+3 votesI am a bit off Samsung at the moment. Had my laptop screen break when I opened it and very lightly had my thumb on the top right corner, it broke and now up for $300 replacement. that happened 2 months out of warranty.
And also just got a samsung fridge and it failed after 2 weeks.

*If this happens to you, turn tv off at wall and get start-up capacitors replaced.
*If you leave it clicking, blows the main board
+1 voteBy clicking do you mean the LED light on the TV that flashes when a remote control signal is received keeps on flashing? And you can't do anything with the remote or on TV controls?
We've had the main board replaced 3 times during the warranty period to try and fix this but it still happens now and then. This is for a plasma Samsung btw.
+3 votesengineeringprof on 19/01/2012 - 11:05 ¶My Samsung TV is still going strong after 5 years,
I believe Serpeant is confused with the Sa-Mung chinese brand which is clearly inferior.
Great Deal OP, can't believe anyone would neg this!
phunkyfeelone on 19/01/2012 - 10:06 ¶Had a Samsung 46" LED 3D job for 2 years now (when 3D first came out), still going strong with no issues. Bought a Samsung 1300RPM washer that is awesome as well, so it's not all bad news. Looking a 2nd TV for bedroom, avoiding Samsung only because I want a wider variety of internet TV than Bigpond and ABC (hence Sony or LG which have channel 7 as well)
+10 votesManufacturing issues are usually limited to a batch, and shouldn't warrant a neg to the deal. The voting system isn't on YOUR EXPERIENCE with the product, it is just to say whether the price is actually a bargain price compared to the RRP or standard retailers. As the 2 above me state, they are happy with their samsung product.
mxlegend99 on 19/01/2012 - 10:41 ¶I'm running a Samsung 40" M81 series LCD TV which is just over 4 years old and has put in almost 13,000 hours and is still running strong. I've seen a fair few people who have had problems with Samsung, but this TV gets used as my computer monitor and has averaged over 7 hours use each day since I first got it.
Not sure if I just got lucky with my screen or not. But I wouldn't mind replacing this with another Samsung panel when it dies or I can get a bigger screen for fairly cheap.

Yeah I have a samsung monitor which has been fine, running for about 4 years now. I was absolutely disgusted when the laptop screen broke though. Samsung didn't care and directed me to an indian repair centre who wanted to charge over $300 for the screen. Can buy it from hong kong for $150 and do it myself but its just irritating. laptop cost $1200.

enforcer103 on 19/01/2012 - 12:06 ¶what's the difference between good experience and bad experience with product?
Answer - little contact with company and constant problems.
Why do people here crap on those that share bad experiences? Denying reality is pathetic - its a different brand - crap.
http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/samsung-tv-capacitor-clicking-is... - read the posts from those allegedly involved in class action suits. All 476 fiction?
I doubt it - anyway what is the warranty on this set - 1 year or 3 years. I thought Samsung only offered 12 months on TV's since 2010?
this is probably why…
+2 votesIf you believe everything on the internet you gotta have rocks in your head. Take pro's and cons of a product as indications only.
You know how successful con men work? Very simple. "He was such a nice guy and believable"
If they aren't believable then they are NOT successful con men…

+2 votesIt's easy to dismiss Whirlpool as a forum for whingers when you don't have a grievance, but I find Whirlpool a valuable forum for discovering which products or companies may have problems and are best avoided.
The alternative is to sit in silence and not share negative opinions about companies. It's exactly what the companies would want.
spawnpoint on 19/01/2012 - 16:25 ¶Then use the appropriate channels for it, put it up on review websites, where it will be seen by quite a few people. Product reviews on whirlpool I don't mind TBH but the shitloads of people who whinge how they got charged $1000 for using Data on roaming abroad, just makes me grind my gears (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻
Learn how to use your phone or you don't deserve it.

There are appropriate forums for discussing problems, however Whirlpool does tend to be a technological 'catch all' site for complaints.
It's interesting that you brought up the example of whinging about being charged $1k for international data roaming. Do you consider charging $7 per megabyte (Telstra) to be fair? Neither phone nor carrier gives any warning this is happening. On many older phones it's not even possible to switch off international data roaming. My previous Nokia clocked up hundreds of hours of data connections while in Europe in 2009, all of which I was completely oblivious to. Fortunately the phone downloaded very little data and I was only charged a few dollars.
spawnpoint on 19/01/2012 - 21:07 ¶@cluster
It's not fair that they charge that much, complain to the authorities on this, whirlpool ain't gonna solve you problems. When going abroad, I usually just turn data off for good/use a prepaid sim or get a local sim, not having a go at you but it isn't too hard to research this before going on holidays.
It is unfortunate for anyone who has faced/es this problem, but even if people actually read these threads on whirlpool and tried to avoid it in the future then whingepool would be a better place( yes just realised what I said is a paradox, but you get my point)

Until very recently Sony used Samsung LCD panels. The joint venture was dissolved a few weeks ago. While the LCD may be identical between the two brands there's no guarantee the power supply is as well. Perhaps someone who has serviced both brands can add more details.
enforcer103 on 19/01/2012 - 17:44 ¶jeez funnier and funnier - the mythical super Sony build rears its wet liitle head again - wet from having the fires put out from using defective/cheap components. Sneers about whingers and people that don't listen properly - reality is warranty was reduced for a reason - they ain't built to last no more.
Fact.People want to pay for products from companies that are not built to last, and are not produced to the same quality standard as before that's fine - when others seek to to convince them that its safe to do so using fiction and personal attacks it ain't. A bargain ain't a bargain if it does not perform as the buyer was led to believe. This Tv is reasonably cheap -that's it. Its not a great bargain, and unless the warranty has changed back it ain't designed to last. What is the manufacturer warranty again?
ProspectiveDarkness on 19/01/2012 - 19:02 ¶I got the 32" Series 6 from JB not too long ago. Very good TV's, no problems as of yet.
spawnpoint on 20/01/2012 - 01:23 ¶it won't look the same, thats like saying you could buy 4 toyota yaris' for the cost of one Mercedes SLK 200
a100miles2go on 20/01/2012 - 12:56 ¶What 3D glasses are people getting to go with the TV?
@spawnpoint If you crash one yaris' at least you have 3 left.
If the TV stuffs up after a few years at least you never paid full price or 2000+
spawnpoint on 20/01/2012 - 13:29 ¶And yet I doubt anyone who was given the explicit choice of coding between the two would go for the yaris
a100miles2go on 20/01/2012 - 19:40 ¶I had to order my TV online since the closest store is a 2hr drive.
The 46" one on JB says 3D glasses and the 40" one doesn't mention it.
Since the pair you listed aren't rechargeable looks like i will have to find
a decent priced pair that are.

Cool, better than the Sony deal from yesterday (free shipping, better panel, less glary coating, pair of glasses included).
