Pretty good considering that this was $1,600 less than 10 months ago!

    • -6

      That was P20 Pro.
This is different model: Mate 20 Pro. Still a good price though.

      • -7

Overpriced from launch, like LG which I like so I can claim PP quicker.
The main brands that keep it up longer is Applesung.

      • +1

Why do people downvoted without giving a reason? Here, have my upvote.

        • coz he said P20 pro.

        • because FAKE NEWS

    • +3

This phone was meant to worth this much to begin with. Everyone got ripped off and got the green screens too

Huawei didn't take action until people complain in store and online. Even took it to ausdroid

Anyhow this phone should not have taken 10 months to this price. Huawei deliberately put the price up and didn't drop price. It was until recently due to Trump hence its dropped significantly. Huawei did not back down until this

Normally most Android flagship drops at 7-8, months mark

      • Does this have green screen problem as well?

        • no idea depends which batch. haven't read updates on it

  • -5

Awesome phone, Awesome Price, Awesome Built in Spyware.. and Unknown Vendor support..

How come I want this :)

    • +31

if you can find the spyware in this phone, Trump would pay you.

    • +3

Yes,Huawei is spying on you and apple and google isn't

      Keep on sleeping.

      • Whataboutism

Awesome price but not sure about this current hoo haa's with Trump vs Huawei…

    • +12

I see Trump's criticism as an endorsement.

  • +4

Bought it at launch. Great phone. Must grab at this price.

The Oppo Reno Z for ~$400 OR Huawei Mate 20 Pro $777. Thoughts?

    • Neither… Buy a cheap $50 phone and be a true OzBargainer. It will still make calls… ;-D

    • Mate 20 Pro

      • Pros for picking Huawei over Oppo is that the camera is better (has a wide angle), Wireless charging is available, there is opportunity to expand (but only with Huawei's only expandable) - so sort of makes it negligible.
Audiojack is on the Oppo however, and the Oppo is half the price.
Battery life and charging speed seems pretty competitive.
Huawei is 10 months old whereas the Oppo is 2 months.
If Google decides to not support Huawei that's game.
Any other things I'm missing? I can't decide haha

        • Oppo's are "chicks phones" who think their face is the only thing worth snapping.
Nokia tried so hard to outdo Huawei with up to 7 cameras, no chance.
Endless you tubes to compare stills and motion on top of range phones.
Some instances the X10 tops, some the S10 but overall the choice is clear!

Have the mate 20 pro. Best phone I have ever owned.

Charging speed is insane battery lasts more than a day with moderate use. Easily two days with light use

    • +2

Charging speed is insane, but I wouldn't recommend using it when you don't need to (I use a 2.1A adapter to charge overnight). Produces a crazy amount of heat which won't be good for the battery in the long term.

    • Oppo Reno Z has VOOC fast charging 4amps…apparently the 4A coming in is "split" to 2 batteries which are wired in serial. Fast charge, and less battery damage. Apparently…

The battery is large for this class of device. OPPO VOOC is two batteries wired in serial and the Charger is two chargers putting out 5V/2A each. It is an eminently sensible and safer way to give it the capacity and charge speed without overstressing a single 4000mAh battery and USB-PD charger. The ‘green’ cable USB-A to USB-C is for VOOC to deliver two concurrent charges. If you lose that you can still charge at half rate using the VOOC charger or a 5V/2A charger. It is not USB-C USB-PD compatible but using that charger will not damage it.

      https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/oppo-reno-z-as-satisfyi…

TL;DR - both charge really fast

      • Oneplus dash charge is better on mcclaren model

    Mate20x launched.

Whats the latest in terms of android support for this phone? Can you access and use the play store? Is that going to disappear soon?

    • +5

At the least it'll get the next version of Android (Android 10 Q) with EMUI 10. Yet another 90-day exemption has been handed out to Huawei for existing devices which gives hope… Source.

  • Does Google continue not to support its product/services on Huawei devices?

    • +2

I’m worries of that too, don’t want to end up no support from google

Tried my mate’s Huawei, I’m very impressed by its camera performance.

    • +1

90 day grace expired on 19/8 and US govt has given Huawei another 90 day grace period. I imagine their newest or flagship phones due for release will take advantage of this and will drop with Android as opposed to Huawei own harmonyOS

  • 777 :(

  • someone please tell me..does this have google Pay ?

    • +2

      Hi lamaCam

yes, definately has Google Pay, I am using mate 20 Pro for last 8 months with Google Pay

    • +1

You can download Google Pay via the Playstore and use the NFC on this phone to make payments.

  • Legend! Been waiting for another 800 buck deal on this one.

  • +2

Thats an amazing deal. Better than any sub $900 aud phone i can see on the market.

  • how does this compared to s10+?

    • -1

Of course the S10+ is better

    • +2

      It's much cheaper..

  • +9

Beware this phone doesn't take standard microSD card.
Huawei sell their own microSD for this

    • Huawei Nano Memory

    • +10

It's a fair warning but surely for most people 128gb still covers it? Particularly given the rise and rise of cloud.

      • Actually this is the only thing thst stopping me from buying a mate 20 pro. I have unlimited google drive backup, but I still like to store videos on my phone to be able to access them anytime

    • This is far better than 4 years ago when releasing dual sim phones gave people a retarded ultimatum…. Pick either 2 aims or 1 sim and micro SD!

If we are that far behind with innovation L, it's a worry. It may be unique memory, but better to not haVe to buy some fancy gadget and install a. Memory card from outside your phone as a hack to get it to work. I'd be happy having 2 aims and bonus expandable storage (not that I need it)

  • -1

Other than battery, seems like the LG V40 is a cheaper, better phone?

    • Why? For me V30 is much better than V40 (comparing what you get and what you spend)

  • +1

So what’s the future android os upgrade for this phone?

    • 🔮

      • +1

Seriously? Rolling back to v7 is bad

        Is it currently on v9?

  • +1

is this phone worth the extra $182 over the Mate 20 ?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/477512

    • Depends if you care about camera, screen, waterproof, battery size etc etc. I currently have a mate 10 and wouldn't upgrade to a regular mate 20 as it isn't an upgrade but depends what you need.

    • +3

AMOLED display, IR blaster, under-display fingerprint reader and most importantly (IMO) proper face-unlock make it worth it for me. Nice to be able to tap the power button and have it unlocked in <0.5 seconds without needing to swipe.

Also has higher-resolution camera sensors (40 vs 12mp wide, 20 vs 16mp ultrawide and a more capable 3x telephoto lens vs 2x).

  • +6

Jesus Christ, sent my mum this link to buy it, somehow she clicks through to mobicity store on related stores box and orders non pro for $710….. now to try and work out how to get them to cancel it.

    • Send a message to the seller, and if you can find out their contact number, give them a call.

    • +3

PM one of the two Mobileciti store reps. I'm sure they can help sort it out :)

      • +3

thanks, she already called them up and got it cancelled, ordering the correct one for her now myself haha.

  • Thanks heaps OP. Bought the blue one.

  • Its a good deal too bad im broke!!

  • +2

I just bought the P30 pro. Yet to inbox it!
Changing from Apple. Am I doing a good thing!??

    • +2

      Yes, you are.
      Sincerely,
      Future You

    • +1

Changing from Apple will be the best thing you ever did. Shackles released!

  • -1

Good phone despite its widespread insanely poor quality control; where Huawei released thousands of phones with faulty Oled panels with green tinge (reported everywhere, I found on XDA). I'll steer clear since I'm not absolutely certain this issue has been resolved especially with early stock still held at Aussie retailers. Last upgrade for me was early 2017 (p10+) and I hate EMUI with a passion… SAMSUNG and LG lack features and tech innovation compared to Huawei but at least they know to to release a decent ROM with the the simplicity required to operate! At this stage I'll upgrade to a 5G phone since anything less than that with a Telstra SIM seems pointless. Will closely watch Mate 30 Pro

  • Love this phone. Had a it for a while then the green screen came on so got rid of it.

Only thing that worries me is this USA thing…

    https://www.techradar.com/au/amp/news/huawei-condemns-us-mov…

    • Hi agalea101,

Understand your concern but no need to worry as the article you linked focuses on the affiliates for parts in new Huawei devices, and doesn't affect existing Huawei phones already built

  • Anymore Twilight variant btw OP?

    • Hi Cloudie9,
Sorry unfortunately the Twilight colour is out of stock with no ETA currently.

  • much better deal here. Mobileciti going to beat it?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/478438

    • -1

It's the same deal dude calm down.

  • tobydealsau has this for $779

    • Use code GG10OFF to make it $769

    • Pls share the link, are they Au stock(Au spec), 2 yrs Warranty / price inc GST???

  • Mums arrived already, great service, this one is the international version which didn't have the Google feed (and no way to turn it on) unlike my single Sim Optus branded one.
