GreatWhiteHunter on 11/08/2011 - 11:14 ¶Seems a good deal compared to the KDL55EX720 on EBAY for $1958 delivered
This is only 100hz and does not have 3d….
Is the discounted shipping code posted earlier usable on this deal?

Should I keep going?
GreatWhiteHunter on 11/08/2011 - 11:33 ¶Hmmm I was thinking of getting an LG 55" 55LW9500
But it is around $1900 delivered.
Should I spend the extra money for:
- 400hz
- full LED backlight
+2 voteshellrazorone on 11/08/2011 - 11:41 ¶Personal preference … but I'd say yes.
The negatives in comparison:
- 100hz
- an old model
- older bravia 3 engine
- CCFL backlight
- no ethernet
- uses more power
The uses more power argument is not valid. I've seen articles that demonstrate reliably that it takes around 20 years to break even on power consumption difference.
I personally have a 54" Panasonic plasma and I couldn't be happier. The blacks are excellent. I imagine it's comparable or better on the Sony. My Dad has a 46" Sony plasma and is very happy.
I would find it in a shop (or three) and go and look at it compared to other nearby screens.
+1 voteExactly, it may be "current", but being well over a year old, it is badly lagging behind on the newer technology/features. They are just keeping it out there to try to prop up their newer model prices.
And anyway, I still stand by my original claim that after nearly a year, we should be seeing more than a $200 saving on this exact model, especially if you're trying to pass it off as a bargain. Just because its cheaper, doesn't mean its a bargain.
+3 votesConsidering I was standing in Dick Smiths in November last year looking at this exact TV with a $1599 retail price tag… I'd say $1199 would be bargain territory for an old skool set like this (and it was old skool even back then).
If BL knocked off 100 bux more I wouldn't neg, and $1199 would get a +ve vote from me.

I just moved the Price on the LG 50PZ950 to $1199. Its a FULL HD 3D smart Tv. Comes with Free glasses. I have stock coming in on Thursday. So will start shipping Friday.
