Imagine how much MORE they would sell, if they made shipping FREE…

    • +16

So true… but then they can do the opposite and say $508 with FREE SHIPPING?
      It's all matter of perspective!

      • +2

Yes, after all, they still need to make a profit to survive or else they may as well work for a charity instead.

My God, it's a gagdet, not food or water. You'll live by not having one for a few days…

It's not a gadget its an Apple!

        • apple is a gadget!

Wow, you guys have no sense of humor =="

        • +2

Obviously. They don't have any sense of humour at all.

    • -7

good point! i hate waiting for things

  • +2

I'm going to wait for some Apple fanboi to say "BUT IT'S A GREY IMPORT"

    Decent price +'ve from me.

    • +7

Grey imports might matter for other brands, but I am I right in saying there's absolutely no difference for Apple products since Apple has an international warranty? :)

  • +2

So wait. Will Kogan give me an Australian invoice with GST indicated?

Looking to combine this bargain with http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4646.asp

    • Pretty sure it's shipped straight from Hong Kong, so no GST is paid. Correct me if im wrong though :)

      • It is still a taxable supply to Kogan, it's not a GST-free or input taxed supply.

  • What's the difference between No 3G and + 3G? can it make phone calls?

    • You can put sim card from mobile service to access internet off 3G network.

    • AFAIK and correct me if I'm wrong but you can't make normal phone calls, you can however access the 3G network so you can browse and use skype to make phone calls, etc anywhere you get reception.

      • +1

The only way to make calls from an iPad 2 is with Skype or similar app, or by using FaceTime. The former requires a WiFi connection, or a 3G data sim available from Telstra, Voda, Optus etc. FaceTime requires a WiFi connection regardless of 3G coverage, and the person your calling must have an iPhone 4G or 4GS or iPad 2. Correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the iPad 1 does not have a microphone, so you'll need a compatible handsfree kit if you decent to buy an iPad 1.

The only difference between WiFi and Wifi+3G is the addition of a 3G Micro Sim slot and the antennae black bar on the top of the unit.

        • All iPads have and had mics.

  • LOL… Did this popup after i questionned the discount issue?

Simple division of 2 by 1 would tell you that the iPad 2 should be twice as good as iPad 1

  • any discount codes that works for this??

  • Does anyone know what AC connector is on the power adaptor for these 'grey' import iPads

    • Don't quote me on this, but the AC adapters for most Apple products have an interchangeable connector. You can buy an connector kit from Apple which has all the mainstream connections. My Australian iPhone and iPad adapters have this ability.

    • yes interchangeable AC prongs but are the ones in the box for Hong Kong?

    • +1

i got an ipad2 for my father in law a month or so back.

inside the ipad 2 box is the hong kong adapter, but it comes with the australian attachment which is outside the box and wrapped in bubblewrap. for those not aware of how apple does their power adapters - they have interchangeable heads like this: http://www.truesupplier.com/images/T/1xt-120.jpg

      • Is the Australian attachment the official Apple connector or a 3rd party unit?

        • its an official apple clip on connector

  • +2

guys for your info 3G iPad also has GPS chip built-in used for navigation, whilst the wifi version does not.

    Cheers

  • +2

    Can I have a 16GB 3G please?

  • +1

should I get it? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

  • +1

Do these iPads come with the Australian wall charger or do we need to purchase the connector kit?

  • +2

So the price for the 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G model has actually gone up? On the weekend it was listed for $699 + 49 postage, or $10 cheaper than what it is now?

  • Lol, good-ish pricing,
just sold my brand new IPAD1 32Gig + 3G for $450, so $250 more is not bad for the Ipad2 equiv I think

  • can anyone confirm that Kogan will issued an Australian Tax Invoice? I can't seem to find any info on it and their site is extremely vague about this (and I think it's done for a reason)

    • I spoke with them. They are shipping iPad 2 from Hong Kong, so you will not be getting an Australian tax invoice.

      • Without receipt, how can you claim warranty?

        • +2

Apple's warranties don't require receipts, since the purchase date is automatically associated with the device's serial number. Problem is, if you buy from someone like Kogan who isn't an authorised reseller, the purchase date probably won't be your purchase date but the day they purchased the stock (might not be much difference, but sometimes they can be months apart).

Anyway, when you get the device, enter the serial number into here to check the warranty status: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

If the date doesn't match your purchase date, you can normally email or fax Apple your receipt and they'll update your warranty, but I'm not sure what you can do if you don't have a receipt.

  • The 64GB Wi-Fi is the best value for money as it is $115 cheaper than the Apple Store and $100 cheaper than DSE. The worst value is the 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G as it's a saving of $75 compared to the Apple Store and a $60 saving compared to DSE.

  • If only I had money to spare…

  • No GST invoice - pity. But then I guess it would just cost the same as everyone else!

  • Been lamenting over whether I should hold out for the update next year or just get it now and be happy. Nearly $800 later(after buying one along with accessories and cases) I can't say I feel happy about spending that much money but come next week when all these goodies arrive, i'm sure it will put a pretty smile on my face.

Also, the prices on the WiFi + 3G iPads seemed to have changed from the site, they are now $639, $699 and $789 respectively.

My iPad 2 16gb wifi arrived this morning.

I can confirm it took 5 days to have it delivered from Kogan HK to Sydney via DHL tracking.

It comes with the an apple australian clip-on plug for the USB charger. http://www.irefresh.com.au/150-446-thickbox/nz-au-duckhead-f…

The iPad box is packed in another box and then bubble wrapped inside a satchel.

  • hi Club_80,

did it come with invoice as I read above that it doesn't but no one has confirmed it. I am planning to claim GST through customs as I am traveling overseas.

    Thanks,
    Sean

    • There is no GST applied to these items from Kogan, so nothing for you to claim.
