Wow - would never have thought of buying a lawnmover from the UK ! I have an electric corded $99 from Bunnings and this has me interested.

I remember Amazon US doesn't ship electronics to us - must look at their other UK electronics.

    • That was my thought too- buying a lawnmower from UK - WOW!
Checked it out and am also very keen.
How do you find the performance compared to a regular petrol model?

    • It's strange. You can order a lawnmower from Amazon but if you try to order a Microwave oven (and it is a model that is available here), they can't ship it. Both items require connection to the mains power at some point.

    • -1

      electric lawnmowers freak me out.

all that long grass, and the spinning blades and coiled electrical cords in said long grass.

      • +1

        This mower is cordless

  • Looks like a good deal. I guess the only issue would be claiming on warranty, not sure how you would do this.

  • +3

    Put price in title.

    • +5

      Please.

      • +4

        done as requested sirs…

  • I need a lawn edger, have needed one for the last 10 years, do they have one?

    • Buy local. Have recently purchased ATOM Lawn edger (4-stroke) and have never looked back!

  • +2

"the running time of the battery but in ideal conditions where the grass is short, fine and dry, running times could be up to 30 minutes" - not sure how many charging cycles it would take to do a decent size front & backyard plus nature strip ;-/

    • Just buy several batteries.

  • I can't work out how you got it so cheap…

Listed price comes up as £234.49.
Once VAT is removed and shipping added, price comes to £217.99.
Converted to AUD, this is around abouts ~$350?

    • $353 for me…..

perhaps this was on special on sunday when the OP made the purchase?

      • the listed price was 225 pounds when i ordered on Sunday, didn't post here cos i wasn't sure whether they would ship to Australia or not.

    • +1

On xe.com (up to date FX) 217.99 GBP ~ 340 AUD.

    • Can get 5% back if you have affiliate link with Amazon.

      • If you try and order via your own affiliate link, they just cancel the commission.

        • not when you have multiple amazon accounts with different addresses and names…

        • @Pobman
          lol, true OzBargain style :)

  • Great, i was looking at Uk shops for this the other week but could not find one that would ship here, such a ripoff in Australia!

  • +4

What use is a battery mower? With that short run-time, your battery will need lots of recharging and replacement soon.
If its a tiny yard, get corded. If a bigger yard, a petrol mower will be cheaper, easier and last longer. You even get a 4-stroke mower for way under that price.

What is the advantage of battery? Midnight mowing?

    • +4

The advantage is geekiness. However the geeks are all holding out for the iMower, hence why this one is so cheap.

      • I'm holding out for iMower2 as well, I'm told the new model has blades! :p

I have had an Enviromower for about 5 years now, similar to this and since bought out by Victa and rebranded. Main difference from mine to Bosch is the battery, mine takes about 12 hours to charge.

Advantages to petrol - very lightweight, no servicing, push button start (great for ladies or oldies), very quiet
Disadvantages - smaller cutting diameter, if grass has been unmaintained for some time it really chews the battery, looks like a Fisher Price toy

Does my large surburban backyard and front yard fine on one battery if I keep it maintained. If I've left it too long then job needs to be split up.

Running costs are good as no petrol/servicing/parts to replace. Though some time down the track there will be battery replacement so this may even up.

After I bought mine 3 relos and 2 neighbours bought one as well, all love them. They are not ideal in all circumstances though.

      Hope this helps :-)

      • +1

        It does help mate, thanks.

      • Well put edman, I too took the plunge and bought an Enviromower 3 months ago for $450.00 and can say that the advantages outweigh the negatives.

        • Its very easy to push around and the noise level is 80% less than a petrol mower.
_ No doubt the battery will need replacing within 3 years (approx $100)

Id grab this Bosch ASAP if I was in the market for a new Mower!

        • +1

Over summer I mow my lawn every week, after that about once a month. I have 2 batteries and both are still going strong after 5 years.

I wish I'd bought mine for $450 though, they were $699 when I bought mine!

  • The Rotek LI 43 is much better its more expensive but includes 2 batteries and wider cutting width http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Rotak-Cordless-Rotary-Mower/dp…

Unfortunately not sold in AU and of course more expensive :S I think Bosch have even discontinued lawnmowers altogether in AU.

Btw a genuine replacement 36V battery for these are around $300. 36V should give you 30-40mins runtime. I'm basing that on a cordless Ryobi line trimmer I have which uses 18V NiCd batteries and I get 20mins from 1 battery. Bosch uses 36V Li so performance should be better.

    • -1

Nonsense. Voltage is only one factor. Total watt-hours (or kj) is more relevant. And the chemistry.

The problem with L-Ion, aside from cost, is that they only last a few years at best, even if not used.
NiMH is better for occasional use. Or petrol.

    • Tried to purchase this model but they don't ship either the 37LI or the 43LI to Aus. Just the 34LI….unless some smart person knows a way.

Purchased the 34LI…prepared to give it whirl for $353.48 incl Delivery. Don't have massive yards so I think this will be suffice.

      Thanx again quishen83!

      • Yeah only Amazon will ship to Oz, those other ones are not sold by Amazon directly.
Looks like Amazon will be having a bulk shipment of lawnmowers to Australia this week :)

    • +2

I just took the plunge and ordered the 43 Li Ergoflex model with the 2 batteries, along with 2 spare blades. Delivery won't be until mid-may, but that's OK. Here's the link http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004GTMNZQ/ref=ox_sc_act_… . It's 70 pounds off at the moment.

Postage was also very cheap at 25 pounds.

      • +1

Yeah I bet Australia post will want more if you ever need to ship it back to the UK… complete joke postage costs here :(

        • +1

Yep. Ripoff Oz strikes back. Not just Gerry Harvey and his mob that want us all to be poor, while they count their millions…

        • The funny thing is most people in the UK think they pay too much for stuff and are being ripped off :)

      • Decided to order one too … haven't seen many negative reviews for these, from those that do have these mowers. Getting tired of petrol mowers … I just grazed myself trying to start one …

      • Hi Warren,
Just wondering if you managed to get this product from UK. What kind of warranty did you get with it?

        • +1

          Hi swappy.

The mower arrived within a week of purchase. Easy to setup and even easier to use. I'm glad I bought the larger 43 Li version with the second battery. I had to swap batteries with only 50 sqm of lawn to go.

I put the mower through its paces a few weeks ago when the lawn was long and wet. It performed better than I expected.

The lack of petrol fumes made me want to mow everyone else's lawn on the street! But I resisted :)

The old 2-stroke mower will end up on ebay or the tip.

My brother has already purchased the same 43Li ergo Rotak for himself after seeing mine.

  • Does this require a UK to AUS power plug adapter?

  • -6

Buy a Bosch lawn mower if you only have a small area to mow. Backyards in Germany are small so this German design lawn mower would suit a small backyard.

  • Need a lawnmower but a more tougher one

  • I wonder how the Bosch Rotak 34 LI compares to the Enviromower?

  • bought the rotak 40 electric cord one yesterday, it is in the airport now, so really amazing delivery.

  • 2.9 stars out of 5 for the Rotak 40.

  • Interesting read about internet purchases.

    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/retailers-f…

    • Yes.. but in the case of this mower there is no specialist. Even if you add GST on its still way cheaper than here in Australia. The simple truth is that stuff here is still priced as if you needed $2.7 to get 1 pound… look at so many things, a business class seat from Australia to the UK and back is double the cost of the same seat starting in the UK.. same planes. same service. same everything except the starting points.

  • +2

This is a great lawn-mower. I had one back in the UK before we came out to aus. The li-ion battery has a decent charge and lasts for 45-50mins or so depending on how thick the grass you are cutting… It's pretty robust for fairly small mower as well.

You will need an adaptor for the plug on the charger but it'll work fine…

    • wow, i ordered my mower on sunday night, and it arrived today..quick !

  • +1

    Came down to GBP215 today.

    • Managed to get a partial refund of the difference, but only in the firm of a gift card because it had been dispatched.

  • .

  • Got one! Ex-VAT price was GBP179. Thanks to the OP! I would have NEVER thought of shopping for a mower from the UK…

Also picked up a Aquatak Clic 130 pressure washer since I was already paying for shipping. Not bad at GBP166 ex-VAT, considering the only price I could find in AU was $500 for the lesser Clic 125 model.

    Total shipping was about GBP24.

  • +1

OK ordered my one on Friday 8th, and I was cutting the grass the afternoon of the 12th… Amazing.

The charger has a cable and plug on it so you can either use an adapter OR take off the UK plug and stick on a new Oz one … (would probably kill the warranty … but hey not likely you will be posting it back to the UK anyway!!)

Wish I had thought about the pressure washer! Bought a rip-off Bunnings one a few weeks back. DOH!

  • Does anyone think that this mower (34L} can do 2 x 50m2 sections of lawn in one charge?

  • This doesn't work for me.

"This item cannot be shipped to the address you selected. (Learn more.) You may either change the shipping address or remove the item by clicking Delete."

For the people that bought this item, does anyone live in Melbourne?

    • Yes, I'm in 3111, and I got two items. Ordered on Monday night, UPS says they'll be arriving today.

      • was the Seller: GM Suppliers?
I am trying to send it to 3144.

        • No, I bought it direct from Amazon, and I think only Amazon ships to Australia. The other sellers don't AFAIK.

  • I used the same link www.amazon.co.uk, the seller for that item on Amazon is GM Suppliers.
Thats why i don't understand why it doesn't work for me, and so many other people bought it.

    :(

  • Strange, I went thru my order and clicked on the mower and it too showed up as coming from GM suppliers, so don't know what's going on there.

You can get the amazon.co.uk one by searching for "Rotak 34 LI" and limiting the seller to amazon.co.uk. You may also need to select the Garden Tools and Equipment department

    Try this one

    Price is now GBP234.49

  • Thank you so much!!!

It works now, and when I check out the price change to only £195.41, even better!!!

I end up buying the Bosch trimmer as well.

Thank you very much again he3at!!!!

  • Mine arrived today, its a bit louder than my vacuum cleaner, but still not as noisy as my petrol mower … will be giving it a proper whirl tomorrow.
