hey mate did you scan the image? is it possible to scan the whole page as well? that way it can be printed and taken to say Harvey Norman so they price match. If it’s just an individual photo it may not work as well when asking for price matching. thanks in advance.
Good price but I’m no hurry for new TV…can live with my analog for another 5 yrs :D
How much HN sell?
So we can work out how much cheaper with price match + lowest price guarantee… :)
yeh, where did you get the ad? lol. spill!
heads up the catalogue is now online:
http://www.kmart.com.au/catalogue/20080619/full.asp?Keyword=...
Forget about Harvey Norman, their so call price guarantee requires you to purchase the item from another store, then purchase the same item from HN for the difference in price for discount, you end up with 2 exact items meaning you will have to refund the initial purchase say here from Kmart. It’s a fraud system!!
Wow i want one! Hmm now what to do with the almost new, perfectly good 32inch LCD sitting in my loungeroom?
Hmm…. Maybe I can distract the wife with the 50% off sheets, blankets and other home items while I run the Sony TV thru the checkouts early thursday morning ;)
hard to say because i havent been been able to display any HD content on it, so far its been playing DVDs off this piss poor dvd player hooked up to it…….however it did look pretty good still. i should be able to report back after i pick it up (car is in the shop atm). one of my friends have been trying to find one of these and it seems that many stores are already out of stock (side effect for having it on display before a sale)
Wait, so some people have already bought these? I went to Kmart Greensborough, Northcote and Preston today and each time was told that there’s no way they’ll sell it before Thursday.
Does anybody know where I can get one today (or tomorrow) in Melbourne? I don’t want to miss out on it.
those who have seen this in stock can you please post here which kamrt it was.
I have heard that Kmart Garden City WA has them on display and ticketed at $999
Also have many people been going to JBhifi in Melvile to get a price match cause bloke over there says he been getting requests all day about this deal but has no stock to sell :)
Whoa…has anybody seen this ebay sale.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOW-TO-GET-NEW-SONY-BRAVIA-37-LCD-TV-...
its a copy and paste job of the deal i posted, somone put it on eBay selling the info on how to get this deal. No body bought it though!
Who ever put up for sale didnt even bother to change the words or headings, even put in the **.
The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.
S/He already end the list…damn I missed out that. Someone should have waste their 99c for a negative feedback :)
That seller made a fair bit $ on DX :)
I guess its very similar to Sony Bravia KDL-46S3000 model.
I’m very happy with the picture, but my previous TV was a CRT so I can’t compare it to much else. I was a bit worried that it might be pixellated, but even at a distance of about 2 metres it looks fine.
The default settings had ‘vivid’ colour selected though which I think looks awful. It’s much better after changing to ‘standard’ colour.
Question…how can you get $100 cashback if you purchase the TV from kmart for $999?
See bargrin’s linked article, or here:
http://www.sony.com.au/homecinema/article.jsp?id=4030
Basically for 32”/37” Sony Bravia you get $100 cashback, when you use the link to register your purchase.
Excellent. Thank you. Lets hope l can get one now.
Picked mine up Tuesday evening, so 2 nights with it now. It’s a terrific TV, and it’s either Sony or Pioneer at the top of the list for LCD panels so you know your doing well. Motion is no problem, both sports and movies. I sit 2.2m from the TV and the HD free-to-air is nothing short of magic. 37” is teh perfect size too, I certainly wouldn’t larger for my distance from the TV - and I’d even be happy to be up to 3m from it to still be in optimum viewing distance too. Hooked it up to the DVD player by composite connections, and the colour range and clarity is terrific. Batman Returns was teh DVD I played, and it was like seeing a brand new movie with this TV. Motion during the actions scenes was no different to a CRT for me - in other words completely acceptable. If your thinking about it - just buy it, you’ll be very happy! And if your in metro Melbourne - Southland was already sold out on Tuesday, but nearby Keysborough store still had about 7 left.
Oh, and I just completed the Sony website cashback registration/claim, and authorized dealer is by search and match to what they have on record. K-Mart stores were recognized and the cashback accepted fine - now I just have to mail in the paperwork :)
Hi, I did a search around some Brisbane stores today but everyone had sold out this morning. Some are taking rainchecks on it, so I eventually found a store that gave me one. They are only offerinng 4-5 at each store. I was just wondering if someone could explain the HD set up on this in layman’s terms. For instance what does this mean?
Not True HD 1080P but still for the price pretty good
Thanks.
1080p is the resolution—which equates to 1,920x1,080 pixels. 1080p monitors are, in theory, capable of displaying every pixel of the highest-resolution HD broadcasts and should offer more than twice the resolution of 1,280x720, or 720p, HDTVs. So, these are called true HD or full/ultra HD . Also, 1080p is theoretically better than 1080i despite an identical 1,920x1,080 resolution, in i, interlacing takes place- half the resolution appear on your screen first, followed by other half within 30ms. Progressive-scan display all of the lines of resolution sequentially in a single pass, and give a smoother, cleaner image. This TV is a very good value for money, and all broadcasts currently are max 1080i. Of course I have a Sony KDL46X3100 46” X Series Full HD Bravia LCD TV, which with the Toshiba HD DVD player, makes watching movies a real new experience at 1080p! Humm… did I mention the home theatre system! (I know I am being a silly SOB!! Chill out guys- and enjoy your new TV!!!)
BTW, if you buy a selected Sony Home Theatre along with a Bravia , you get another 100 AUD off the same!!!
Found this on eBay
Someone willing to pay $1200 for it. So who have the spare cash buying it & put profit back to OzBargain :)
thats if your comfortable in telling the ATO that your Sony 37inch Hif-Def Flat Screen LCD TV is a “necessary” expense in gaining your income or at least you dedcucted it in proportion to the amount of work you do with it in line with your job.
Be funny if you get audited and the ATO asks what this $899 “other work expense” deduction is and you point to your home theater :D !!!
lol, just saw an advertisement in the Herald Sun with the title ‘Apologies’ with something along the lines of due to unprecedented demand, K-mart may not be able to supply the Sony BRAVIA 37” TV for $999.
I know the answer is proably no, but if we were given a raincheck for one of these does it mean we will get one, or more than likely not?
they will not be back again as they are now EOL, now replaced by the S4000 series. these were also planned for a catalogue a few weeks from now, it will now be removed, as the stock reserved for the future catalogue was moved up for ppl who were buying from the current catalogue (ie, rainchecks). for those who already secured their panels or rainchecks, thats the last of them
i just picked up mine today, tested it by playing 720p and 1080p vids off a notebook, quality looks surprisingly good
True, but in my store they had a sign saying they would issue rainchecks, where the unit used to be. So I went to the service counter and they issued one.
Reason - I guess Lordy’s comment above on 21/06/2008 - 22:34 tells us. And each store seems to operate differently as some stores were selling it lower before the sale and others wouldn’t.
Just out of curiousity, just in case the raincheck does come through, can someone tell me what the box size is roughly. Just so I can work out if it will fit in my car, or if I will need to get another car to pick it up. Ta.
LOL…I knew it would be a mistake to post this deal up online before I bought one of these TV’s !! Doh!! :(
Oh well I wasnt able to come up with the cash till the weekend anyway which meant I would have missed out.
I think I better start saving up a seperate kitty for times like these, forget the emergency health money I need “emergency bargin money”!!!.
All those who havent voted, want to give me a vote to kick start my emergency fund as I could get the popular deal of the week comp :)
Thanks for that, much appreciated.
I think I may have to opt for delivery based on that!
Just called a custom rep. He told me it’s current sold out in Australia… Well. you can still put an order on Kmart on line store. But not guarantee got a stock for ya… http://kmart.com.au/onlineshop/order_step2.asp
Anyone know if this is avaiable in Tasmania?

wow… this is really cheap. I’ve been looking to get a 32” but since this 37” is pretty cheap I might get this one. $900 for a Sony 37” LCD is pretty good I reckon.
