[HACK] $2.80 Small Cheese & Bacon Burger Meal via App @ McDonald's

8117

I haven't been a fan of some of the other hacks that have been out there that requires too much of a hassle and causes you to lose some of your dignity, but this one is quiet simple and can all be done with the app.

This still leaves you with some decent ingredients on the burger (bacon, cheese, onions, ketchup and mustard) and also comes with a small fries and drink for the cost of $2.80

Mod: To hide 'Hacks' from your front page, go to settings, edit, deals, add 'hack' to title tags, drag the marker to 'less' then click 'save preference'. Remember to change your front page to 'new' on ozbargain.com.au (instead of 'list' or 'grid'). More info.

    ** groan **
    Not again..

But if you are going to do this, make sure you complete the survey to get 3 McNuggets, soft serve or small fries (usually emailed around 9am day after) and free medium OJ/soft drink with $3 spend (Studentedge).

    • +1

The $3 doesn't work because its only $2.80

      • Tartar sauce will fix that.
But out of all this, I don't think that's the biggest problem here..

    • Just be careful, some stores may only acknowledge that IF you purchase it with a full priced menu item. However, not many people care about it.

    • Is the Studentedge deal really only for OJ/soft drinks? I used it once and got a small iced latte.

      • Victorians could get a small coffee at one stage, although I'm not sure if that still is the case.
For everyone else, it's only Medium OJ/Soft Drink

  • How cheap does it get if you leave one beef in there?

    • +8

      deduct $1.1 !
      Quick maths!

      • -4

Cool, I wasn't aware of the going rate of McD's beef off the top of my head

        • +8

bruhhh, just read the post… OP said "remove 2x Beef Patties (Deducts $2.20 from meal)"

    • +3

      $2.80 + $1.10 = $3.90

    • +23

ill work it out on the supercomputer and let you know in a month

      • +2

Hi there. I need some fillings, and your name rhymes with dentist. Are you a dentist? If so, is it because crentist rhymes with dentist?

        • +4

You'll get your answer in a month

      • I've already run the numbers. The answer is… 42. Sorry, what was the question again?

  • +7

These are terrible. Why would you do this.

    • +15

To keep the ass nice and tight

      • +13

        Count me in

        • …the ass?

          • @UFO: Yes. My closest friends refer to me as donkey.

            • @[Deactivated]: Impressive ;).

              • @UFO: It's short for Donald Keith (my real name)

                • @[Deactivated]: I thought it was appendage related ;).
You should've gone with Donkey instead of Tightbottom!

  • +6

I was wondering if there was a final step to add BYO spam where the meat would have been, but I then realised that spam costs more than McDonald's meat.

  • +13

Next hack would probably be like remove the cup from a large Fanta and save 30c!

    • I'm keen to bring my own wrappers/plates if that makes it cheaper.

    • +17

"Sir please hold out your hand"

  • +2

how much if you remove the cheese and bacon??? and no bun only sauce

    • +1

No further price change after you remove the meat.

Are Hindi forbidden to consume pork or is it just beef?

          • +4

@[Deactivated]: Lol Hindi is the language mate. Muslims don’t eat pork. Hindus don’t eat beef. Though many Hindus don’t eat pork either (but not due to religious restriction).

            • @ccrap: So this deal is religiously okay for them. Good to know.

            • @ccrap: And Jewish people don't eat pork

            • +3

@ccrap: In my experience, many Hindus are happy to eat beef so long as no other Hindus are watching haha.

              • @ashanrath: yep. same can't be said for muslims though. it seems pork has a particularly strong and distinct taste and smell. they'll know straightaway.

                • +1

@belongsinforums: Know how damn delicious it is.

    • +3

good means more meat left for us

      • actually, if they also ate those meats, im sure we'd just ramp up production. the really good thing is that less meat eating is better for the whole environment. so in that way, it allows others to consume more, kinda.

  • +19

causes you to lose some of your dignity

I wear crocs. I have no more dignity to lose.

  • -6

time to vote down these stupid 'hacks'.

    • " that requires too much of a hassle and causes you to lose some of your dignity, but this one is quiet simple"

how is this hack 'quite simple' compared to the others?

      • +3

the others require you to add something like 11 cheeseburgers to the self serve order screens

        • -2

          'the others'?

There is one that involves putting in 11 hamburgers, and taking the meat off 10. That gives 10 meatless burgers and 1 meat burger. Maybe that takes a bit of time, but it gives you a lot of bun, sauce and pickles.

All the others are just taking off one or two meat patties (the exact same as this). So it's not like this is 'radical' in its simplicity.

    • -1

"Your negative vote on this post has been revoked by the community as this comment of yours has received too many negative votes." ridiculous….

      • Hahaha that's democracy for you.

  • +7

Seriously $5 for a small meal and you want to chop it down more.

  • +7

So a burger without patty being cheaper than a burger with patty qualifies as a bargain?

    • +2

Well it's not just a patty-less burger it's still got bacon - you end up making a cheese and bacon burger. Plus the drink and chips is a pretty good meal for $2.80.

      • +8

Don't eat the 7 chips in your small fries all at once

        • It's at least 8.

          • +6

@Andard: True. I did find one at the bottom of the bag.

            • +7

@[Deactivated]: If you look hard enough there's chip crumbs on the tables you could form into an entire 9th chip.

      • "pretty good meal"

lmao I've done farts that take up more room in my guts than this meal for ants.

  • You're removing all the protein from the burger leaving you with a big pile of carbs. No thanks

    • -5

You really think McDonald's "meat" patties contain any more protein than the other ingredients?

      • +2

Yes they definitely do contain more protein than the other ingredients. Maccas beef patties are just beef mince with salt/pepper. No fillers.

      • +1

Yes mate, in fact the burger contains 28 grams of protein with the 2 burger patties accounting fur about 20 grams of the total. The remaining rasher of bacon and the cheese accounting for the rest. If you through the buns away and just ate the internals minus the sauce, the bunless burger would actually be quite nutritious.

    • But there is bacon.

  • +1

It’s a shame removing the bacon doesn’t bring the price down. McDonald’s bacon is disgusting.

    • remember how bad it used to be? at least it's 'real' bacon now

      • I don’t remember it being any different from when I worked there 15 years ago. Just cooked, dried, chilled and then thrown on a grill for 30 seconds before being out into a burger. Gross.

        • isnt that what bacon is? precooked pork?

          • @belongsinforums: Maccas bacon used to be manufactured meat - i.e bacon sweepings pressed into a mold.

They changed it a few years ago for 'real bacon' - i.e not moulded meat.

Was most noticeable for the bacon & egg muffins - Hungry Jacks used to win that one hands down as they always used real bacon - Maccas I assume caught onto this and made the change..

  • A burger without beef patties. I guess it is better to have options.

  • LOL for $2.20 I'd rather leave the patties in :)

    • That's what she said.

      • Yep gotta have the meat between the buns …

  • +4

Removing meat from any burger on the menu will bring the price down. Is a Big Mac with no meat also a hack?

    • +1

      This still contains bacon.
Bacon rolls are acceptable meals. Big macs without meat are not.

      • +4

        I don’t think 0.7g of Mustard, 10g of Ketchup, 3.5g Onion, 1 Cheese and 1 Bacon is a good meal deal…

    • Most items reduce in price when you remove in customise option. Technically it's a feature not a hack.

  • +6

    Stop it.

    • +3

the idiots took away my negative vote:

'Your negative vote on this post has been revoked by the community as this comment of yours has received too many negative vote'

  • +3

Removing the patties from a burger to make it cheaper is hardly a ‘hack’.

    • -3

New Ozbargain rule. Anyone who posts deals that are just taking things off burgers gets banned.

Maybe the 10 no meat + 1 regular hamburger free was a good one, because taking off stuff resulted in paying nothing. But all these ones that take stuff off, but still require you to pay, are not deals.

  • +1

You could further add to this “hack” by getting 2 $1 Hamburgers instead, removing 2*patties saving $0.2 overall, and then getting two meatless hamburgers! So for $4.80 get a small double beef and bacon meal, and two hamburgers without meat!

    • +9

      Please don't encourage them

      • +1

I honestly think this is the biggest bullshit to come to Ozbargain, honestly… it’s almost as funny as the high yield Mercedes investment 🤔😂

        • it’s almost as funny as the high yield Mercedes investment

The difference is though that was a meme.
People actually are taking this kinda seriously..

When I know people are actually out there doing this suddenly it turns from funny to sad.

          • +2

@pennypincher98: I have been at McDonalds as a Production Crew/Crew Trainer/Manager for 3 years total. I haven’t seen anything to this extent. The only time I have seen something similar was customers removing patties on the McFeast and adding a chicken patty, saving $0.25, but I think that was only to get a Chicken McFeast for cheaper…

I really wish I could neg these stupid deals, but I can’t as I’m associated with McDonalds :(

    • -2

Please post as a deal. Thanks

  • +2

    Here we go again…

  • +6

Whoa whoa whoa. So you’re saying if I order less food, I pay less money?

    Negged because not a bargain.

  • +3

No. Not a deal. Not a bargain.

You know what happens if I pick a $9.95 nuggets meal from the menu then delete it from my order? I get nothing, for $0! #bargain

    • -3

I think it's a bargain because you can't get a $2.80 burger chips and drink meal anywhere. You could argue it'd be stupid removing a patty out of a plain hamburger and left with just the buns but OP points out you transform it into a cheese and bacon burger, which in a meal for $2.80 is a good feed.

      • HJ has $3 Bacon deluxe burger on Shake and Win(has 2 patties). Use a completed survey and get small chips and drink. That's a fair meal for $3. On occasion if you ask nicely and get the right staff you can sub the drink for a 2nd small chips. Now please stop these useless arse dragging so called hacks. You have had your fun. I I got one, lets get free booze how the Gov from Time Gentlemen Please got his name……….

      • +1

If you count that as a burger … I don't.

  • +2

Kinda misleading in the tittle by removing the patties does not nominate itself” as even a burger, vegetarian burgers actually have non beef/bacon patties, this deal does nothing by removing the main ingredient, should be called mc Donald’s bun meal. The last comment is correct, why not remove the entire order and it’s cheaper I don’t see this as some special, this deal is very silly. Next thing we should ask thrn to remove the ice cubs and see if it gets any cheaper…

  • Fries (small)
    $2.15

    Soft Drink (small)
    $2.50

    • Value of a patty less burger :) Big plus you get some bacon so not meatless .

I'd call it 50% of RRP conservative more likely closer to 40% .

Looks like ok value for some lol .

  • +2

All of these 'hacks' mostly involve removing burger patties, something you have always been able to do to any burger/meal on the McD app (except hamburger or chicken+cheese).

Having separate posts stating this for every different burger/meal combination doesn't make any sense. Just one that says removing a beef patty saves $1.10, chicken $2.00 and fish $1.60 will cover all these 'hacks'.

  • +6

Removing meat from a burger isn't a hack.. please stop posting these type of "deals"

    • -1

There's still meat on the burger..

    • +1

      isn't a hack
