A good price on a great tablet, but be warned: if this is anything like MLN's last big deal, they won't actually have the product in stock, and it'll take at least a couple of weeks to get to you. See the comments here for reference: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52024?page=1

    • Hopefully they will limit the order this time.

    • +6

      OW pricematch, job done.

    • +1

Considering there isn't any instore pickup, you're probably right.

    • This unit is in stock as was the Previous deal.

  • i hope you rooting fans don't get the newer models cause they are locked atm :p

  • +2

Shame I haven't even received my monitor from them, otherwise I would definitely get this.

    • +11

ipad's specs are SHIT compared to this. Not to mention you can get a dock for 100~ and turn this into a TRANSFORMER.

    • +7

Might as well buy a sheep costume to whilst you are it…

Heaven help believe that there might be products out there that are better than the restrictive over-priced crap that has Stevies' blessing…

    • -2

      down to oblivion

    • +5

I heard that all iPads will cease to operate once Steve Jobs dies…its a built in 'feature'.

    • bahaha

      • +1

Well I got your joke, even if it seemed lost on everyone else :)

    • -1

yeah why get an iPad it only has 100,000 tablet apps how many does android have like two?
Also the iPad is the only REAL tablet the rest are fake copies.

      • The tablet PC idea is nothing new, Apple were just the first to market with a slim one…

You'll find though most of the decent apps are across both Android and iOS now anyway, developers and companies are starting to finally realise they are limiting their exposure if they stick to only iOS. Like it or not but Android has greater market share…

Such comments like yours just show how many Apple users fall for the glossy ads and believe every Stevie spews out…

  • +4

Kinda sucks that you can't pick it up but a great price.

    • You're looking to broden this thing on ebay just like you did with the thinkpad t520 aren't ya?

      • -2

        Umad?

        • -8

Why would I be mad? Ustupid?

      • +5

So I pay 1200 for a laptop, have to wait 3 months for my $600 not-so-cashback, and sell the laptop for 700 odd to account for the wait, eBay and PayPal fees, time spent selling it, and conversion fees and you're having a whinge?

Mind you, this is a single product. I'm just trying to mitigate my losses and the buyer is still getting a bargain. (Where else are you going to find a ThinkPad T Series for 700 cash?)

        • He mad! ;)

        • -1

Selling a second-hand laptop which cost you $600 for $700 is not not how you mitigate your losses. This is not to mention you deceived potential ebay buyers by listing the item as new never used.

        • +1

@HustleGame, seriously…who made you the Sheriff of Ebay?

There are plenty of people making a few bucks on ebay off OzB scores; and others doing a hell of a lot worse than that; you're carrying on over nothing here. When it becomes your business, you'll be duly informed, k? ;)

        • As I said in the eBay listing, it is barely used. Make of that what you will but I've gotten 100% feedback so far.

          And also,

I sold it for 720. Of that, eBay took $21. PayPal takes another $20. In reality, shipping will cost me $30 with insurance (even though I put shipping as $20). That's $49 I make.

Now let's look at the time value of money. We'll use an interest rate of 5% to be fair. Since interest is compounded continuously,

          FV = 600e^(0.25*0.05) = 607.55. 49 - 7.55 = 41.45

And now for the PayPal conversion fees to turn the cashback into real cash. PayPal fees are at 2.4% + 0.30AUD for payments, so:

          600*0.024 = 14.4 + 0.3 = 14.70

          41.45 - 14.70 = 26.75

So in the end, I make $26.75 and have to wait 3 months for the cashback. (I lose the opportunity to spend it now)

I think you're just mad you didn't get a ThinkPad.

What are the chances of the Transformer getting even cheaper over the next few weeks? Serious question because I've been considering buying one, but since the Iconia has gone from $580 to $490 to $386 & every number in between in the past 3 months, I've delayed getting the Transformer in hope that it would go down as well.

    • +5

These drops mirror what happened with netbooks the market is being saturated, might wait until late this year to buy one.

      • +7

Probably also because they are needing to make the price that much more attractive to try stop people blindly and sheepishly buying iPads….

Prices such as these I feel better represent what these devices are actually worth considering their functionality (imo the price of the iPad is exorbitant for what little practical functionality it serves)…

    • +4

the bottom is falling out of the non existent tablet market so just hang in there and we'll see sub $300 in no time.

      • +6

I think its the 10" market that is bottoming. In spite of what Steve says they are just too big and unwieldy when you can get the exact same thing in 7". I will pick up a transformer or 2 for the kids to play with, when they hit $299 (with dock).

        • +3

$299 (with dock) will happen when another competitor offers similar product close to that price point. At the moment, ASUS transformer is the ONLY company who sells this fully intergrated bundle in such form factor. $299 without a doc is more likely.

        • My sausage fingers have a hard enough time clicking things on my 10" Touchpad. I'd go mad on a 7".

    • +5

Transformer 2 out soon. During October i think, surely will cause Transformer 1 to drop the price.

    • Amazon has been doing 360 deals mate, where were you?

      • That was active for like a day and a half and that was when the TouchPad got reduced to $99 so at the time I was trying to get my hands on one of those.

  • I am tempted but no I don't really need one.

  • +6

Don't buy from these guys, horrible experience and communications price match at office works instead

    • +6

Agreed, never again from these guys as they don't deliver on time and probably don't have stock on hand.

    • office works will really match MLN prices? even the ow in sydney will match them? sounds stupid, but how do you get them mattched? just show them the price on mln website?

      • +1

Yes, OW will match MLN price if the item is still in stock and the advertised price + shipping cost (to Sydney) < OW price then you pay for the (advertised price + shipping cost) - 5% of the total.

        • OW Braddon (ACT) wouldn't price match a MLN netbook a year or so ago when I tried. Apparently I should have taken the guy's name and complained to head office, as that makes them come around.

  • Not bad price but don't need one either.

  • Hope this drops like the touchpad then i buy

    • +5

      Do it in dream.

    • -3

      how stupid can ppl get…

  • MLN? Do not want

    • wait till you visit MSY

  • +4

Lol @ the MLN hate, I got negged so hard when I first reported about how terrible these guys were during their first sale…

  • +9

MLN are terrible, stay well clear people…

  • +3

    TNT is terrible too.

  • +3

    MLN? No..Never..

  • +1

So is the MLN hate all based on that one experience with the monitors or have there been other instances?

    • +3

      It's a groupie thing.

    • Other for me

  • Never had a problem with MLN (although I know other people have)

  • +2

Its a good offer but their service are bad.

    • +1

      SUPER AGREE

    • .

      • It's no different than centrecom and their boxing day sale drama, through good deals most people will stop hating on mln eventually. There is always going to be someone that falls through the cracks and feels like they have been targeted. Ive only had 1 poor experience with mln, but that was during their boxing day sale, and they atleast offered an alternative

        • Fortunately I wasn't around for their boxing day sale drama (care to link/explain?). I've decided to take down my comment as someone might take it as 'legal advice' (I'm not a lawyer).

        • there was a lot of technical issues with the site and they said instore customers would get priority. Orders were taken but they were pretty slow to inform people that some of the items were soldout. Me personally I didnt want the alternative option, so I got a refund. Overall I think there were only a few disgrunted people left. Thats my quick summary, but the threads should still be online if you want to topic search for yourself

        • Thanks for that. I'll have a look at it in the morning. At least Centre Com have made up for this recently with the ThinkPad deals.

  • +2

So you guys want dirt cheap prices (and then still complain about prices) and great service?? From a store that operates on the bottom line?

And when Harvey Norman service is also complained about when they have Mich higher prices and can afford to pay their staff better.

You can't have it both ways

    • Yep. Australian consumers are probably the whiniest of them all. All the ACL does is support them too.

  • +1

No —> MLN's way to handle business (No sorry for not follow 72 hours shipping time as promised.)
No —> MLN outdated booking system
    No —> Unsatisfactory customer service
Yes—> Great Price (Massive Price Slash)
Yes—> Bargain on High Demand of products
    Yes—> 5% lesser at OW

To be fair, it looks like they won't let it happen again. MLN should improves their customers service, ensure such thing won't happen again and continue to make the bargain better and better. :)

  • MLN have dodgy refund policy in place. They will point to their signs on the wall, but Victorian
policy is actually different (more pro consumer). Relating to this:

    http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/CA256EB5000644CE/page/Shoppin…

Having said that, if you don't need to actually return a product from there, I would still buy from them.

    • I think those no refund signs are only meant for change of mind refunds but, nevertheless, they shouldn't be hanging them (if they are).

  • did anyone got a OW price match?

  • Hey, let's talk SPEC's…

How fast is this puppy's CPU?

    Any compatibility issues?

Any problems displaying PDF's (we'd be buying it instead of an eBook reader)? :-)

    TIA

PS Anybody know if there's a Developer's Kit for this thing (to access its gyroscope data, etc.)?

It has a gyroscope that might be used for Where-Am-I navigation (even in tunnels, where GPS doesn't work.
It'd be fun to see how accurate its positioning reading are, based on it sensing movement (w/out GPS data).

    • google.com

  • called OW they wont match it coz is a online sale….

  • +1

Hi Guys, at about 10.30am today I got OW online store to price match over the phone. $19 delivery but about $19 discount so it worked out to be about $388 in the end.
