  • Whats the best price for cash? :D

    • Negotiate with your local BL store.

  • Seems a good deal compared to the KDL55EX720 on EBAY for $1958 delivered

This is only 100hz and does not have 3d….

Is the discounted shipping code posted earlier usable on this deal?

  • very good price.jbhifi $1796….hardly normal $1999.pity i don't need one.

  • About to become an obsolete model?

    • -1

This model was obsolete last xmas, when it was $1599 at several chain stores. I'd have expected it to drop more than $200 since then.

      • +1

I noticed Bing Lee always sells obsolete products.

      • I wasn't doubting you about the price. Just saying its still current

      • where can i get this cheaper now?

        • Exactly

This appears to be the current cheapest price

      • well…forget about 2010 price.now we are in 2011 and this CURRENT price easily beat hardly normal or jb and probably the cheapest at the moment.$400 cheaper than nearest competitor is considered a bargain.

  • Hmmm I was thinking of getting an LG 55" 55LW9500

But it is around $1900 delivered.

Should I spend the extra money for:
    - 400hz
    - full LED backlight

    • +2

Personal preference … but I'd say yes.

      The negatives in comparison:
      - 100hz
      - an old model
      - older bravia 3 engine
      - CCFL backlight
      - no ethernet
      - uses more power

      • +2

Yeah but its a Sony :p

      • The uses more power argument is not valid. I've seen articles that demonstrate reliably that it takes around 20 years to break even on power consumption difference.

I personally have a 54" Panasonic plasma and I couldn't be happier. The blacks are excellent. I imagine it's comparable or better on the Sony. My Dad has a 46" Sony plasma and is very happy.

I would find it in a shop (or three) and go and look at it compared to other nearby screens.

    65" pls

  • The tv is still a current model ….. only the smaller ones have been fazed out so far.

Not that it matters whether its old or new …… still a good tv for the size , features and now price…

    • +1

Sony is probably just trying to offload their last remaining stock. Then they will take it off their current model list.

      • Not at all ca6leguy. Sony advises its an ongoing model. Good TV and so far proving very popular at this price

        • +1

I imagine it will last until the LED version is approx $1899 - $1999 RRP

        • +1

Exactly, it may be "current", but being well over a year old, it is badly lagging behind on the newer technology/features. They are just keeping it out there to try to prop up their newer model prices.

And anyway, I still stand by my original claim that after nearly a year, we should be seeing more than a $200 saving on this exact model, especially if you're trying to pass it off as a bargain. Just because its cheaper, doesn't mean its a bargain.

        • +2

I don't know if it's only me but everytime I buy from Bing Lee, the item becomes obsolete the week after my purchase. Note that the items were on sale at Bing Lee. Let me name a few items.
          1. Fridge
          2. Washing Machine
          3. TV
          4. Air Condition

  • I don't think they intend to sell only obsolete stuff, its just the time of the year that all manufacturers are releasing new models. and Stumo, how much do you think it should go for?

    • +3

Considering I was standing in Dick Smiths in November last year looking at this exact TV with a $1599 retail price tag… I'd say $1199 would be bargain territory for an old skool set like this (and it was old skool even back then).

If BL knocked off 100 bux more I wouldn't neg, and $1199 would get a +ve vote from me.

      • I just moved the Price on the LG 50PZ950 to $1199. Its a FULL HD 3D smart Tv. Comes with Free glasses. I have stock coming in on Thursday. So will start shipping Friday.
