    just rang these guys,
cant open the case, even with a tech.

not such a good buy for storage/media

    Dear Brocky2006,

You can open the case and replace the harddrive hence we putting an upgrade for memory, bluray, and HDD. Sorry for the confusion.

    Regards,

    OLC

    • i can open it up at home?
when i rang the guy said there was a warraunty sticker that wouldnt be able to be broken.
ram etc isnt much of an issue as it would just be for storage, but if i could add a couple of extra drives.
can you confirm how many spots are available.

    • I hate warranty stickers. It's advertised as having a PCI and a PCI-e slot, but I can't use them unless buying the hardware and having it installed by the shop.

Other than that a good deal - upgrade ram and HD, chuck in a twin tuner or use 2 USB's, and this should be a great home theatre PC.

  • Dear Brocky,

You are allowed to open the case and do the upgrade your self, Asus will honor the warranty for all the components supplised by Asus inside the computer. We are Asus premium reseller hence we have special agreement with Asus for this particullar Computer.

There are 3 SATA Slots, 1 x been used for DVD Drive, 1 x been used for 3.5" HDD, but i can see small compartment under the 3.5" HDD to put SSD Drive. if you take the DVD drive off then you can put extra HDD.

1 x Pci-e Slot (Compatible with low Profile Graphics card)
    1 x Pci-e 4 x (Low Profile)
    2 x DDR3 RAM Slots
    3 x SATA Connector

    Thank you,

    OLC

  • Specs say it has 6 USB 2.0 ports and VGA as well.

Does it have PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports? I assume not.
Is the (optional) BluRay drive read only or read/write?

  • Is the $200 cash off also valid for the ROG PCs, like this one:
    http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…

I think that $1498 for that would be a pretty good deal.

    Approx cost from PCCASEGEAR:

    Mobo: $429
    CPU: $235
    RAM: $55
    HDD: $139
    GPU: $389
    CASE (Assuming it's the 650D): $215

    Total: $1462

    • Dear Poulsen8r,

      Thank you,

      OLC
