  • Before anyone gets excited, the picture for the deal is for a different product.

The Lii-402 is 4-bay and does not include a power adapter or a fancy screen. It comes with a USB cable that you can plug into your own USB power adapter / phone charger.

Have asked the mods if they can fix the thumbnail.

        • Thanks

  • is lii-402 the best one to get?

    • +1

Well it runs on micro-USB, has 4 ports, supports most battery compositions, can change amperage from 500mA to 2A depending on amount of cells and can revive "dead" cells so I'd say it's pretty good for the price.

      • +1

Have one but didn’t read the instruction manual, or retain it… how do you revive dead cells?

I’ve just putting putting enloops in it and it’s working great!

        • +1

I can't remember 100% but from recollection you put the battery in and while the lights are flashing you press the button until the correct cell voltage is selected. Then it'll start charging until it hits that voltage. Once it's finished and the lights are all solid you can take it out and put it back in and you should be good to charge it as normal.

Not the best for AA nimh batteries like eneloops. If you are charging four batteries at once, it can only supply 500mA. This is too low, batteries should charge in 2-3 hours if you want the -dV/dT effect to correctly terminate the charge.

If you are willing to only use two of the slots when charging AA batteries, then it will charge at 1000mA, and it's a good charger when used that way.

Other chargers like the Lii-500 can charge four AA batteries at 1000mA, and come with a mains plugpack, but are 4-5 times the price.

      • It's really a limit of the USB charging, given that it can only have a 5V 2A max supply of power.

Note also that if you have a weak power source then it's not going to charge very well or at all as I see from reviews it shuts off if the supply power is not up to task.

        • it can only have a 5V 2A max supply

That would be plenty, if it had a switchmode power supply.

Typical step-down switchmode efficiency of 80-85% would give at least 4A at 2V, and 2V is more than enough to charge NiMh batteries. So if it had a switchmode power supply, adding maybe $2-$3 to the cost, it could easily charge 4xAA batteries at 1000mA.

Doing this would have the bonus of making the unit run cooler, so I think the limitation is price.

  • How do these compare to a LaCrosse or Nitecore?

    • +4

I'm on my 5th unit of the 2-bay model (Lii-202) and have gotten probably around 2000 hours worth out of each before they failed.
This is with 10-12 hours daily use, with which they seem to last about 6 months.

      • +2

Wow, impressive usage, what do you need so many batteries for?

        • +6

Careful what you ask. Some sh!t you can't unread.

  • Good alternative deal for suckers like me who still have eBay Plus or Amazon Prime for free shipping on the other deals for this charger.

I already have a Lii-500 and D4 but this is cheap enough to impulse buy :P. Dunno why I just have it in my head a micro USB capable smart charger just seems like a good thing to have handy.

    • a micro USB capable smart charger just seems like a good thing to have handy.

It is. I go camping and take it with me plus I just keep it in my backpack at all times. Works great with a decent power bank and can charge everything everywhere.

  • was just looking for the charger … thx for sharing

  • I've been using mine with ALDI rechargable batteries for kids devices and have been happy with it

  • Guys, how do you get this price point? Can not apply backitnewall11 and shows 13.01

    • There is no coupon? What are you on about? You select the lii-402 and it's $8.46 (then 10% GST).

  • Has anyone's house burnt down from this charger ?

    • There were some dodgy batches of LaCrosse chargers with that reputation, but I haven't seen any such warnings for Liitokala chargers.

  • I just bought a Nitecore SC4 a week ago ☹️

    • +1

The Nitecore is good, don't be sad.

  • I am looking for a charger that will allow me to charge LiOn cells and also revive dead tablet and phone batteries. I have a few old tablets who's batteries were OK but dropped below the charging threshold for the device and now dont work, if I open them up and use some alligator clips will this do the trick safely?

    • +1

Nothing sounds safe about anything you just said. I like the idea of reviving old batteries, but I don't want to explode myself.

      • +1

It's a common problem with a lot of electronics, if you leave them for a while and the voltage drops below a certain threshold the device will refuse to charge. Charge it up and bingo, its fine for a few more years (provided you don't let it discharge so much again).

Doesn't even have to be old, I have a dustbuster I bought 18 months ago, when I moved house I didn't use it for 6 months, wouldn't charge while still in warranty. It was clearance at the time so no bunnings replacement, and when I spoke to black and decker they were giving me a hard time, wanted a receipt, and pay shipping etc, wasn't worth it. Took it apart, charged the battery in place for about 20sec, put it back together and charged fine and been using since. The main issue is that if you use an normal power source to charge and the battery isn't protected you can cause issues I believe, hence why wanting a proper LiOn charger

    • +2

If that's all you want to do, better off just getting a TP4056 charger board for a fraction of the price and it'll probably be safer (relatively) as apparently that knows to only trickle charge out-of-spec dead Li-ions as well to bring the voltage up.

No guarantees though and depends a lot how they've designed the batteries too.

      • Only 1.25 on eBay, how good is that! Still I might get both as I do want to be able to conveniently charge cells on their own when they are removable

      • New to this, how do I attach battery as its only board?

        • Clips, solder, whatever suits you.
(But if you're that new to it to ask it then I'd def research a lot more first before trying it)
