Panasonic 42" Full HD 3D Plasma TV $529 Pick up Built-in PVR with USB HDD @ Bing Lee

AMEX10

Hi guys,

My sis needed a small TV. I said get bigger, you can get 51" for $700 but she wanted a smaller TV.

NOTE: The code AMEX10 is meant to be used with Bank issued Amex but my regular Amex worked fine. I don't think they care.

This is great as it has 3D capability and a built in recording function when you plug a HDD in the USB port.

Delivery to metro Sydney would be $45, this may vary. You can pick it up from any store for free and they will call when ready.

Also if there is any issue with using AMEX10 for 10% off. You can subscribe to their newsletter and use code 5NEWSOFF for 5% off.

Hope this helps those that have max size of 42".

PS. I tried DSE; Harvey and even Bing Lee itself and none would beat or match. I couldn't believe the guy at Bing Lee wouldn't just process the sale.

Same as this TV except with 3D and possibly the USB HDD PVR Recording function: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62325

See, size doesn't always matter for girls.

The big w deal is just as good even without the 3D gimmick because it was only $16 delivery to Sydney and an extra $30 for 2 years warranty. I doubt bing lee could match that.

Did that one have built-in USB HDD PVR?

I think $30 is an OK premium for 3D and USB HDD PVR and with free pickup at any Bing Lee, its a good deal for most major towns.

My Amex gave her a second year warranty free

I checked the Panasonic website and the U30 from Big W didn't have USB HDD/SD PVR Recording.

My sister really wanted this function and was going to spend another $400 twin tuner PVR.

Hopefully the inbuilt one will do the job with a small 500GB HDD

Couple of the reviews say the light reflecting off the screen is a problem.

Not more than every other plasma

I bought this for $555 from bing lee online couple of months ago. Very happy with it.

This is an awesome deal! I thought it must have been a typo, and was Palsonic. A 42" FullHD 3D Panasonic Plasma, with bonus pvr function is insane at this price. I would think $800 for something like this.

    •

The 50" ST Panasonic 3D Neo Plasma with PVR goes for $800 when you haggle.

      •

Is it G14 series that qualifies for the marketing term "Neo" or the contrast ratio?

Anyway, my 54" non-Neo plasma is going great after a couple of years and picture quality is beautiful at 2 million ratio

Anyway I didn't think the difference between ratio (5 million and 2 million) justified a higher price for my sister's needs.

So she saved $270 to get the smaller TV she wanted.
Like I said I would have preferred getting the 51" Samsung 3D D550 for $700. But that didn't have the PVR function, was too large for the room (in her opinion) and was $170 more.

Price on the site is $699, coming down to $629.10 with the code.
Or am I doing something wrong?
