jackofspade on 27/10/2011 - 10:30 ¶it's compatible with all networks, it's got HSPA+ which means on Next G you can get very fast speed up to 21mbps.

Not sure who to believe!
+4 votesnickolanda on 27/10/2011 - 09:27 ¶Wow, on their site, the 32GB A500 (no 3G) is $299!
Just checked all local stores tho and don't appear to have stock, although you can order online…
Maybe it should be in the OP:
A500 16GB = $249
A500 32GB = $299
A501 16GB = $339
A501 32GB = $399

The 16GB are actually coming up with stock as well!

tomorrows_angel on 27/10/2011 - 11:31 ¶I called up to ask them about holding one of the 16gb wifi for $249, she told me best price was $244.

+20 votesI'll be getting the base model from thegoodguys. Yes, I could go to OW for a price match and get $12.50 off but somehow I feel that the retailer that bothers to bring us an offer that beats all others by such a margin (instead of just reluctantly providing price matches) deserves more of my custom.

checked Sydney Auburn store website.
they are selling 32G at same price???!!! not sure whether it is a typo…http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/auburn/store/ProductDisplay?ca...

I love it, but a price dump like that hurts. Tempted to buy one for my Son, but my Finance minister would KILL me.
Maybe I could buy one for her too :-)
+2 votesjackofspade on 27/10/2011 - 10:36 ¶yeah, I bought a 16GB refurb for $299 only a month ago.

You think Dick Smith will be one of the first vendors in australia to sell these? >.< And if you mean Ice Cream Sandwhich (android 4.0) phones do you mean they are selling the Nexus Prime?
Ill believe it when I see it…I am used to everything being released overseas first before coming here months later…

Well I was chatting to an employee from JB today who has a mate who apparently works for the Good Guys. I asked if he'd had many people in trying to get a price match on the Acer tablet. He replied no not really and that they were not price matching. He went on to explain that the reason these tablets have been reduced is that the Good Guys purchased a very large shipment, so large in fact that they have been unable to shift them fast enough. According to him, Acer then told them they had to move the stock otherwise they would not supply any further products!? Fact or fiction!? It certainly explains why JB and DSE won't price match and the only reason OW is because they have an official policy regarding price matching.

GreenGuava on 27/10/2011 - 10:27 ¶Definitely looks like it. Your second link states an expiry of 31 Dec 2011.
Great deal by the way OP and props to Nickolanda for the heads up regarding the pricing for the model models. Seriously tempted…
huntress_love on 27/10/2011 - 11:01 ¶what do you get with just the e-gift voucher? is it for a specific store?

See whiteflame's answer here. Yes, Acer is planning to upgrade Iconia A100/A500/A501 to ICS early next year.

utkarshgoel on 27/10/2011 - 11:28 ¶Just got 2 from good guys, hoppers crossing. Awesome find. Great job guys

Can OW do the dirty trick by blocking all the products stock at all stores, UNTIL the sale at Goodguys is OVER…then release the stock again?!
So they dont loose their profit margin?! Can they do that?!
Any OW employees here?!I would be pissing my pants if I am the boss and seeing all the tablets go out at below cost!!
gandhi28152 on 27/10/2011 - 11:39 ¶guys, can i use this to make phone calls to landline or mobile phone [NOT skype] coz, i owned a 7" SGT that allow me to make phone calls… i am looking for some table have this kind of function… anyone can be so kind to advise, pleasee…
gandhi28152 on 27/10/2011 - 13:46 ¶Scotty : that means A501 i can use to make calls, just like a mobile phone… am i correct? sorry, just need clarification, as i notice that from my google, it only says i can send text msg, but not making phone calls

Might need other A501 owners to confirm. I do have Optus MyTab which can make calls as it has 3G capability, and I would think other 3G tablets can do that as well.
I do however use SIP to make calls on my A500 (using CSIPSimple). I found it's not really integrated with Contact. Whereas Skype can also be used to make out-bound calls and it's integrated with Contact.
+1 voteaboutconfig on 28/10/2011 - 00:34 ¶depends on the modem driver/firmware installed with the system.
If it has the voice enabled, can make call.
Some Galaxy Tab sold in US can't make call. But can be software changed.
