  • So existing cardholders get this how? I'm interpreting that my card will automatically start getting 10% off of fuel…

    EDIT:

Just looked at Terms and Conditions:

Citibank Credit Cardholders are not eligible to apply for this introductory offer.

    but yet the page says:

10% offer applies for up to 3 months from the date of approval for new cardholders approved before July 31. 2007 and to existing cardholders for spend before July 31, 2007.

    Huh?

    • Yes thats right. If you are an existing cardholder you get the deal until the end of July (31st) but new card holders get the 10% for 3 months after they are approved. So someone appproved on May 31st would get 10% until August 31st.

I first heard the offer on TV, but wasn't paying too much attention, but caught something about existing cardholders. Then I checked the Citibank site, but it had no details. Checking on the BP site I found the reference to the existing cardholders.

So the info comes from the TV ad and the Web.

  • Talking about confusing terms and conditions statement — they do not make sense at all. Also on the website it says 31 July, but the PDF says 30 June as deadline for new card approval.

10% off would be huge saving though, at around 13-14 cents per litre (pumps at Sydney Eastern suburbs).

    • Probably someone missed the details in the PDF. Guess it might have been planned earlier but as it probably needed BP and Citibank management approval and as usual in big corporations, that would have been slow, so it might have missed the original deadline, and was extended to July 31. Both the Citibank and BP websites say July 31st.

Maybe you could get a job proofreading for Citibank - good pick up!!

    • Thanks! Great saving even for the existing card holders! Just read from the Herald that petrol is heading north again so I guess any little saving is of great help.

  • Does anyone have any experiences dealing with Citibank? Are they alright to deal with? Good customer service? I am contemplating signing up.

    • I had my BP-Citibank card for 4 months now. Nice cashback every month. However this card is definitely for those who pay off the entire balance every month as the interest is probably amongst the highest.

Customer service is so so. I know I am nick picking here, but

      • Their Internet interface is actually not that good. For example, after you paid for something using BPay, and it would not get updated in transaction history for a long time.
      • Also you only get to type in biller code and reference number, and there is no where you can type in a short note. So when you receive your statement, you still needs to match up the numbers to figure out what you have actually paid.
      • I've called their customer services a few times to activate things. They are alright, but you can tell that they are out-sourced from the accent (so take a while to get used to).
      • The most annoying bit about Citibank is their customer service on the phone — they are always trying to sell you something. A few days ago I called in to check whether my automatic direct debit has been activated. At the end she said, "oh sir, since you are so concern about paying the bills in full, have you considered our payment insurance product blah blah blah" In fact, every time I called they are trying to sell me something. Aargh.

Otherwise, it's a great reward card.

  • Agree with Scotty totally about the service. Also see my comments about their regular banking account, but the savings here makes it bearable. But each has their own pain threshold.

While I use the Citibank card for most purchases I do have a backup card or two.

    See Wizard Card post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/556

If you do sign up use Scotty's link (below) and save the first year's annual fee as an additional bonus. That link is still valid.

(BTW if you do don't forget a vote for Scotty's original posting)

  • It appears that $50 fuel voucher is no longer offered. (via the link Scotty and Shan provided)

  • Hey Everyone!

My first post here. This looks like great deal, but just 3 questions.
1: posted was '10% off everything really adds up.
The card that drives your savings further.'
Does that mean if I buy a pair of eans with this card, do I get 10% discount, or only at selected locations?
2: Is this a Visa or Mastercard? I guess it would be.
3: Where is this link from 'Scotty and Shan'? I cant find it. Sorry about that.

    Thanks all!
    LionsLord

Be sure the foot print you leave on this world is one of awe and not of fear.

    • Hi LionsLord,

      1. eans? 10% cashback applies only in BP servo, including petrol and everything else in store, and only for 3 months if you are a new card holder. For everything else, it's 1%.

      2. It is a MasterCard.

      3. That would be this deal. However it seems you can no longer get the $50 BP voucher, but just 1st year annual fee weaved.

      Cheers!
