Samsung is improving its cameras though I never bought one.
I think that with $79 you can't complain much. :)My best gift I bought myself is a Ricoh CX4 for around $270 (retail price now around $400 I think).
Very very happy with it, stunning point & shot, good low light shot, big zoom, unbelievable battery life in operation mode and storage mode, quite compact and pocketable!

Just an observation, nothing against this deal or samsung brand and thanks for the posting. I just wanted to say that we bought our first camera in years to replace an old 4MP Canon IXUS4 from 2004. It was a 12MP Samsung for about $90, couldn't believe how cheap they'd gotten since our last one was $750. We figured it wouldn't be superious but probably fairly comparable right? But I now only use our 7 year old camera as everything from the $90 samsung looks like an oil based painting once you zoom even slightly into the output image and gave we gave this to our daughter.
In saying all that, this camera does look better than the one we bought. Just saying that some of these cheap cameras give cheap quality too. The megapixel hype has gotten a bit out of control when it comes to the (cheaper) compact cameras it seems. My other half can't tell the difference and doesn't know what I'm talking about so maybe I'm knit picking but meh…
