  • wow…great price. I am in and just waitting for the 5% off.

    • Coupon is live now :)

      • +1

        bought one. Thank doweey

      • Thanks OP. I also bought one for Xmas pressie for wife. Ticked that one off the list.

    • How do you get extra 5% off?

  • +2

I have got one and it's awesome!!

    • Have you compared it with the Bose QC35-IIs or Sony 1000XM3s?

      • I've had these and the Bose QC 35. I prefer the bose as they have better base and not as many highs but for under 200 these are a steal.

        • How's the NC? Is it worthwhile paying extra for a Sony XM3 or Bose QC II?
My use case is treadmill, office and TV at night.

          • +1

@d86: Noise cancelling is ever so slightly worse than Bose but it's still pretty great. The XM3 and QC II are definitely better but they are another $100+. You'd be pretty hard pressed to be disappointed with these for the price. I do know JB have these on display so it may be worth ordering them click and collect trying out the demo units and then deciding whether or not you want them.

            • @ArchieD: Thanks will try them on tomorrow.

              • @d86: I owned both PXC550 and XM3 and sold the XM3 as I prefer the sound of PXC 550. Noise cancelling is slight worse but make no difference when using in the office. I bought another pair due to this deal as a back up.

  • +1

    Excellent price for these.

  • I'm in the market for a good pair of bluetooth noise cancelling headphones…
I must say these ones seems great but I think they look a little ugly ;-/
Would love a price like this on the Bose QC35ii

Also not sure but I think the HD 4.50 BT NC is a newer model, and its currently $159.19 @ amazon global (ships from the US from the looks of it)L
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Sennheiser-HD-4-50-BT-NC/dp/B01MSZ…

      • Yes i saw this when I googled
But $40 cheaper and a bit more of a modern look might be the winner

    • +2

I have the PXC550s and HD 4.50 BT (not NC but same shape).

The PXC550s are in a totally different class, much more comfortable, better sound quality and better build quality.

Yeah they're not as pretty as the Sony's or the Bose, but they're great headphones.

    • Is that USD$159? It's shipped from US Amazon so might not be AUD$

  • Very good price. It was only a few months ago it was $249 at David Jones. :-)

  • Really good price for the PXC550 !! Especially from JB :D

  • Are these on clearance because version II has been released?

    • Yep, there's also a new momentum wireless.

  • +1

    Amazing deal for the PXC550

  • Just bought PXC 550 10 days ago for $249. Not happy:(

    • +2

Purchase one here and return it with the $249 receipt maybe? Or if you purchased from JB, could be worth asking for the difference back if possible.

      • Headphones can't be return if box was opened. I'll try to call them them. Thanks for your reminder.

        • +5

All good, if you don't have any luck on the phone, you can purchase a brand new set with this deal and return it under the old receipt. Effectively netting the same result as I believe their returns policy is 30 days.

          • @doweyy: That is really good idea:)

          • @doweyy: doweyy changes his name to dodgeyy haha nice idea!

          • @doweyy: Got refund $50 difference. Thanks mate.

        • +1

          He meant return the replacement.

        • As others have said, you can return the sealed ones.

Other than that, you can return opened headphones if they fail to meet one of the Consumer Guarantees (https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…). I've returned a pair of Jabra wireless headphones to JB before now as they wouldn't stay in my ears - not fit for purpose.

  • +2

I have the PXC550s and would highly recommend them, great sound and for this price you will be very happy with them.

    • How's the NC? Did you use them on the plane?

      • Have tried these side by side to the Bose qc25 and they're basically the same. And that was both in front of me and I couldn't pick a difference.

        • +1

@d86: i have QC35 II. QC35 has a better NC for sure. Tested it at the same time on the flight. Because PXC550 is using noise adaptive cancelling technology, i find it not doing the max cancelling as it should sometime. Sometime i have to double tap to switch off the noise cancelling and repeat to reactivate the noise cancelling so that it picks up the right frequency to do the cancelling. I dont think it is a faulty product as some people also find the NC isn't as good as QC35. However, once the music is on, i could hardly tell the difference. I like PXC550 more because it fits my small head better. But it does get hot and sweaty on ears after wearing it for a long time. The best part is that you can adjust volume with PXC550. The volume button on QC35 is useless once you plug into inflight entertainment.

  • I have the PXC550.

PXC550 is good, but you can't use mic and headset at same time.

Great stereo sound with mic not turned on. Have mic turned on at same time then sound quality deteriorates. So cannot be used for a gaming headset for instance.

This is becasue bluetooth profile used doesn't allow full bandwidth for sound when both mic and headset on at the same time, bluetooth profile is still used even if the headphones are wired to your device.

Good for phone use, not for anything else.

    • So no way to answer phone calls?

      • Yes, for sure. You can answer calls. The audio quality is good enough to talk and listen on the phone as high quality audio is not required. You just can't listen to high quality music and have the mic on at the same time. The audio quality of the music is severely reduced if the mic is on.

EDIT - here is the issue https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/7kbsmw/help_with_…

        • I would assume this would be Bluetooth bandwidth limitation.

Still a great headphones for the price.

      • In fact, its pretty good for phone calls. Solid mic and multi-device connectivity

      • I just thought I would share my experience as I have been searching the web for something that works and was unsuccessful. I have been looking for a headset that can multi-pair AND works with PC/MAC for using both mic and sound.

The PXC550 in itself wont do both by default. It multi-pairs very well (One of the best I have trailed).

Eg.. You can listen to a YouTube video on a PC and when you get a call on the mobile, the headset pauses the Youtube clip and notifies you about the call. When you hang up, the clip resumes automatically.
However, you can answer calls on the PC (tested with Skype4Business for instance) but it wont use the headset's mic (It only uses the computers's mic). So, the mic is not supported
What I found tho is you can pair the PXC550 to a PC using a BTD 800 USB ML dongle. This enables you to use the mic and multi-pair.

The BTD 800 USB ML can be purchased separately. It activates the correct drives for the mic to function on a PC (have not gotten around to test it on a MAC). However, it does affect some of the multi-pair features.
For example, you can have 2 devices connected at the same time but if you're listening to a YouTube clip on the PC and receive a call on the mobile (android in my case), it wont pause the video. It will just disconnect the sound from the PC and notify you about the call coming through your mobile.

I have just returned my PXC550 as this mic thing was a deal breaker for me.

What I found tho is this model which I wish I saw previously.

Sennheiser sells a business model which, to me at least, looks like the exact same headset as the PXC550 but it is Skye4Business certified. The headset is called MB 660 UC MS. It comes with a better case & the dongle to activate it on a PC.
I will be buying it tonight hopefully to test it.

I note that using AUX or the micro USB with the PC activates the mic but in those examples, I am referring to using the headset through Bluetooth.

        I hope this helps.

Link to the MB 660 UC MS headset: https://en-au.sennheiser.com/wireless-headset-office-phone-m…
Link to the BTD 800 USB ML dongle: https://en-au.sennheiser.com/btd-800-usb-ml

        Both sell cheaper elsewhere.

  • These work great on my iPhone but however they are shite when connecting to my Dell XPS 15 9780 - I'googled and found out it was something to do with A2DP connectivity?

Never had this problem with my QC35s (until I left them on a plane)

    • Are you connected to your iPhone at the same time? I find that is an issue with mine – my MacBook leaves its bluetooth on even when the lid is shut now…

    • See my comment above. It might help you with the Dell connection :)

  • +1

Did anyone get ow to price beat the Sony wh1000xm3b
That were on sale in Adelaide (dodgy web sight )
My pairs cost me $189 each

    • For the XM3?

        • link to dodgy web site?

          • @Bacons: Not allowed to post on here as it’s been remove this morning after someone ealse posted it

        • I saw it on Google Shopping, dodgy website, wouldn't buy from them.
UPD: Just noticed you PB them. Wow!

        • I just called OW this morning. They're miraculously out of stock of this model EVERYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA HAHAHA. your price beat must've triggered them.

  • I have one. NC is good but QC35 is better. I had it connected to my computer and phone at the same time, every time my phone rings it switch to the phone but it never able to switch it back to computer automatically. Kinda annoying and I just end up unpair it with the phone.

  • So tempted to buy another pair at this price! The only gripe I have with these is the case. The standard one is a soft material and pretty useless. I bought an oem case for $50 But it’s too big!

    • Yes! Would want another one. Such a good bargain. I bought one for $240 in April this year and thought i got the cheapest price ever!

  • It doesn't get any better than this at a sub $200 price! If anyone is on the fence but unwilling to spend another $100+ for the bose, I'd recommend pulling the trigger.

  • Unfortunately for iPhone users it doesn’t support AAC codec

  • +1

I purchased it several years ago.

    1 - Has APTx
2 - It doesn't warm up on the ears
3 - This price is incredible
4 - If you can tell the NC is worse than Sony, you should be an acoustic engineer

    • Any delay when viewing movies?

      • none noted.

    • Does it have hot swap feature for connecting to multiple devices?

My current device some cheap Taotronics TT-BH22 is great and got it for $60 AUD but if I want to use it on another device I have to unpair it from my current device and then pair it to my other device and do it all again if I want to switch back to my original device.

It is fine for now since it was so cheap and honestly a great item for the price but a small part of me really wishes it had the hot swap pairing multiple devices feature which gives it the ability to switch between devices on the fly with no unpair re-pair bullshit because it cab get tedious and muck up your day especially if you have automated a lot of other things and have a good flow going.

So yeah do these headphones have that multiple pairing fast switching devices feature or nah?

      • +2

        I confirm it does.
Even better, if you are listening to music on your tablet, and you get a phone call on your phone. It pauses the tablet, takes the call on the phone. Resumes tablet.
        Black magic.

The voice lady also says "connecting to phone 1" "connected"
        "Connecting to phone 2" "connected"

I am still waiting on her to give me motivational messages, new future feature hopefully.

        • Wow holy sheep's that is amazing I didn't even think about that possibility of a feature yeah that would be pretty black magic which I am a huge fan of.

Love little hidden tips and tricks like this.

Yeah would be a nice little thing if it could go you can do it you are almost there keep it up every now and then reading your physical and mental health somehow haha lol.

Honestly I'm waiting for one with like a soft rumble massage feature even if just a little tease as it might be enough to bring your exhaust state out of fatigue and help you get to the next checkpoint.

I wonder what headphones of the future a billion years from now would be like.. Probably feel like it is not there non existent just sending pulses through the ether and thought waves haha lol ok I'll stop now because somebody will read this and neg me for thinking I am too high or something talking beyond the means or purpose of this thread or comment lol.

          Good bye for now.

          • +1

            @AlienC: hahaha love the reply.

            Also, extra tricks:

            1. When you remove the headphones and place them on a table, the music gets paused and resumes when you put them back on.
              Love this feature for podcasts.

            2. Double touch tap to stop the NC, then double-tap touch to resume NC is awesome when travelling and need to hear someone or announcements without removing the headphones.

Are we also going to discuss about Hisense 65PX? :(

    • +2

Does the 65PX has bluetooth? will I be able to pair my PXC550 to it?

      • if not, simply get a digital output to bluetooth converter dongle.

simply plug it in the digital out plug, pair up to the headphone.

Bonus, if there is lag, you can adjust the lag via the TV settings.

        example: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bluetooth-5-0-Transmitter-Receiv…

        • +1

sorry, it was a joke to reply the comment no talk is talking about 65PX..clearly it did not work.

  • Damn tempted … With TRS…

    • +1

how can you do TRS when the original price is less than $300. Unless you intend to buy something else at JB

      • +1

        Get 2, problem solved :)

      • I meant the Hisense tv..

        Kidding :)

        • Hand carry it on the plane silly. Duh.

          /s

          • @xoom: Yep, just need fold in quarter to pass the cabin size restriction!

  • -2

Version 2 is coming out !

  • Ahhhh wanted to try them first in store and now missed out. Looks like I'll have to stick with my BH22's
