    Damn $1.99 at Franklins… wish my mum didn't buy 21 packs at woolies yesterday… could've saved 21 cents lol

    I don't get the concept of the half-price special at supermarkets. I guess it must be along the lines of, I bought this product for half-price last week and enjoyed it so much that I'm willing to pay double. My brain doesn't work like that.

      It's loss leading. They are hoping you buy some overpriced other stuff when you come in to get some cheap up & go's.

      I'm not an expert so if someone knows more, feel free to correct me. But some people (e.g. many ozbargainers) won't buy a product if it is not as a cheap price. Many people, however, will say "I want some up and go" and go buy it no matter the price, so supermarkets will make more money keeping their prices high most of the time, without losing customers like the first guy who bought 21 packs because it was on sale.

      I know that my mum will walk into a supermarket and come out with a trolley of specials. They wouldn't gain any extra sales from her by constantly keeping products at the good price, but would lose money from people who would've happily paid more.
