Hello fellow ozbargainers,

I know as of late there have been plenty of Crucial deals, however I feel that this price for a 256GB crucial m4 is worthy of a mention. I had been waiting for this ssd to hit the 300 dollar mark, I couldn't resist and had to buy it.

If you have a credit card which doesn't charge conversion fees you will be able to get this cheaper!

Cheers!

Mod: Modified price in title to reflect price drop.

sob I paid USD340 a few weeks back. BASTARDS! 8(

    • That be the way the tech world works… i paid $750 for a Nvidia 7900GT 256MB that was $150 cheaper then the 7900GTX 512MB at $900 :) you cant even sell one of these second hand for more then $5-$10 these days..

and i laugh at the people who are saying that a NEW AMD HD7970 3GB Videocard at $645 is expensive.

Paid almost $3,000 for an Apple iBook with 900MHz G3 processor and 640MB of RAM + AppleCare back in 2003. And people today say $1,000-$1,500 for a much more solid built ThinkPad T/X-series these days are expensive?!

        • $900 for a 100mb quantum harddisk. fml.

          it's called moore's law

        • 1600 for 24" LCD, still working good though

  • Good price !

    • Thank you! Done.

  • What is this deal?

    • +5

      Good.

  • So you need a US address but not a US credit card?

  • Great price. I'm awaiting a $95 store credit for rma'd ram from crucial, was planning to buy this ssd from them directly. With $50 shipping ($25 each way) though it's getting to be a close thing (around $295 AUD delivered).

  • Its now $303.49 US,
    Edit:back up again

  • 323 now…

  • yup, price has just gone up US$10.65. Yuk

  • Interestingly, camelcamelcamel did not seem to catch the low price.

  • I think this gets asked every time, but what is the warranty like for these from Amazon US?

    • Correct!

    • Crucial warranty is 3 years
Sending this feather lite 2.5inch drive to US is quite cheap if anything happens

I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel your order and then try to sell it to you at a higher price. Amazon has been doing heaps of bait and switch lately.

    • Just letting you ozbargainers know, my order just got shipped!

  • +1

we are inching closer to $1/gb parity!

  • Back to $295 now.,..

    • +1

      bought one at 295.99

    • I've edited the price and removed expiry for this deal.

  • I ordered yesterday @ 323 in US$ … will they adjust it down when it ships ? (they havn't charged me yet) or should I cancel and reorder again?

    • +2

Actually dammit they have charged me… but it is still marked as not shipped ( Shipment #1: Shipping Soon ) thing is I have a couple of blu rays in there too (one wast the godfather sale of the day so that would have gone up $20).

Found the live chat .. am satisfied with the response.

Sujith:Can you hold for a minute or two while I research this for you?
      Me:yes. Crucial 256 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT256M4SSD2 was 323.99 is now 295.99 - order hasn't yet shipped.
Sujith:Thanks for waiting. Unfortunately, we do not have a post-order price guarantee.
I've reviewed your order and see that your items haven't shipped yet.
Under the circumstances, I'll make an exception for you and will refund the difference in price after the item ships. I'll follow up with you on February 24, 2012 to give you the details of your refund of $28.00. You'll also receive a confirmation e-mail when the refund has been processed.
Me:Thank you … I was hoping I would not have to try and cancel and reorder.

      • That's good service, it's hard enough trying to get ur 110% from Harvey Norman when your sitting there with the proof!

        • I got a shipped confirmation less then 10min after this online chat was done .. I think I got lucky cos if it had shipped they wouldn't have refunded me. But as it was still packing I did have the choice to cancel. Obviously they could see this was all going to be a mess and just decided to give em the refund win-win.

    • Good stuff - and retailers here wonder why we all go offshore…

  • just out of interest, why get this drive? let say it was $320 a *good deal" why wouldn't you do some research and check the performance of the drive?

this is alot better , yes $50 more but so what? its alot better , esp at random 4k reads and writes, which is where its at, IOPs

    sigh……….

see the table, this is a tier 3 drive…

can be had for cheap here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226…

like really? why keep posting junk like this?! if you were in the market for a sshd , then save more and get a even cheaper junk one,.. or pay a bit more and get a good one

    • Last time I checked newegg don't post here, and I prefer Crucial to Mushkin, but fair point. Still… This size SSD is already expensive enough so going sub $300 was exactly what I needed to bite the bullet.

Also Amazon doesn't ship Mushkin to us.
Also 17% ($50) is a fair amount extra for a slightly smaller drive with slightly better specs.

      • if this was better than the previous C300 which it isnt then yes id be all over it,.. but they are just going based on brand name history and not doing much research… i would be tempted to get this as a secondary data drive though, and a faster one as the main one……..

Best SSDs for ~$360: Performance & Capacity Option

    "If you're looking for a higher-capacity SSD with a more performance-oriented flavor, we're torn between Crucial's 256 GB m4 and OCZ's 240 GB Vertex 3."

Personally I'm a little sus on sandforce

Anyway this is OZ bargain, Amazon do not ship other brands other than Crucial for a reasonable shipping cost

  • Mod closed another thread as a dupe, but this is $10 more expensive.
Maybe update the thread title to reflect the new, cheaper price?

    • think he changed the total shipped price in AUD but not the original USD price?

      • Ah yep, seems like it.

      • Yes the price included shipping, as per the original title.

  • Listing price has gone up to USD $326.21, marking as expired.

  • Came to AUD$285.03 inc postage for me… not bad!

  • ended up buying a RevoDrive 3….. cost me $310 delivered…

  • … and it's back to $295.99 USD again.

For thos interested in this you can use the camel camel camle track option to have it email you when a certain price point is reached.
