Australian Based 1GB RAM/50GB HDD KVM VPS £20/Yr (Approx $36.68 AU via PayPal) Recurring at Hostdoc

51

1 vCore
1GB RAM
1GB Swap
50GB HDD
500GB Bandwidth @ 250MBps

I came across this VPS offer while having a look around LowEndTalk. A good price for a reasonable Australian-based entry level server. I haven't used HostDoc before but their reviews on LEB/LET are pretty good. Worth a try for less than $40 a year.

    Australian Based 1GB RAM

    Was it made here?

They use OVH and allow custom ISO uploads too

  • Australian Based

    Charges you in £

    • Server is based in Australia.

      • So subject to government demands then?

        • I'd be interested to know where you'll find a machine that isn't subject to "government" demands.

          • @crc32: One that's in a country that doesn't bend over for foreign governments.

              @EightImmortals: Good luck with that.

@crc32: Bulletproof hosting is definitely a thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletproof_hosting

                • @tonyduffe: That shut down when pressured by governments.

                  • @crc32: While they tend to shut down they do fight things a lot and shutting down is normally a last resort to protect the data from falling into the governments hands. The one I've used in the past has been running for 10+ years and has won the two cases brought against them by their local government. It's also about picking the right provider for what you're hosting/trying to protect from going down.

                    • @tonyduffe: Exactly, choose the right host for the right application. I bet you're paying more than $40 a year for your host.

                      • @crc32: No personally I don't, The clients that we have that use the Bulletproof provider I'm talking about however do. But this provider can't help them anyway.

Also I wouldn't recommend relying on any random provider that makes an offer post on "LowEndTalk" for production day today websites or applications as most disappear within the six months to a year. Normally with your prepaid amount.

                        • @tonyduffe:

most disappear within the six months to a year

Source…? Last time I seen anyone disappear was when ChicagoVPS was taken over by their host Colocrossing, but they honoured all existing deals, rates and servers and continued operation… You could count onacloud, but customers there were simply moved over to VentraIP…

What is reason for neg btw? Is their something with this provider I've missed or is your neg simply because it doesn't meet you (/your clients) need(s) and/or because other providers have apparently disappeared?

What you're looking for I believe is more commonly called offshore hosting btw. Never heard of the term bulletproof before.

  • Similar plan from OVH directly for $3 AUD p/m (currently out of stock):
    https://www.ovh.com.au/vps/#ssd-discover

    1 vCore(s) - 3.5 GHz
    1 GB RAM
30 GB SSD (20 GB less than OP)
1 TB Traffic @ 100 Mbps (double the traffic, but slower speed than OP)

    • It's been confirmed these won't be coming back in stock

  • The nameserver prefix is invalid…?

      I just put in ns1/ns2.

      • Worked, cheers. I was typing the full thing lol
