Found this link on Facebook - couldn't find this page when I directly go to Coles MC Website. I can only see this promo page when I click through the FB ad link. You guys can possibly find a better way to get to this page.

  • No annual fee is only for first year?

  • I don't see the $100 off when click through your link?

I think OP's title is a bit misleading.

So you still pay for the normal annual fee depends on which card you apply (or no fee for the $0 one), and the card needs to be approved before 31st of March and make a purchase within first 30 days, then you will get a $100 off on a single Coles transaction. That's my understanding of it

This is what I have copied from the website

  • Cole still have price protection right? How long is it?

    • +2

Thought it ended when Citi took over,

Only honouring pp from cards owners who bought them before the takeover?

    • +2

Only card members who had the price protection scheme before Citigroup bought the card can have it. All current and new card holders cannot enable price protection.

It is 2 years for those that still have it, so by far the best in the market.

    • Last year I had the bare-bones no annual fee ever credit card with them when it was taken over by Citi. Last Nov I got a notification that my card was being upgraded to platinum which includes insurances while the fee structure remains same, i.e. no annual fee ever. Now my card says platinum but no annual fee and it has insurance.

  • The similar deal posted 2 weeks ago works for anyone and you can choose to have 20k points instead of $100 off in one shop.

Something to try which I managed to get away with.

Apply for the free card, once it is approved, ask to be upgraded to the rewards card free for the first year to trial.

When the year is up, downgrade to the fee free card again. Then when the deal is available again, ask to be upgraded again and waive the first year.

But this was a while ago and they may be more tight these days.

    • I think they've tightened the rules. You can upgrade but can't downgrade without cancelling the whole card and going through the reapplication process all over again.

    • anyone tried this trick recently since citibank have taken over?

I’m finding it hard to believe it’s no annual fee for ever

It says new customers only. As in never had the card or don't currently have the card? What if you had the card and closed it say over a year ago?

  • Good rewards card except if you go overseas with it. Buy anything and they block the card. Even if you tell them. And no Apple Pay even though Citi bank has

    • I was able to use it while I was at Japan. I did call them to advise the overseas trip. Apple and Android pay are still missing and this is very low on Citibank.

  • No minimum spend to earn the $100 off?

    • ….spend a minimum of $100.05 after savings and discounts in one transaction at Coles Supermarkets (excluding gift cards, iTunes cards, tobacco and tobacco related purchases)….

  • So sign up, get $100, ditch card (dont use or close account) = easy $100 profit? Or is that not how it works?

Never had a credit card (nor do I want one)

    • Originally thought the same but then decided to keep the card as it didn't cost anything but instead gives me a $10 discount at coles every now and then and also, in my case, it has some really useful insurances like purchase protection, etc. for free. Not sure if new ones offer same insurance covers.

      • Yeah would like to know if anz, commbank, westpac and others offer this purchase protection

  • The rewards card should be considered if going overseas on a long holiday as you can put all your overseas spend on it without currency conversion fees and earn some points. Then wait for the bonus transfer to velocity and you'll get 1 velocity point per $.
We are going OS for 3 months so will probably get one before we leave. Would prefer to get some points rather than just use 28deg.

  • I applied for the no fee card in late Feb, made my first spend about 3 weeks ago but still couldn't see the $100 loaded on my flybuys account online or be able to redeem it. Called the card Help Centre but they just told me to wait, or call Flybuys. Has anyone else experienced this?

    • If you choose $100, I think there is no way to view its availability. You should have spent $100.05+ in Coles to see if it would take $100 off. However, 3 weeks already elapsed and chances are "$100 off offer expired". A lesson you learned is to choose 20k pts is much better option, more flexible and longer expiry.

      • The help centre staff said that I have to wait 3 weeks from my first spend (which was $103 two weeks after card activation but the cashier couldn't apply the $100 discount at the register, which promoted me to call the help centre). It seems like neither the help centre staff nor the cashier knew how to make it work, although I paid the $103 with the card and scanned the flybuys bar code.
I'm hoping someone else could tell me how they made it work.
