And even better if you were lucky enough to get the AmEx credit for $50 off $250 spend @ HN!

    • A potential for $200 off… nice

      • Lol. "$50 off $250" spend. Not "$50 for $250" spend haha. That'd be nice though.

        • +5

What? I'm guessing you don't know what deal carmabella was referring to.

Add a ~$2 item, use 4 AmEx's (plenty of people here have multiple) to pay $1000 and get $200 credited back to your account.

@theguyrules: Oh. Damn I'm an idiot. Why is theguyrules are you being negged then? (Coz that wasn't me…)

        • @HighAndDry: no idea haha

  • There must be a catch is Gerry is pushing out a good deal.

    • +3

He's secretly put hidden webcam's in the monitor !

      • So you're saying it comes with a free webcam?

Ok deal but I refuse to purchase anything from Harvey Norman / Domayne.

    • Bad experience?

    • -8

If it's because of GST I hope you note that it's the two political parties that are the problem rather than Gerry. It would be sad to be principled about the wrong entity!

Harvey Norman / Domayne don't honour their requirements under Australian law regarding returns.

Of the big box retailers they are apparently about the worst at this.

Loads of complaints at the ACCC

      • +1

I had the same concern. So purchased from Computer Alliance.

Had an issue with a monitor (dead and stuck pixels). I 'purchased' a new one (to get it first), all good, they then sent me a shipping label for the faulty one, returned it and got a refund for my new order.

I doubt Harvey Norman would have even wanted to let me return it for a stuck and dead pixel.

      • Wow, Harvey’s a (profanity)

      • I have a feeling it depends on which one you go to and what kind of stance you take. I took back a three year old surface that bricked itself after a Microsoft update. Went to ACCC website used their letter template and went to the HN where I bought it, long story short I had a new surface after about a month.

        • After a month ? Geez thats a fast turn around lol

That gsync tax cost too much.

    I have this monitor - it's great.

    • Ditto. UI and buttons are a little confusing even after a year with no auto switching for sources but the monitor display itself is fantastic.

Would the extra $200 for the X34P and 120hz be worth it?

    • +3

      Yes.

It has better image quality and is actually 100Hz unlike this 60Hz monitor that you can overclock to 100Hz.

I currently own this monitor (X34).

      • Can you expand on the better image quality part?

      • unlike this 60Hz monitor that you can overclock to 100Hz

Can you explain that for me?
        I thought this was a 100hz panel.

        • +1

          I also own this X34.

The "overclock" means that 100Hz isn't guaranteed. I've heard of others saying that they can only get 95Hz or there abouts. I think for those people they have been able to receive a refund as it wasn't "as advertised".

But that was probably in the earlier days. I haven't heard of that issue since and mine does 100Hz without issue.

        • @Jiv: Thanks. Kind of like buying 3200mhz DDR4 and only getting 2133mhz I guess.

Almost neg'd you because I thought you were JV

    • Where is the X34P for $1198?

      • +3

It's 1279 from futu on ebay with PHOME20, not sure where else…

        • Thanks for this, I may actually pick this one up… was hoping for the 200hz screens to come a little earlier..

      • I got HN to pricematch Umart ($1299) on the weekend and did the Amex thing on four cards.

Officeworks price match for 5% off, i see they have a listing just no stock in my state.

Eww curve, i would just save up for the LG 5K nano-ips Flat ultrawide monitor

    • -1

Totally understand your point, I have a Acer 4K monitor and going from the 4k to this is like going from 4k to stretched out 1080p, not verryyyy good.

    • -1

It's a very subtle curve, you don't notice it if you're looking at it normally.

    • +1

LG 34WK95U? Yes. I am waiting for it.

  • +1

If there only was a monitor with these specs but a non "gaming" design…

    • Same reason I went for the Samasung CF791. No Gsync, but does 100Hz. Curve is a bit more aggressive as well. I did have 1 faulty one (2 dead pixels plus 1 stuck green pixel), but Computer Alliance replaced it and the replacement is flawless. Also $999 now, although I picked mine up at $900 during an eBay sale.

Would recommend. It's not IPS (if you care about such things), but the saturation is far better (due to Samsung using 'Quantum Dot' in this monitor) and no IPS glow.

      • Yea Samsung got nice design, if it had Gsync I'd buy it straight away!

    • Some Asus monitors have a square flat base that uses led red instead of real red, you can turn it off and it turns into a normal stand ..

  • This is a good monitor but keep in mind with these larger curved monitors you can't avoid some backlight bleed.

  • if this had 44 more hz and was on sale through eBay i'd be tempted

  • Anyone know how this compares to the curved Kogan?

Be mindful with the X34, I purchased one by Harvey Norman where not one of 5 different screens we tried could successfully overclock to 100hz without terrible screen flickering. I returned the product a few times assuming the next wouldn’t have the same issue. This was back in June, but even the next batches that arrived were no different. Staff were helpful and accepted the returns each time but seemed a bit suss that each screen was dodgy and they were trying to run them out at eofy. I didn’t take the risk of taking another x34 even if it was working and just upgraded to the x34p for a couple hundred more after doing some research. No issues, base of 100hz refresh and better design and curve.

    • Agree with this! I also had an X34 with issues, tried a couple kept one that had least amount of issues and could overclock to 95hz but ended up selling it and grabbed the 27 inch one. I got the x34P on the weekend as I missed having a bigger screen and happy to report no issues, havent tried overclocking it but happy enough with base 100hz and while there is backlight bleed it's nowhere near as bad as the x34 ones I tried. After having both I'd definetly go for the x34p. Also remember you need some grunt for games.

    • +1

To be fair overclocking performance isn't something that is guaranteed, it is outside of on the box specification and isn't really guaranteed to do it.

      • Yeah I gather that, however each screen we tried, at least 5, wouldn’t go above 60hz. All models were really bad, unsure if there is a warm up phase or if the problem was temporary.

    • Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but mine has been cranking along at 100hz without any dramas since I bought it in Feb this year.
