Pentax K-X W/ 18-200mm Sigma Lens + 8GB Sandisk + Vanguard Camera Backpack. $675. Starts 14-4-11

80

Deal runs from 14-4-11 to 27-4-11
Probably not as good as the Officeworks deal, but this one comes with a lens that has a wider range, 8GB SD card and backpack for your huge camera. A lookup on shopbot.com for local stock lists camerawarehouse at $659, but possibly no stock (states "please call") and doesn't include the bag or 8GB sd card.

but its most are over 50

  • The Kx is a very good entry level dSLR. It was just discontinued, and is still being keenly sought after by Pentax fans, to the point that only ugly colours are left for sale in the US. Yes, the Kx came in all sorts of colours, bt here in Oz we seem to get black mostly. The next most popular colour seems to be white, called stormtrooper white, for Star Wars fans. AF speed is much improved, and high iso performance is great, to the point you dont need tripods or flashes anymore for indoor shots.

  • it uses 4 x alkaline batteries… is it any good..

    • K-x is great for the price…. better than the Canon 1000D/1100D

K-r is the replacement and can be had with 18-55 lense for under $700 at JB Hifi (closer to $600 if you bargain)

    • Update the firmware to 1.02 and get eneloop rechargeable batteries with a good charger and you should experience economical running.

  • Is this a recommended camera set up for someone who wants to get into photography for the first time? Noob friendly? I need something of a decent quality I can use to take product photography shots along with other every day photography while travelling.
