$5 Bonus Cashback ($5 Min Spend) on eBay.com.au via ShopBack

8634

Hi guys,

Happy Cyber Monday! We're offering a $5 bonus when you spend $5 or more on eBay Australia via ShopBack, same as Black Friday. If you took advantage of this offer from Friday, you're eligible to participate in this one again for a second $5 bonus.

Please pay close attention to the T&Cs and note that the use of any coupon codes on eBay will void your eligibility for the regular 1% cashback, but you would still be eligible for the $5 bonus.

Don't forget, we also have 5 flash sales happening from 5pm AEDT tonight again!

Note: The $5 cashback bonus will be credited into your ShopBack account by 31st December. It is on top of the usual 1% cashback that would automatically track to your account a few days after purchase.

Terms and Conditions:

  • To qualify for the $5 Cashback Bonus, you must make any purchase (AU $5 minimum spend after discounts, excluding shipping & GST) from eBay Australia (eBay.com.au) through ShopBack between 12:00AM and 11:59PM AEDT (inclusive) on 2 December.
  • Limited to one bonus per customer.
  • If you participated in this offer on 29 November, you are eligible to participate in this new offer as well.
  • The $5 cashback bonus is in addition to the usual cashback you receive on eBay Australia purchases.
  • The $5 cashback bonus will not appear in your account after a few days. The bonus will be credited separately into your ShopBack account by 31 December 2019.
  • Offer is not applicable to purchases on eBay USA (eBay.com).
  • Purchases of items excluded from cashback (for example gift cards, charity and non-profit items, eBay Plus membership, Cars, Bikes, Boats, Coins, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel) do not qualify you for the bonus.
  • The use of any coupons towards your order will void your eligibility for the usual cashback, however you will still be eligible for the $5 bonus.
  • Returned, exchanged and cancelled orders will void your eligibility for the bonus.
  • ShopBack reserves the right to dishonour bonuses for members who have participated in this offer in a fraudulent manner (ie. using multiple accounts). Such members may be banned and any cashback on their accounts forfeited.
  • ShopBack reserves the right to terminate this offer early without prior notice.
  • You must have earned at least $10 confirmed cashback from general purchases to withdraw the $5 Cashback Bonus.

Any questions or issues? Send an email to [email protected] and we'll help sort it out.

Are you based in Sydney? We're hosting a meetup on Wednesday 11th December - join us for a night of free food, drinks and prizes to be won!

    I'm a simple man, I see cashback I upvote

  • Can we use eBay gift card?

    • +12

      Yes.

  • Does it cover overseas items (purchased in AUD on eBay.com.au)?

    • +11

      Overseas items are eligible.

If you are buying in a currency other than AUD, then please put in a buffer with your purchase amount (ie. spend a bit more) because we will base your purchase amount on what eBay reports back to us in AUD. With fluctuations in exchange rates, they could report your purchase amount being a few cents short of the $5 min spend which could disqualify you from the offer.

      • +2

        Thank you. Username checks out.

      • I know 'as long at it shows on ebay AU' is the usual answer. But what if the item only shows on ebay AU by manually typing it's auction number into the search field? Do those items qualify?

e.g. I purchase a lot of things from the USA. And when sellers don't ship internationally, those items often don't show up on ebay AU. So I search for what I want using ebay US, then either copy and paste their auction numbers into ebay AU (or add ".au" onto the URL). They show up then, but they say "seller may not ship internationally" and the postage is $$$. So I buy it anyway, then have it shipped to 'my USA address' which is a reshipper in the USA, who consolidates them into one package to send to Australia.

        • That's fine, just the purchase needs to be done via eBay.com.au.

          • @gotyourback: Great, thanks.

            • @GregMonarch: Who the best freight forwarder these days?

              • +1

@tunzafun001: I'm about to ship my first consolidated package. However I've compared several reshippers and Planet Express came out the cheapest so far. Additionally there's no GST on packages (yet anyway - but I'm sure Greedy Gerry is handing out brib… um… 'donating to influence government policy' to 'solve' that).

Online reviews seem consistently happy with P.E. too, unlike some of the others.

After signing up and depositing $5 USD, there's a code you can enter that gives you 30 days of the premium service instead of the free one-package-at-a-time service. Which means you pay no USA sales tax if you send items to their Oregon warehouse.

That $5 USD goes towards shipping your first package - they don't keep it - I think it's a one-time thing, probably just so they know you're genuine. Pretty sure after that first package, your balance can be zero until it's time to send the next package.

You can't see where to enter the code until you've deposited that $5 USD. The code is here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/498482

Make up some pretend package dimensions and compare their price with the others using their online calculator.

[Edit]: Oh - and if another code comes up before your 30 days is up, you can enter that new code as well to extend your trial. I stumbled on that one by mistake. Just before your trial is up, search online for something like "Planet Express coupon code".

    SB are frickin killing it.

  • +5

Coupon codes are allowed for $5 bonus? Awesome! Happy upvote :)

Oh shit. Now I need to find something worth $5 to buy haha

  • +2

Please eBay… decent sitewide cashback for Cyber Monday!

  • $194 for ps4

  • +3

Of course this comes up an hour after I buy something haha…

    • +1

      Same lol

  • Thanks GYB.
Quick question, if I win an auction can I use that for the bonus as long the final winning bid is over $5?

    • +1

Make sure you've clicked through SB prior to bidding and winning, and that you pay for the auction in the same session. Provided the winning bid is over $5 (excluding GST for international sellers, and excluding fees like postage) then you're okay.

      • Excellent, thank you for your prompt response :-)

      • Can you add a few items to your cart to get over $5.00?

  • awesome!

  • +24

So hard to keep track of all these cashbacks that dont register/show up in our accounts, not sure how many I have atm or when they're due…

    • +5

I have r same feeling. I even mixed up between cr and sb and now regret it…

    • -3

      There's an app for that

    • +5

A few days ago I finally started keeping a spreadsheet on my desktop to track them. One worksheet each for CR & SB. ;-)

      • +2

Heh, I've just done the same recently after I had an issue with my shopback earnings dropping. Been meaning to do it for ages.

Trying to track down info about old bonus payments has been painful… I keep better screenshot records these days.

        • Who knows? The returns take ages, I end up using these cashbacks as an afterthought Help

    • +2

just put them in your calendar with reminder

    • +2

So hard to keep track of all these cashbacks

If you use Gmail, use labels to track the cashbacks. Create a "ShopBack-pending" label, and apply it to the Paypal or EBay order confirmation email you get when you order something. Once a week, check all of your "ShopBack-pending" labelled emails, and query any that haven't tracked in your Shopback account.

I also have an "orders in transit" label, for things that I have ordered but not received yet, so if something doesn't arrive, I know. And you can make a "CashRewards-pending" label too. Multiple labels can be applied to the same email.

When the cashback tracks, you can remove the label. When the item arrives in the mail, you can remove the "orders in transit" label.

  • +3

    Ohhh yeaaaahh!!
I can't sleep peacefully again, back to hunting stuff for $5 on eBay.

  • +1

This has to be operating at a loss just to p15s off cashrewards

    • -5

Yes, that's what's happening here. SB is trying to buy market-share. Or maybe even drive CR out of business. The first is fine from my POV, the second would be detrimental in the long run. I try to balance that by picking CR whenever the cashback rates are the same, to give them a fighting chance.

      • +2

You do know CR has made it onto the Deloitte Fast 50 multiple times? A list of Australia's fastest growing tech companies based on revenue growth.

        • +1

          cr are sleeping

          • @capslock janitor: As far as I know they don't have a successful overseas business that allows them to keep losing money in one market for a long time…

            • @team teri: sb rep must be based in singapore or smth they got time advantage to stay up and post midnight

      • I do this too but because my purchases seem to track better with CR.

      • Interesting. Someone care to explain why the attempt to keep competition alive in the interest of all consumers attracts negative votes?

        • +1

          Negs are FREE. Just watch.

  • +1

Can't think of anything I want that is around $5…

    Any idea??

    • +1

      Phone cover.

      • Mine is less than 2 bucks :)

    • +1

2m Hdmi cable $5.50 to connect your PS/Laptop with your SmartTv.

      • +1

Spare HDMI cables are a solid investment. Power adaptors might be another. Perhaps small items of jewelry like a pendant with a semi-precious stone.

    • Batteries?

      • +1

9V and coin/button cells are good bets.

    • Spend $6? … Or even …. $10!

      • +1

        • +1

Yeah watch out everybody, there's a man waving a $10 note around threatening to use it and I think he's serious!

  • +12

My ebay purchase on 29 Nov still hasn’t been tracked yet. Is this normal?

    • +1

Mine also hasn't… Usually my coffee order is tracked pretty quickly.

    • +1

Takes a few days to come through - speeds vary by store.

    • +1

Same, the last $5 deal hasn't tracked yet for me

    • +2

same here, and my Amazon purchase on 29 Nov also not tracked, while I made a purchase on Ebay via Cashrewards on 30 Nov was tracked the next day

    • +2

purchase from ebay.com.au on friday and saturday not tracked yet. purchase from aliexpress on saturday tracked ok.

      • +1

ebay order from saturday is tracked but not friday

    • +1

      Same for me

    • +1

      Mine still waiting also.

      • +1

Same here for Friday eBay purchase.

  • Minimum $ 5 excluding GST mean purchase something for $ 5 would not qualify ?

    • +5

For international items because there's an additional 10% GST charge. Local items at $5 or more are fine.

Please also note here for transactions in non AUD currencies.

      • Thank you

  • Do you need to activate it? Last time got stung by SB during the $2 11/11 sale. I have made plenty of purchasess on ebay for hundreds of dollars (after seeing the $2 frenzy sale and following the SB link to ebay), however, forgot to activate prior to purchases, thus have not recieved any $2.

    • No extra activation required. Just activate cashback as usual with eBay.

thus have not recieved any $2.

As per T&Cs of any bonus offers we run, bonuses do not come in straight away - they will be added to all eligible accounts by a particular date.

      • Oh no I had a confirmation from shopback CS stating that since I have not activated the $2 I will not be getting my $2.

        • +1

Yes that's correct if you haven't done the extra activation from that 11/11 promo, then you wouldn't be eligible for the $2.

        • 11/11 sale cash back not credited yet i guess. I have not either

  • That bit is interesting:

The use of any coupons towards your order will void your eligibility for the usual cashback, however you will still be eligible for the $5 bonus.

Will Ebay give us some sitewide discount? Likely based on past years, but far from guaranteed seeing how stingy they are these days…

  • +3

No one is interested in the flash sales from 5pm? I cant find info on it

  • +2

Can it be for multiple items or just one item?

  • Is it valid when you make an offer for a listed item? (assuming that the seller would need to accept your offer and payment be made on the same day as the promo)

  • Question: Limit per customer means shopback account or ebay account??

  • Thanks rep! Must this be done via the app, the desktop site, mobile browser? Or can it be done anywhere?

Currently only have convenient access to ebay via mobile browser.

Edit: going to assume all are eligible since the t&cs don't state otherwise :)

    • SB only do app only or anything. Never saw app excluded so far (as they probably want to promote their app more)

  • -3

    Any 40% sales coming? Lol

  • Are you allowed to move items from watch list to cart? The competitions t&C says you can't do this because eBay says so. But you don't have any such clause in your t&c's.

    • Meh, who cares what ebay says. Just copy the auction number, delete the item from your watchlist, go to Shopback and click through to ebay, paste the number into the ebay search box and hit enter, then add to cart and buy.

      • Is that still going to track?

        • Well, who can guarantee anything, as it seems some of us still don't get cashbacks (whether it's our 'fault' or something else, who knows)… but it's what I do - and while I haven't been checking every cashback, my balance is going up and I often do what I described.

I research and save items in my WATCHlist (not WISHlist - just in case it makes a difference)… Then I wait for these deals to come up, copy the auction number (to make 100% sure I don't accidentally buy a different/more expensive one). Then delete it from my watchlist, refresh the myebay page to check it's definitely gone from the list. Then close that page, click through to ebay again from shopback/cashrewards, paste the number into the new ebay page search field, add to cart, checkout and pay. (Making sure the browser plugin stays green/ticked the entire time.)

          • @GregMonarch: maybe ebay is Pro-sb

          • +3

@GregMonarch: My track rate with SB is around 50%, maybe slightly above. I thought the success rate was much higher until yesterday I went over the history and found it was actually quite bad.

You have to check it every few days and I usually don't bother over a few bucks. But over time it adds up. And you only have 30 days to raise it with them before the window to investigate a missing cashback expires. The tricky part is the $2 or $5 bonuses like this. They track differently so if it doesn't appear within a few days it might be working as intended. But then the window closes when you realize it's not tracked.

No I don't use ad blockers btw.

            • +2

@lostn: Yes I have had these issues exactly. And you can spend a lot of time tracking it all. I do not understand why they have to have only 1 month to claim all the records will still exist longer than that. Its like they want you to miss out.

    • Our clause is here

To ensure your Cashback is successful:

      • Ensure that you Do NOT add products to the eBay wishlist and purchase/bid over 24 hours later, cashback may not be awarded

Worst case, just open up all your desired items, remove from watch list and add them again.

      • Can you ask why they require this? Can using the watch list lead to losses on their end?

      • +2

Is the "wishlist" actually the watch list, or is it the "save for later" section in your cart?

  • how long does it take to get the email?

    • Excruciatingly
