+3 votesexpecting their customers to join them on facebook when not everyone wants to be part of such a network
I dont think any company is 'expecting' you to join them on facebook, no ones pointing a gun to your head. Imo its simply an offer. You win some you lose some- whether its worth it is up to you.

+2 votesIssues with Telstra Customer Reps:
- Inconsistent outcome talking to reps in the same team (some are good and some are just awful).
- Tendency to transfer calls between departments (and back and forth in a loop).
- When a case is raised, the case manager does not contact you promptly.
Main issue I have to Telstra (and also Optus):
- Don't really care about old customers. They spend their efforts on new customers.

If you've got a serious complaint with Telstra raise a complaint with the industry ombudsman. Telstra will assign a customer service rep. to work with you until the issue is resolved.
If you just want to have a general moan about the company, then stick to web forums where the only people who care are others with similar complaints but also can't be bothered actually doing something about it.

When Telstra changed from the 25GB broadband plan (which I'm on) and made it 100GB for the same price, I thought 'great! more downloads'. I contacted Telstra and was told that I could 'swap' to the upgraded plan, but I'd lose my mobile phone bundle discount and our contract length would be reset, so I said no.
Later on I got a bit of rage up and contacted them complaining about it. A woman replied and said that I actually COULD get the uprated plan with no extra cost and no contract extension. Big difference between what the two of them were saying.

ok ok ok I'm excited now !!!
I just heard about Telstra Top Hats and luckily my house is in one of the proposed Rollout areas - scheduled Feb 2012. Finally I might be able to actually get ADSL 2+. I promise I'll come back to Like once connected. =)
Here is the link about Top Hats, and the link to rollout areas is under video.

+1 voteMake it so on 17/02/2012 - 20:25 ¶After my experiences, I wouldn't "like" Telstra with a 20ft bargepole. And it's safe for me to say that, because history has shown they cannot actually find my house. Seriously.
+1 voteMr rep, can we use $10 BigPond Shopping Gift Voucher on telstra.com.au or telstra shop/store? e.g. for paying the bill or shopping at telstra shop?
if not, anything on bigpond.com is over-priced (far too expensive) even after $10 off, we will have to dislike it
rldowling03 on 18/02/2012 - 00:39 ¶Im not going to complain about a free voucher :) Thanks, never had a problem with you that wasnt resolved within a day

Is there an "I hate Telstra button"?
In my experience Telstra has improved its practices and customer service over the last two years or so, under Government pressure - and it certainly needed to … but from time to time I am reminded it has a way to go in certain areas.
Just on Friday they tried to charge me $1.75 to register my "dissatisfaction" as they put it - when I was looking for a refund for something they had done wrong!!!
What other business tries to charge you for complaining about their mistake, as well as charging you for the mistake itself?!
I like Telstra? An oxymoron surely.
The more I think about it the more I want to neg this but its probably against the rules.

Friday's mistake was small beer, but it's the principle, and previous notable mistakes have been outrageous - totalling over $12,000 on my family-of-four's account and the horrific thing is I don't even check my bills! I've even caught them hiding records! And EVERY time, after having had to waste time, and indeed involving the TIO, until they did the right thing, I've squeezed a huge credit out of them to rectify their overcharging. The credits are sufficient proof of their malpractices, which included charging nearly double the max rate for an Internet plan that didn't ever exist (for about 18 months, despite regular queries from me); overcharging a tel bill by $8,000, disconnecting it while I was overseas & refusing to reconnect it until it was paid!!!; and "perpetually" billing - their term for a disgraceful practice - a white pages entry that their own records showed we had cancelled, which one operator tried to cover up. Enough of me! :)
Fridays mistakeS were re a call to 1234 seeking a tel number. The op couldn't find the # and when i told her it was on the internet she - erroneously - said they didn't use it. I thought that would be that - and that I would have to wear the charge ($1.75). BUT, having quicky found the # on the net, half an hour later I received an SMS with the same wrong number I told the op was nothing to do with the one I wanted. The new op said I would be also charged for the second call and it would cost me a further $1.75 to register my "dissatisfaction" let alone get a refund for the first call!
