LED range. I wouldn't buy them, they're rubbish on the inside.

      • Interesting. Are all the ones in stores now the "new line"?

    • Ah, so I can't buy from Woolies and get a refund to store credit at full price at Bunnings?

  • If Philips are the best I'd hate to see the rest… I bought a Philips 18 months ago and it died last week. Aren't they supposed to last several years?
