  • Any good for Switch?

    • -4

Good but sandisk ultra is faster for Switch.

      • Thought so. Cheers.

        • +10

          some test results for reference
          https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/storage/best-micro…

Sandisk Ultra has marginally better reads but nowhere near as good on writes.

          • @coldazure: On Switch or just normal test? How often do you write on Switch by the way?

            • +2

@wtfnodeal: normal test of course. not even sure you can accurately test with the switch unless you have some kind of dev unit or something.

probably not a lot of writing. maybe just game downloads, updates, saves. the point though is whether you'd trade an extra tiny bit (arguably negligible) of faster read for losing 3/4 write speed, even if the switch's use cases require only read most of the time. i.e. do you see yourself potentially re-using this thing for something else that might want faster write speeds later on.

              • +1

@coldazure: The switch doesn't take more advantage at all. It's a waste of money using these evo plus cards on them.

Go get Sandisk A1, previous comments suggested that's the best bang for buck for the switch

    • Oh yes you remind me to buy one for NS , thanks.

  • +1

Cheapest price ever for the 256gb! I got one, thanks

Who is Tech Mall? Is this a brand of some existing store which we know of? Feedback is very good but would like to know if they are actually pc byte or something like that for confidence that the cards are genuine.

    • +2

I bought from them before, I think they are another online shop front from another reputable seller

Previous thread suggested they are pcbyte

Seems like "Tech Mall, PC Byte , PC Meal all are the same people Registered as
      Tech Century Pty Ltd
      ABN: 55 618 000 847
      Unit 1
      21-25 Silverwater Road

      • Thanks, that's useful. Not sure why they don't just use the same name.

      • +6

  • The price is really good for 256G card

  • thanks chibot

  • I want to buy but I can't think of what I need it for currently…

    • +2

      Buy first, think/regret later.

      • The OzBargain motto.

  • are these genuine?

    • +1

      most likely not,
there are so many fakes on ebay

when it comes to memory cards, I wound't buy from eBay

      • A few months ago I bought this card in 128gb from PC Byte and it is genuine.
Have bought from this seller over the years and would trust them.
I think they used to be PCMeal.

  • Damn that 256gb is cheap.

I need a few 32gb-64gb cards but it's hard to justify $20+ for 64gb when back in July I bought a couple of 128gb for $28.75. These 64gbs are heading the in the right direction though.

  • being stocking so many microsd cards recently…need to stop..

  • Thanks used the discounted ebay voucher from before in September. Good use now in combination with this

Never used evo plus just regular evo. Hope for better results on drone and smartphone recording 4k.

  • Are SD cards one speed fits all these days? Will these be suitable for a GoPro hero5 black shooting in 4K?

    • No and yes.

  • What are people doing with their 4 and 8GB old cards?

    • Put them in the pile with your 4 and 8GB flash drives.

  • Well I'm struggling to get the code to work on Futu or Tech Mall.

This code can't be applied to your order.

    • Make sure its an australian ebay account i had same problem with my other acc

      • I only have the one account and its registered to an AU address.
        Codes have worked previously.
Tried a couple of other stores with the same result.
        I'll try again tomorrow.

        Thanks

        • You must have registered not in AU. Even if you change to AU address it will still recognise the country you registered eBay. You got to contact eBay to change it to AU account for the code(s) to work.

          • @dingdong3000: You are correct, the accounts from 2001 when there was no ebay AU.
Probably explains why they refund to an paypal.com account when I pay with a paypal.com.au account.

In any case I've used codes before with no issue.

            Thanks

    • +1

I am currently having the same problem, posted in the previous post as well but no luck.
So all I did was just checked out as guest by entering even the same information what I already have fed in "Not applying code account".
Go buy and thanks me later! :)

      • I'll give it a shot.

        Thanks

  • No longer $0.40 cheaper than the Futu price.

    • It's the other way around this time futu 40 cents cheaper lol

  • +2

how can you tell that these are genuine ones ?

    • Also would like to know.
My last Ultra 32gb is now becoming defective after a few years. Photos are now corrupt.

  • Tech Mall are now matching Futu's prices.

    • will FUTU now drop its price to compete?

  • geees. I thought I may need some 32gb sd but 3 arrived today that I don't recall ordering. winning.

  • so what's the consensus here? is this fake or genuine?

  • +1

Might help some people to know, the 32GB card has a 20MB write speed, the 64GB has 40MB write speed, I would say the 64GB is the best bang for your buck and what I ordered

  • Got mine today (mel), testing it now

    • Seems to be good. Hard for me to test the full speed without a usb3 card reader, but it seems to run pretty quick, and no signs of it being less than genuine
