    "Max Discount $50"

    Yawnnnnnn~~~~

    • +5

3 Transactions is still good though.

      • -1

Just don't but anything from The Good Guys if the price send too good! eBay learn their lesson so this ring let you use the code 3 time.

    • +16

      Min spend $150 sigh…

  • +23

    Excludes car parts… yawn…

    • +23

WTF has eBay got against car parts anyway?
Always thought that was the strangest exclusion…

    • +2

      Agreed, always :(

    • +3

      Excludes real estate… yawn… :(

    • -6

Even thou it says it excludes car parts, these codes ALWAYS work on car parts for me. Coilovers, brakes. Give it a go you will be surprised….

      • +3

Don't know which seller you buy your parts from but I have a lot of parts I'd like to buy that the code doesn't/won't work with.

        • Well it works for me… No idea why…

          • +2

@Sirocco: Maybe because what you're buying isn't part of the category:

            Vehicle Parts & Accessories
            >
            Car & Truck Parts

            ????

  • +2

Plenty I want, nothing I need (that's available or cheaper on ebay…)

  • +4

Wow, better jump in on the minimum spend before ebay increase it to $175 lol

    • +13

      Nope I'll save $150 :)

  • +6

Someone suggested they'd look to add a minimum spend for these, and 'lo and behold a week later they started trying this $150-$500 trash.

Hi eBay AU, if you're reading this: stop.

  • +6

Hmmm, 10% off? Hey Ebay, thanks for temporarily paying our GST for us…

    • What do you mean? The new GST legislation applies to purchases made to overseas store. Not local like eBay AU.

      • +2

If you buy something on eBay AU from a seller located outside of Australia, eBay now applies the 10% GST automatically at the checkout.

Been like that since July last year.

        • +1

Yes that's what I said… overseas purchases incur 10% GST. UNLESS the seller lies by putting their location as Australia when it's not

          • @Clear: @Clear: Sellers setting their location as Aus is exactly the reason why I've stopped buying from eBay apart from bigger sellers. I always seem to need an item within a week and then it takes two to get here as it's drop shipped…

      • Haven't we always had to pay 10% GST on local Ebay purchases though? With a 10% discount on Ebay.au, we're basically getting our GST costs paid for?

        • +2

If you're purchasing from a business that would supply an invoice, yes. But eBay is a marketplace with ordinary sellers and auctions where there is no GST.

          • -1

@Clear: Huh, so there are areas on Ebay that are GST free? This is news to me.
I assumed all new "Buy it now" items from Australian ebay stores would automatically have GST applied.

            • +3

@pud311: Can't really charge GST if you don't have an ABN. Not all buy it nows are stores as such 😉

            • +3

@pud311: I'd look at is this way… all "areas on eBay" are GST FREE unless they specifically state they collecting GST.

        • +5

In order for someone to charge GST they need to first be in “business” which is defined by criteria set by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Then once you are considered to be in business then you can opt out of registering for GST provided your gross sales are less than $75,000.

Many sellers are Mums and Dads who buy from retail bricks and mortar and resell on eBay. They’re not really a business as such and more like a hobby. Unless they’re repetitively and consistenly selling the same or similar then they are likely not to be in business and don’t charge GST. Many Mums and Dads will also open eBay stores to increase their chances of selling an item. If you have hundreds of items to sell/clear out of your home you’re more likely to sell it if you have an eBay store. You just need to pay eBay store fees.

Imagine the headache the Government/ATO would have if every man and his dog were selling things from their backyard or garage ON Ebay and had to charge GST! The Government is crazy but not that crazy.

          • -4

@ibuy: You have way too much time on your hands buddy.

  • +1

I was interested until I read the minimum spend … next.

  • +32

This is more easily read as "10% off $150-$500"

    • Sooooo much clearer, cheers

But god forbid they make it this clear… doesn't sound anywhere near as impressive- especially when exclusions are listed after it as well.

  • +1

Looking to buy something but the max discount sucks.

  • +3

Queen zzz atelier mattress is $248 delivered with this coupon

    • They had 20% off recently, got the King and am not disappointed.

  • eBay clearly feel that Amazon is no threat whatsoever for them in Australia (at least for now) so they don't even bother trying to compete as far as promos or their paid membership program.

Saying that, their assessment of the state of play in Oz is pretty spot on imho. Amazon AU is a dud.

    • +27

      Amazon AU is a dud

Prime decimates eBay Plus in every single way.

      • +1

Prime decimates eBay Plus in every single way.

        Agree 100%

What I was trying to allude to was that generally, Amazon AU pricing is still pretty rubbish compared to eBay AU.
This is even after they opened a big chunk of their US SKUs to be purchased by Aussies.

      • +2

Amazon's product range is shit though.

      • But the PREMIUM customer service!

        /s

    • +3

i love prime and getting cheap things delivered for free.

      • Just curious:

Since buying a Prime membership, did Amazon become your first point of call when looking to buy something online?

Not trying to have a go at you or anything, just curious if the behaviour of Prime members in AU is starting to be similar to Prime members in the US.

        • +3

No way. I search with GOogle first then ebay. Amazon is usually 3rd

          • @conservative: I refer to my comment above ;)

            • @ginmi: Fair enough. I can agree with your first comment. I go by price at the end of the day.

        • +1

I'm a prime member but I often forget to search there. Ebay is first.

There's much less on AMZ or the pricing isn't that great.

          • @lostn: @ginmi i'm a prime member and i always price compare. I usually go with Google (as that covers ebay) and then Amazon.

    • Amazon AU is a dud.
Speak for yourself, I've grabbed 10+ bargains from them since launch and now it's my first stop to look for games / toys.

Free + fast shipping is great.

  • -1

how come the link says "This page may have moved or is no longer available"

    Is this deal still on?

  • ohh fark, i just payed for a 400 item around 4:30 today! this would have been good. good deal anyway.

    • Try and cancel the order.

Buy now and use free returns if you have it.

  • +4

What's with this "Max discount $50" that eBay is doing lately? Is this their way of preventing us, folks who recently bought over a grand in eBay gift cards with 15% discount, from double-dipping? Well, I know how to be patient. I can hold on for over a year if it comes to that. Bring on, eBay! Sooner or later the stars will align and only then will I pull the trigger. :)

    • +1

I can hold on for over a year if it comes to that.

      I want whatever you're on.

      • +1

Lol! I'm trying to resist the OzBargain virus that got me spend thousands on stuff I didn't need since I joined this place. No more senseless spending.

        • +1

          No more senseless spending

Blamphemous comments like this will get your OzBargain card revoked.

          • @xoom: Ready to risk it all as my will power to resist the urge is weak and need to be saved from myself. :D

  • je'taime!

    now for cheap gift cards

    • +1

      *je t'aime

    • Aren’t they excluded?

  • Anyone know when this ends ? Says available for a limited time only, for as long as it is advertised by eBay on www.ebay.com.au (“Offer Period”). eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.

Can't see any end time on website

    • +1

      No set end time.

They will run it until the promo budget for this is exhausted.

Because this is site-wide, eBay pays the discount out of their own pocket instead of sellers funding it.

      • Ah k thanks how long do these normally go for 12hrs, 2 days?

        • +1

Who knows. It depends on the volume of sales.

Once the money for discounts is used up, the promo will end.

No one but eBay knows how much has been allocated to this and how much is left at any point in time.

    • +2

Ends when ebay comes up with another 10% off code with equally ludicrous or worse minimum spend and kick in the teeth max discount.

    • +3

On my 'My eBay' page it says the 12th of February (it only appeared there after I made one transaction using the code).

      • +1

Good catch, it also shows the same date if you hover over 'show me how' on an eligible item.

Be careful though because they may end it ahead of time.

    • it says as below

Enter code at checkout to redeem. Hurry, your coupon expires 12/02/19. Terms and conditions apply.

  • Ggf ebay

    • +1

Teel us what you really think of ebay. Try not to sugar coat it or beat around the bush next time.

  • Need an nvme ssd, will wait for 20 percent off

    • +4

price jacking for these sitewide deals.

      Are you kidding?

    • +3

Although your argument has merit, there is still a lot of value for second-hand auctions.

    • +4

I seem to be able to use nearly every discount deal and save money. Many others do.

    • +3

Ridiculous use of a neg. There's no possible way Ebay can monitor or control the literally millions of accounts selling during a site wide sale.

      • -1

Not like the 20% off selected retailers which are all guilty of it everytime… Discount caps and price jacking is still valid

  • +1

Ozbargain isn't as fun when bargains come up and I have nothing to buy :(

  • Is this really necessary?

  • Is there something stopping me buying 3 x $500 mystery boxes from my other account pocketing $150?

    • Breaking the terms and conditions of having one account.

      • +1

        Ok my wife's account.

        Multiple accounts policy
Can I use one account for buying and one account for selling?
Yes, you can use the accounts in whatever way works best for you.

        • So why do you have multiple accounts?

          • @Julius: Must be multiple wives then.

            • @whucenoath: Hopefully they don't share the same bed. Can't imagine the pressure of satisfying that many at one time.

    • +1

The 10.9% final value fee and 2.6%+30¢ PayPal fee might be problematic.

    • Final fee values would nullify the benefits of your scheme unless you get a promo that allows you to list for free with no fees.

  • Also unless the URL is wrong in this deal, it looks like eBay is 'updating' the T&C's
"This page may have moved or is no longer available."

  • 10% off everything. If ya purchasing something up $500.

4.17% off a $1199 guitar due to $50 max discount. Lame as.

Sort of false advertising using 10% off everything.

URL is still working for me.

  • Is anyone else encountering no matter what code they use (PASSIONATE or PLACE10) on eligible items that you get the error "This code can't be applied to your order."??

    Thanks

    • +2

Sorry just realised the minimum spend. What a joke.

      • +1

You don't get that error if you don't meet the minumum spend, you get:

We can't apply this code until you reach the minimum order total.

Your account probably isn't registered to Australia if it can't apply any coupons.
