kikoprincess on 20/03/2012 - 10:46 ¶great deal. $102 a night in sydney menzies. Hopefully i can get a free upgrade with my plat too :)

Menzies don't do A|Club from knowledge (they are one of the few Australian hotels that has always complained about A|Club since its launch). So if you're lucky you might get a free drink voucher or late check-out, but don't be surprised if they tell you to shove your platinum card up your a**.

This is so annoying!!Booked 2 rooms @ Mercure Syd for April at 10.50pm last night…full priced….Just talked to Accor and the hotel and got told theres nothing they can (or willing) to do to give me the new prices.Anyone got any ideas?? I paid $680 total, so this will be a HUGE saving..
SirFlibbled on 20/03/2012 - 12:27 ¶2 nights at the Grand Mecure M Collection for $224.. don't mind if I do :)
fattyboombatty on 20/03/2012 - 14:32 ¶Would like to go somewhere nice for the wife's bday at the end of May for a couple of nights. We are 1.5 hours north of Sydney - any suggestions?

If you wants other regions private sales…check on http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotels-offers/promotion-list-4...
cardiology on 20/03/2012 - 17:33 ¶For Sydney short trips, I would suggest NewCastle+Port Stephens with Sand dune sliding and camel ride, or Wollongong Kiama trip.
Great. I have taken advantage of these similar 50% sale every year for the stay in China and Singapore. Great rates!
fattyboombatty on 20/03/2012 - 19:17 ¶I'm seeing this too - had one selected earlier today but didn't pull the trigger - now it's only showing the 40% deals
+1 votefattyboombatty on 20/03/2012 - 19:38 ¶I did the callback thing from the reso form
Received a call from France a minute later - she said the deals were selling like crazy and may be gone, but she would give me the 50% off on the spot over the phone if I wanted. Went ahead with the booking at the 50% off rate over the phone - still don't see it available from the web search…
BTW - I have the standard A|Club membership

Have gone thru the booking process again, for those above and below, for same hotel in Bali. Hotels are showing up to full price now….. I don't think Accor, en France, knew how OzB can spread the laaaaarv so quickly. Obviously oversubscribed and they pulled the pin!!
Glittergirl on 20/03/2012 - 22:15 ¶I also ended up getting a call back and they increased the 40% off to 50% after I commented that rates were cheaper earlier today, but more expensive tonight.
+1 votefattyboombatty on 20/03/2012 - 20:30 ¶the pop-up came up after a couple of minutes leaving the booking form up, unattended - I entered my cell phone number and the call back was nearly immediate
Glittergirl on 20/03/2012 - 21:54 ¶Yes, I do unfortunately, as prices seem to be more expensive now than when I looked around 1pm. Wished I had booked then, now where I want to book is above my budget.
shadowshriek on 20/03/2012 - 21:32 ¶What hotel is good to book in Melbourne, central to everything, looking to go the weekend of the 18th May - 20th/21st May (not sure if we're doing 2 or 3 nights yet)
+2 votesGlittergirl on 20/03/2012 - 21:35 ¶I like the Swanson Grand Mercure near Bourke Street mall. On Swanston street and close to tram lines. Rooms facing Swanston street can be noisy on the weekend though.
Glittergirl on 20/03/2012 - 21:33 ¶I looked at prices at work, around lunchtime, but didnt book then. Now prices appear to be more expensive by about $20 per night. Anyone else notice something like this?
Edit. Never mind, I think its that 50% versus 40% thing mentoned above.

Same, almost was kicking myself for not booking earlier, but did what a couple posters suggested and left my mobile number in the pop up just then, got a call back, waited less than a minute, and the consultant booked me in at 50% off - a cheaper option had sold out at the 50% rate, the next option was not available online at 50% off, but the consultant gave it to me over the phone
Glittergirl on 20/03/2012 - 23:05 ¶Me too! Was so happy as I saved about an extra $100 by speaking to them :-)
jwsmith1989 on 21/03/2012 - 09:28 ¶Just did the same thing - was only getting 40% off booking online, got the extra 10% by waiting for the call back. I was talking to someone in less than 2 minutes, booked and finalized in five. Stoked.

+2 votesbigdoubleu on 21/03/2012 - 14:59 ¶Request a call back if dates not showing at the discounted rate (Long weekend in QLD) Booked over the phone at 50% off no problem
jimbojones on 21/03/2012 - 16:27 ¶Great Job OP. Requested a call-back, received the call straight away and received the 50% discount!

I booked tonight, requested a call back and a helpful Indian guy called.
Book at the Pullman Central park Jakarta but he mistakenly put me at Pullman Jakarta.
I call back to correct HIS mistake (Central park is more expensive as well) and now they don't want to refund the initial booking that THEY stuffed up even though I wish to still make the correct booking that I wanted that is for a more expensive hotel.
Been on the phone for the last hour and a half.
Total disaster. Beware.
shadowshriek on 26/03/2012 - 12:21 ¶Thanks to whoever suggested the callback, ended up saving $70 for my stay in Melbourne in May :)

Guys, it's now back at 50% for me. :) [No need to wait on the line to argue with the call centre reps]
This is after the agent would not give me the 50% per my earlier post. Must be new inventory.
+ if you can use this.I've just booked a couple of nights at a 5* and hope to report on how this 5* treats Platinum members!

Sofitel Sydney - aclub platinum - I received room upgrade and two free drinks at the bar. Also stayed in Novotel Melbourne on Collins ($149) last week got a room upgrade, 2 for 1 drinks (which I used during happy hour - $3.50 for rwo spirits - can't go past that) and as I have a priveleges card got 50% off dinner for two total $36 (duck plus mediterranean lamb) and a free bottle of wine.
