Kogan HD Digital Set-Top Box with PVR Only $9 (with $30 PayPal Code and Free Shipping)

14217

Ok - this is an updated deal from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50240 (thanks to fma007)

Use your Paypal account to get a $30 discount code (one code per account)
https://www.paypal-australia.com.au/topcustomers/offers.asp

And Kogan is offering Free Delivery till midnight tonight (10th August, 2011)

The best deal I found is the Kogan HD Digital Set-top Box with PVR only $9!
http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/hd-digital-set-top-box-pvr/

There are other products too that you might find handy - just check: http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/?utm_source=MailingList&utm_med…

N.B. Free Shipping offer and Paypal Coupon excludes products with a LivePrice and Free Shipping is not valid for remote or rural delivery areas

Enjoy!

UPDATE The PayPal coupon might not work for the HD Set-top box, as Kogan changed this to an "On Sale" item…check below comments for details. But I guess other products that don't fall under "On Sale" or "LIVEPRICE" will still qualify.

UPDATE 2 Deal is now expired as Kogan has changed all of their products to either "On Sale" or "Live Price". Thanks for all your supports.

UPDATE 3 As per Kogan's Twitter site http://twitter.com/#!/Kogan - Kogan will honour all successfull transactions (Thanks texanboy)

Plus the compettion Kogan is running. If you refer 10 friends you get a 5% discout, 20 friends = 10%.

Soooooo if you get 20 ppl you get 10% off, which is $3.90 off bringing the grand total to $5.10 for a set top box.

    BARGAIN!

And lose you mates and credibility at the same time

    • +13

Ratting your mates to Kogan for $4 saving? Make sure those are the 20 mates you hate.

  • The Kogan PVR supports standard USB mass storage devices. Most Western Digital HDDs are not supported.

    :(

  • Anychance of getting the 30$ code again? As in I never used it but didnt write it down….

    • Same happenned with me - but I was lucky, the code was saved in my Browser at the Kogan Site
      Try your luck!

    • I did the same.. stupid system can't just regurgitate the same code!
No luck with returning to the site…

nice find. purchased at $9. I'll give kogan a go at that price !!

maybe you can one of these tripods (at $29) for free:
    http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/digital-video-camera-tripod/

seems it doesn't like a checkout of $0, so maybe head to the TV Accessories page and get 3x HDMI cables and 1x RCA cable for $1 ($31-$30)

there's also a TV wall bracket for $9:
    http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/extendable-arm-wall-mount-10-22…

Nice, 9$ stb. I paid using credit card too, which seemed to work. Seems strange that a discount code for paypal can be used to pay be credit card, but whatever.

  • Bought 2 :D Nothing else seems to be worth it on their website thou..

  • kogan.com.au has gone into meltdown.

Can't get the code to work

I have generated a code, and tried to enter it in both the Kogan check out and on the paypal site. On Kogan, no discount is applied, and on paypal, it says to enter a valid code

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?

    • not working for me either :(

    • Same problem here - I think they're onto us…

      • +2

The PVR is now listed as ON SALE I think that's why the code no longer works..

  • -2

    me neither
    says discount $0

  • getting slow…..

  • -1

I've entered the code and went through paypal checkout but it still wants $39.

Is this one of those offers where they credit you the $30 later?

  • Looks like they have marked the set top box "On Sale", thus making the PayPal discount not valid.

    • EDIT: It does state no sale items ><

Still meant to be valid though, isn't it? The terms and conditions don't state no sale items..

    • Actually it looks like everything other than LivePrice items are now "On Sale"

    • -2

      T&C from the paypal offer:

"This voucher is not valid for products marked as "On Sale" or for LivePrice specials."

Looks like the cottoned on boys…

Oh well - I never like Kogan, this isn't going to help with that sentiment

      • +12

Google cache shows this was $39 yesterday and not marked as on sale

Now it's on sale at that price. Nice work Kogan…. </sarc>

        • +2

Well spotted FBB! The ACCC is gonna love that one as soon as the complaints start rolling in! :)

        • +1

fatty how can I access the google cache as I would like to send this to the ACCC

        • +1

          google this:
"Buy PVR with HD Set Top Box and Digital Set Top boxes"

it'll be the first item in the list

          uploaded screenshot:
          http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/518/clipboard01m.gif

        • +2

google "kogan set top box" then click the "cached" link beside the first result

cache is here http://bit.ly/qzzDeK - from 9pm last night

        • The "sale" part is the free shipping which was explained to me when I called Kogan.

  • edit: nvm, read above

how does one apply the voucher? I tried putting it into the code box on the kogan site, but then it takes me to the paypal site where it applies the voucher (Paypal Top Buyer $30 voucher) for a value of $0. So it still wants me to pay $39

  • -1

marked as on sale now so not valid

  • -2

But PayPal's Terms & Conditions appear to exclude the HD set-top box, which is tagged On Sale:

"This voucher is not valid for products marked as "On Sale" or for LivePrice specials."

I entered a valid code, refreshed the basket, but the price stayed the same, no discount.

    • +3

If it wasn't "on sale" before, and now it is, is that bait and switch?

      Isn't that illegal? :S

      • +2

If it wasn't "on sale" before, and now it is, is that bait and switch?

        No.

There is no bait and there is no switch.

People seem to love calling anything they can a bait and switch.

Go and find the ACCC definition first.

    • +5

That wasn't the case when I bought this morning
Dodgy Kogan just changed the policy - shame on them

      • Same, I got one just after I saw the post…I wonder if they'll honour it? ;)

        • They should - we got our tax invoice and money has been deducted

  • LOLS xD YAY i got one

  • Not working for me either. Discount is showing as $0. I guess I was too late :(

  • amazing deals by the way, thanks heaps for sharing!

  • everything is on sale
nothing works. Code for display purpose

  • -3

Read the fine print, are you all sure you got the PVR for $9.00.

This voucher is not valid for products marked as "On Sale" or for LivePrice specials.

It is an on sale item?

    • +1

got in early. got a tax invoice, so should be OK.

      • same, got tax invoice sent to email

  • +1

looks like the fun is over.

  • +8

Well the items are not on sale because the prices have not reduced, they are all the same price they have been selling for when they were not "on sale".

That would be deceptive and/or misleading conduct.

I wonder what Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading will think about that

  • So it doesn't work anymore? I thought it was just me having the problem :(

  • can anyone tell me where do i put the code…i tried clicking the redeem button on the paypal page it says "please enter the correct redemption code"..help!

    • +4

oh i see whats going on….F U Kogan!

  • -1

    delete

  • +6

Yeah looks as if they've added a "On Sale" to most of their items. Spent ages just getting their pages to load only by the time I got through to the checkout the discount code no longer worked. Apparently the items I wanted are now "On Sale", even though the prices havent changed.

Very dodgy but something I'd expect from Kogan. If they didn't set reasonable T&C then its their own fault. Hopefully those that managed to place orders don't get them cancelled.
